<media:description>This is a challenge I did in Pokémon Emerald, where I only use an Espeon. This is made possible by giving myself an Espeon as a starter using the Universal Pokémon Randomizer ZX. Everything else remains untouched from vanilla.

This fight was actually pretty difficult. There's a few scary moments in this. My initial attempts (w/ the moveset Return, Shadow Ball, Psychic and Psybeam) got walled by Metagross, Steven's ace, so I had to learn a few setup moves. Hidden Power was learned to determine which type it was, turns out it was Fighting. Calm Mind (and Reflect, to a lesser extent) was definitely the play against Metagross.

Huge thanks to Amber Cyprian for helping me figure out which moves to learn.

Since I was playing in German (the rando supports it, so...), so here's my Espy's current moveset translated to English:
Calm Mind
Psychic
Reflect
Hidden Power

Anyways, the run through the Elite Four and the champion had a pretty rocky start, considering that Sidney, the first one you fight, has Pokémon that are (part) Dark. Special mention goes to his Shiftry for being an extra pain, with a Swagger + Torment combo. Torment means you cannot use the same move twice in a row for the rest of the battle. To be honest though, I expected that one to give me a bit of trouble. The rest of the Elite Four (including the Champion) went pretty smoothly.

By the way, the Elite Four battle theme is A+, period.

And yes, I'm playing in German (the rando supports it, so...), so here's my Espy's current moveset translated to English:

Anyways, the run through the Elite Four and the champion went pretty smoothly, with the exception of Karen, who primarily uses Dark-type Pokémon, and even had a pretty scary moment during that fight in particular. Regarding that fight, Dark-type Pokémon are immune to Psychic-type attacks and resist Ghost-type attacks. Lance wasn't too troublesome for me, at least.

<media:description>About half of my attempts made it past the first room (where you grab the golden strawberry). But I honestly still fluked the last room before the heart room.

I used an attempt counter to count all of my attempts, most notably to see how many of my attempts made it past the first room.

<media:description>That honestly was a fluke. I most certainly did not expect this to be the winning run, especially since that was my first attempt reaching the Badeline fight with the golden strawberry. By the way, screw bumpers, especially those at the start of the B-Side.

It should be noted that since I kept an older save file, I could derive my total attempts from that one (where I didn't touch goldens at all) to the one where I did. Therefore, I managed to get an exact attempt count for each chapter.

<media:description>So...I took a break from golden attempts partially due to Central Chamber, specifically, the cycle rooms and the one room with the spring on the dash block, which were my most inconsistent rooms, and me losing attempts on Central Chamber ended up frustrating me and kinda demotivating me, even. That break left me with a renewed spirit, as I managed to get the golden strawberry on my first day of attempting goldens again. As a matter of fact, this was my first ever time I reached Mix Master in an actual golden berry attempt. I did save the run a couple of times, though.

It should be noted that since I kept an older save file, I could derive my total attempts from that one (where I didn't touch goldens at all) to the one where I did. Therefore, I managed to get an exact attempt count for each chapter.

<media:description>This B-Side surprisingly took me less attempts to golden, not gonna lie. Still, pretty happy I got the golden in the end. This was actually my second ever time getting to Oshiro with the golden strawberry; the first one ended in a pretty sad way. Most of the B-Side is just to gun the entry cycle...though I believe I still got kinda lucky in some spots.

It should be noted that since I kept an older save file, I could derive my total attempts from that one (where I didn't touch goldens at all) to the one where I did. Therefore, I managed to get an exact attempt count for each chapter.

<media:description>This B-Side is pretty challenging to golden, as it has a couple of screens that are pretty tight, but it's really satisfying once you actually get the golden. It's definitely one of the harder B-Sides to get the golden berry on, so I was happy when I actually got it. As a bonus, there are two bonus clips showing how to potentially save a golden berry run at the end that I managed to pull off in both of the vertical autoscrollers.

It should be noted that since I kept an older save file, I could derive my total attempts from that one (where I didn't touch goldens at all) to the one where I did. Therefore, I managed to get an exact attempt count for each chapter.

<media:description>There's nothing much to say about this chapter. It took me a little bit to get the golden strawberry, but it's honestly a not too difficult B-Side to golden.

It should be noted that since I kept an older save file, I could derive my total attempts from that one (where I didn't touch goldens at all) to the one where I did. Therefore, I managed to get an exact attempt count for each chapter.
