IATA is a global trade association. We represent the airlines, and we advocate for the airlines. We serve almost close to 350 airlines, and we are responsible for almost 80% of the global air traffic.
In that perspective, always airline wants to get the money the moment you book the ticket, so real time processing is one of the major requirements for all the airlines. And when it comes to the customers like people like us who book the tickets if you want a refund, you also want a refund as early as possible and also the global airspace has a lot of challenges. IATA has to advocate with each of the countries to make sure we have harmony among countries we have a peaceful airspace.
Initially when we were looking for SFTP solution we have multiple software vendors in our mind. One of the reasons for choosing Axway MFT was that it was Axway who could satisfy all our needs because IATA gets files from different file formats and then on top of it, security, architecture design, disaster recovery, HA, these were added comments, but the primary factor was you supported all the file formats which we need.
MFT is the front end of IATA file reception for the DPC platform, if MFT is down we don't receive any files. If you don't receive any files, no files are processed. If the files are not processed, settlement doesn't happen on time which means airline can have a delay in receiving their money or refund which means a financial impact you know we are talking about millions here. One day or a two-day delay of receiving millions of money is an impact to the industry.
We have four DPC's. We receive almost 200,000 files per day and these files we receive every day. From a financial perspective these are settlement files we send the information to our settlement platforms which means the impact on a weekly basis can be in millions.
One of the driving factors for moving to cloud was cost saving and also reduce the dependency on physical hardware. This is where we decided to go with the cloud provider and with MFT our journey of migration was pretty much easy because of the way the MFT setup is done, copying the configuration files, implementing, it was pretty much easy for IATA.
How Axway support IATA in the migration? When you move to cloud Axway said we are going to subscription model which means you only pay for the number of files which you receive. This helped us a lot because this helped us to save more costs.
Security is a very important reason, being the data which we get has confidential information. This environment where MFT is deployed is a PCI DSS certified solution which means we have almost pass 300 controls. So, this environment has critical user information, your travel information, so we have to make sure it's kept confidentially and in a secure manner, so security is topmost.
Why we chose MFT for the last 14 years is because of stability, performance, and security. We have an issue you raise a ticket we get support immediately. It’s an amazing journey.

A gente utiliza dois produtos da Axway, na verdade. Na verdade, é uma plataforma que tem os dois lados, o lado Gateway de APIs, e a gente usa a solução B2Bi para troca de de integrações por arquivos, EDI, gosto de falar EDI porque muitas vezes as pessoas não sabem o que é, mas é troca de arquivos.
A solução da Axway para a gente é super importante, porque integração para um negócio como uma transportadora, como é a Jadlog, que faz entrega de carga fracionada, carga fracionada para quem não sabe o que é, entrega de pacote na casa dos clientes, pequenos pacotes.
Para nós, integração é a diferença entre colocar mais cliente para dentro e mais rapidamente ou não colocar, ou demorar mais a ter cliente. Então, integração é uma mecânica que está diretamente relacionada ao nosso tempo para o mercado, o nosso time to market. Quanto mais rápido eu integro, e mais acertivamente é a minha integração, mais rápido o cliente entra, e mais eu começo a fazer o negócio girar com ele.
Quanto mais eu demoro, se eu não tenho uma plataforma confiável, fácil documentação, segura e com um nível de disponibilidade e monitoramento adequado, mais eu vou demorar para colocar uma integração para funcionar, mais tempo vai demorar para o cliente começar a operar comigo, mais pressão eu vou sofrer das áreas de negócio para poder agilizar a entrada dos novos clientes. Então, trabalhar com uma plataforma da Axway está, literalmente, direcionado e relacionado com a velocidade para eu poder aumentar e gerar mais negócio para a empresa.
A gente está sempre olhando quais são as novas mecânicas onde a gente pode se beneficiar de recursos tecnológicos para aumentar a mecânica de geração de novos negócios. Então, a gente tem duas dinâmicas aqui. Uma delas é a possibilidade da gente expor ainda mais serviços e fazer com que os nossos clientes possam se utilizar de mecânicas que a gente tem para viabilizar os negócios deles que vão além de uma simples integração para a realização de negócio, ou seja, expor as APIs de uma maneira onde eu tenho um portal, onde o cliente pode se beneficiar daquilo que eu tenho para complementar alguma coisa no negócio dele que ele não tem.
Isso é uma mecânica de transformação do negócio para um negócio em plataforma, que é o que todo mundo quer. Na verdade, os grandes negócios digitais hoje funcionam numa mecânica de plataforma. E tem uma outra mecânica que é muito interessante que a gente também está olhando, que é a possibilidade da gente começar a monetizar as nossas integrações, as nossas APIs.
A gente tem que tomar um certo cuidado com isso, porque obviamente nenhum cliente que se integra conosco vai querer, tem um outro custo além do custo que ele já tem do negócio. Por outro lado, algumas mecânicas a gente pode colocar limites e trabalhar com determinadas faixas.
Ou seja, uma coisa é um cliente muito grande, onde eu posso dar para ele uma faixa muito grande de consumo, e não cobrar nada por isso. Outra coisa é um cliente pequeno que acaba consumindo quase tanto quanto grande, mas gera um negócio muito menor para mim.
Então eu estou tendo um custo que não vai se pagar pelo serviço que ele compra de mim. Então aqui eu tenho uma possibilidade de colocar algumas mecânicas de monetização que fazem com que a mecânica digital também possa ser um gerador de negócio, um revenue stream para a empresa.
A gente está analisando essas possibilidades. É uma coisa mais difícil nesse ramo, porque o cliente entende que ele já contratou um serviço, então a mecânica digital para ele é uma coisa meio natural na prestação do serviço. Só que a gente está começando a demonstrar que isso não é verdade para todo tipo de cliente, ou seja, de acordo com o tamanho do seu cliente, eu não posso ter uma mecânica de exposição de serviços especializados igual para um gigante que eu tenho para o nanico, porque eu estou subsidiando.

SBS is a global financial, technology company that is currently helping the financial institutions and through our products, we are reaching more than 500 million people across the world.
I'm leading one of the service lines, the service lines for, CBOS, which stands for Core Banking on SaaS. It’s an end-to-end modular solution. Currently, the clients that we have are operating across, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany. And through our clients, we are able to reach out to more than 400,000 active clients, currently.
I think that the challenges that our customers are facing are across, the latest fast changing economic environment. And I'm referring here mainly to fastly adapt to the needs of the end customers. Our clients, they also need us to be able to quickly deliver new products, to support their business growth. While doing this, they also expect us to be able to keep the same high quality into the day to day operations at a fair cost that would allow them further on to be able to, give competitive products to their own end users. And I'm happy to say that at least for Belgium in the past years, we have been ranked as the preferred bank for, savings, by the Belgian customers.
Back in 2023, when we were migrating towards AWS and we had to choose a scheduler for our existing customers, we thought that this might be the, go to solution because we already, had the knowledge of how to use it.
But we already, also had the trust that it can, actually meet our needs and expectations in terms of quality and reliability. We have around, 100 jobs per day that are being performed for each bank for their day to day activities. So this is quite a high volume of activities that we're processing through Automator.
We started, first with being a little bit reluctant because, of course, we are looking here at banking operations, but I think that we were also quite confident from the beginning that we would have a successful migration because of already existing knowledge that we had internally for using Automator.
All in all, just looking back to it, it was a smooth migration without any problems. And almost two years after running is right in production. It's smoother without any problems and any incidents.
Is that tiny little piece that makes things work. You're not necessarily seeing it, but in case that there are problems with it, you will definitely know it. And you will feel it. So it has quite a lot of impact in case we have any issues.
Just like all the mechanism of a clock, you have tiny pieces that need to work at the right frequency so that the clock in the end will show the right time, is the same thing with Automator. It needs to work perfectly aligned
with all the processes and everything that we have on the platform in the background, so that the payments are being processed on time, that we can have the end of days running smoothly without any interruptions, without any disturbances. So it's just it's really critical. It's one very important, piece
in our entire ecosystem.
We know that we can trust Axway, for the year to come, we don't need to stress about whether things are going to work or not. We know that they will work, and not focusing on any issues of this kind allows us, in the end, to be able to put our focus where it's needed and actually supporting, our customers in their growth journey step by step.

APIs are all around you.
If you've ever used a weather app, booked a flight online, or logged into a website with Google, you've used one. In fact, chances are you're viewing this video with the help of an API.
But what is an API? And how does it actually work?
