Original Post at blendtuts.com: https://blendtuts.com/tutorials-list/shadow-catcher

Shadow Catcher has been a long time awaited feature in Cycles. He had it in Blender Render, but Cycles was lacking it. It's finally available and in this video I explain how it works, how to use it to integrate 3D in a real image, and I also show how this used to be done before shadow catcher, because even if it will be an outdated method... it's still interesting to know!

I hope you like it! :D

Last year I did an online presentation for World Blender Meetup Day 2016 about shading in Cycles: sharing some tips about shading in general, tricks about grouping nodes and some procedural techniques using color ramps. Here you have the recording, and make sure to attend to my presentation this year on Saturday, March 18th! More info at: http://blendtuts.com/blog-collection/wbmd17

It was a local recording and the voice from David, the host, "disappeared" :P Sorry for that, I hope it's still understandable and useful.

Happy Valentines Day in advance! In this tutorial series I guide you through the process of creating a pile of 3D chocolates in Blender. In the first part we saw how to model our chocolate. In this second part we'll duplicate it a LOT of times and then let them fall to the ground using a physics simulation. In the next part we'll finish the project with shading and modeling.

Happy Valentines Day in advance! In this tutorial series I guide you through the process of creating a pile of 3D chocolates in Blender. In the first part we saw how to model our chocolate. In the second one we saw how to duplicate it and launch a physics simulation. In this third and final part, we'll go through the shading and rendering of the final scene.
