Two years later, Derakhshan was arrested in Tehran and convicted of spreading propaganda, co-operating with hostile powers and insulting Islam, earning him a 19-year sentence. Today Derakhshan was released after having spent six years in prison (he was reportedly pardoned by Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei).
