The wasp first injects venom into the cockroach to make it unresponsive, that is not paralyzed, but unable (unwilling?) to walk away. Then the wasp moves the cockroach into a burrow, where it will place one egg on the surface of the roach. Finally, it closes the burrow off. In this case, 'spontaneous' means that there is no specific stimulus that elicits each bite.
