<media:description>California should be paradise. Yet a culture of progressive conformity—sweeping not just the Golden State but the nation—has made life increasingly difficult for those who question the reigning orthodoxy. Political groupthink has paralyzed solutions to the state’s most pressing challenges, with profound consequences for families, communities, and the next generation.

In this discussion, Rob Henderson will interview Abigail Shrier about the ideas in her latest book, Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren’t Growing Up. Shrier exposes how the youth mental-health boom is reshaping childhood—smuggling in ideology, fostering conformity, and leaving young people less resilient. Together, they will examine current cultural and psychological trends, the challenges of raising a family and staying true to one’s values in deep-blue California, and what’s at stake when therapy becomes indoctrination. They will also explore how parents, policymakers, and citizens can push back.

About the speakers

Abigail Shrier is the author of the New York Times bestseller Bad Therapy: Why the Kids Aren’t Growing Up and the national bestseller Irreversible Damage. An award-winning journalist, her forthcoming book, The Plot Against Love, investigates why the rising generation isn’t pairing up.

Rob Henderson is the bestselling author of Troubled: A Memoir of Foster Care, Family, and Social Class and originator of the influential concept of “luxury beliefs,” the idea that fashionable views promoted by elites have downstream consequences for lower-income and vulnerable populations. His memoir has been optioned for a scripted feature film.

<media:description>Millennials are diverging in profound ways. Some are building wealth, raising families, and embracing responsibility. Others feel economically stagnant, socially isolated, culturally unmoored—and increasingly resentful.

What does this widening gap mean for our politics? Is “Zohranism” the future? And what can be done to counter its rise?

This promises to be a candid, provocative discussion about a generation at a crossroads and the movements shaping America’s future.

<media:description>What does today’s protest culture reveal about our evolving relationship with power and identity? Daniel Di Martino, Tal Fortgang, and Rafael Mangual explore the generational divides in activism and what fuels people to mobilize. They share personal stories of political awakening, reflect on how social issues have shaped their worldviews, and question the coherence and direction of contemporary protest movements. <media:description>Why are so many young people struggling with their mental health today? Abigail Shrier, Rob Henderson, and Brian Anderson explore the roots of the youth mental health crisis. They discuss the role of mental health professionals, shifting parenting styles, the influence of schools, and the pervasive impact of social media. The conversation underscores the value of authoritative parenting, the importance of setting high expectations, and the urgent need for parents to take a more active role in their children’s development amid a culture increasingly driven by therapeutic narratives.

On the two-year anniversary of Hamas’s October 7 attacks on Israel, Stu Smith, Neetu Arnold, Adam Lehodey, and Rafael Mangual reflect on national and global reactions to the attacks, especially on American university campuses. Their conversation explores the ideological influence of faculty and campus activism that blurred the line between academic freedom and lawlessness. They also consider how federal funding and institutional incentives shape university behavior.
