<media:description>In this episode of HARMAN’s interview series “The Next Wave,” Young Sohn is joined by Georg Kopetz, Co-Founder &amp; CEO, TTTech Group, and Ricky Hudi, Chairman, The Autonomous, in Vienna, Austria. Young’s relationship with both Georg and Ricky goes back years, with Young sitting on the supervisory board of TTTech Auto and Ricky counseling Young and the Samsung team when they acquired HARMAN. The trio of friends and colleagues discussed the founding of TTTech and the initiative behind The Autonomous.

Founded as a spin-off of the Technical University of Vienna when he was 23, Georg started TTTech with the vision to advance safe technologies to improve human life – from cars to planes and industrial machines. Ricky, who lead early autonomous efforts while at Audi, is a strong believer in the future of autonomous mobility. Safety, like at TTTech, is a main driver behind The Autonomous’ initiative – as 90 percent of all accidents are because of human behavior. Autonomous mobility will also help to rid today’s cities of traffic and reduce environmental pollution. The road to safe, autonomous mobility, however, is not a marathon, but a triathlon.

As TTTech’s Chief Executive Officer, Georg is responsible for the overall strategy of the corporation, marketing, sales, finance and human resources. He also serves as the Managing Director of TTTech’s joint-venture company TTControl in Brixen/Bressanone, Italy. After attending school in Germany, Austria and the US, he studied law at the University of Vienna in Austria and at the Université Paris II (Panthéon-Assas) in France.

Ricky Hudi is a mobility technology pioneer with 30 years of experience in the automotive and technology industry. After holding various roles at BMW AG, he served as Executive Vice President Development Electrics/Electronics AUDI AG. In 2016, Hudi founded his own company, Future Mobility Technologies (FMT) for the design and development of technologies to enable Autonomous Driving, Digital Cockpit, Digitization and SW End-to-End Architectures. He is Chairman of the Industry Advisory Board for HERE, Chairman of the Advisory Board for the International Congress of Automotive Electronics in Ludwigsburg and serves on the Open Innovation Advisory Board for Samsung and on the Technology Council for HARMAN. Ricky Hudi is also co-founder for TTTech Auto AG in Vienna and Chairman of &quot; The Autonomous&quot;.

<media:description>In this episode of HARMAN’s interview series “The Next Wave,” Young Sohn sits down with International TV Presenter and Journalist Ali Aslan to discuss the future of Artificial Intelligence. For this episode, we’re flipping the script. Instead of asking the questions, our very own Young Sohn shares his expertise on the timely topic. This interview took place in Berlin, Germany at the “New Data Economy and its Consequences” video symposium held by Global Bridges.

Young &amp; Ali discuss the importance of the data economy, ethical AI, data privacy and security, and bias. Young highlights the importance of data privacy and being able to opt-out when you begin to engage with company. When it comes to bias, data isn’t inherently biased, but we must be mindful that it may become biased based on how it’s analyzed and interpreted. It isn’t all doom and gloom, however. AI and data allow us to do amazing, and sometimes lifesaving, things work – as seen with the COVID-19 vaccines, the work being done with genomics and biotech.

This episode’s interviewer, Ali Aslan is an internationally renowned TV presenter, talk show host, moderator and journalist. His international career in broadcast journalism spans more than two decades and three continents and includes work for CNN in Washington DC, ABC News in New York and Deutsche Welle TV in Berlin. Aslan is also one of the world’s most sought[1]after moderators of high-profile international conferences and summits, including for the United Nations, the G20, the EU, the World Bank, the IMF and the OECD.

Aslan has interviewed and shared the stage with many global leaders and public figures, including former US President Bill Clinton, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Philanthropist Melinda Gates, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri, Environmental pioneer Jane Goodall, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei and Grammy award winner will.i.am to name a few.

<media:description>Changing customer expectations, digital transformation and a focus on social issues like diversity, inclusion and mental health are each having profound impacts on the way we live, learn, work and play. The exponential opportunity for technological advancement to accelerate that change is evidenced by the rapid deployment of the COVID-19 vaccines, the expanded use of genomics in day-to-day healthcare, and our increasing shift to a carbon neutral future. The first half of 2021 has seen some incredible innovations and shifts in our lives.

In this Best Of episode of HARMAN’s The Next Wave series, we will highlight key moments from each of our episodes in 2021 so far - including Alex van Someren of Amadeus Capital, Pierre Dubac of OpenClassrooms, Lucas von Cranach of OneFootball, Lisa Alderson of Genome Medical, Regina Dugan of DARPA, venture capitalist Bill Tai, Dr. Uğur Şahin of BioNTech, Padma Warrior of Fable, Ola Källenius of Daimler, HARMAN’s own Michael Mauser, Dr. Xuemei Germaine of MicroGen Biotech, and Hélène Huby of Airbus. This montage of our amazing guests will be preceded by our Chairman of the Board Young Sohn, who shares highlights from the first half of 2021, how we’ve begun to return to a sense of normalcy following the pandemic and what’s to come for the series in the second half of 2021.

<media:description>The commercial age of space has arrived with the second wave of space exploration – moving the industry from B2G to B2B2C. In this episode of HARMAN’s interview series “The Next Wave,” Young Sohn sits down with Hélène Huby, VP Orion – ESM at Airbus, to discuss the current state of space exploration, her investments in the industry, her work with the Microbiome Foundation and Karman Project and if we might be able to live on Mars in 2050.

After studying at ENS (École Normale Supériore) and ENA (École Normale d’Administration), Hélène began her career at a European SME undergoing turnaround (in Brussels), where she focused on the Internet. Passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship, she joined FaberNovel (Paris, Hamburg) to manage several digital innovation projects. Subsequently, she was hired by Airbus Defence &amp; Space (Toulouse, Paris, Bremen, Munich, Madrid), where she became Director of Innovation after a few months. In that position, she developed some 50 new businesses and played a critical role in the creation of Airbus Ventures and the OneWeb deal. She also supervised a rocket project, for which she had operational responsibilities.

Today, Hélène is a co-founder of and partner in Global Space Ventures, an aerospace-focused venture capital fund that operates in the United States and in Europe. Hélène is also a private investor in several tech start-ups and is Senior Advisor for Red River West, an investment fund that invests in European start-ups to help them become established and grow in the United States. Hélène is a Young Leader of the French-American Foundation and a member of the Club Choiseul.

In addition, for more than a decade, Hélène has been involved in medical research. When a person close to her was diagnosed with a rare illness, Hélène co-founded the Fonds CSP (PSC Fund) with Alfred Véricel, which is dedicated to funding research into this disease.

Hélène has four children, whom she is raising in an environment of respect and admiration for cultural diversity and humanity.

<media:description>As the earth’s population proliferates, growing enough healthy food for all, remains a crucial issue with many components – from soil quality, to food availability, and beyond. Ireland-based MicroGen Biotech are using their technology to solve these issues from the bottom up by restoring healthy soil – to foster healthier crops, and ultimately improving health. In this episode of HARMAN’s interview series “The Next Wave,” Young Sohn sits down with Dr. Xuemei Germaine, the founder and CEO of MicroGen Biotech, to discuss MicroGen’s work with microbiomes, how they are helping to remove toxins from soil in Europe, China and the US, the changes that come from transitioning from a scientist to an entrepreneur and CEO, and MicroGen’s participation in the 2020 Extreme Tech Challenge (XTC). In last year’s challenge, MicroGen won the AgTech award, and Xuemei was named the top Female Founder.

Dr. Xuemei Germaine is the founder and CEO of MicroGen Biotech. Dr. Germaine has a PhD in Environmental Biotechnology and had worked at Pfizer for six years, discovering novel biopharmaceuticals by using ribosome display and microbial high-throughput screening technologies.
