<media:description>A very short and moody game made for the Adventure Jam 2021. You are the passenger on a train to your hometown, that is the Amber Coast and there are different people on the train and there are different stops on your way. That is all there is to the story. It more the beautiful pixelart and the mood and magic of the places you visit that I like about the game.
There is no music, only moody sounds and there are no real puzzles and it is way too short, still I enjoyed the ride.

<media:description>A delightful and also rich fantasy story with lots of interesting and creatively created characters unfolds in this Jam Game made in 2 weeks. The names and some elements remind of Game of Thrones, but that makes it not easier to understand what is what, but you'll get the grip of it. And it gets better and better, and the end of book one ends on a total cliffhanger, give us more!
The graphics are in a nice retro EGA style and for that really well done. The most gruesome actions are animated, other times there is only text on the screen explaining what animation would be happening, but it totally gets the job done. Some inventory items look alike and are hard to make out what they are in that graphics style though. The puzzles are interesting and fitting and well integrated into the story, it is fun to figure them out. The music stopped after 5 minutes so I looped it all over the gameplay and it could get repetitive but there you go.

The Telwynium: Book One

- Winter's Dawn -

Your home, the village of Willows Dene, burns at the hands of the shadowfell. Only the power of the Autumn-Aldor Dwinn stopped it from being overrun completely. Now, led by the Aldor, you flee to the west, for the White City, Aldarris. With you are your childhood friends Tani and Witt, the irritable Uplander Otarr Stronghorn, and a colossal golen of mud and stone, summoned by the Aldor as the shadowfell attacked.

It is your first night away from Willows Dene, and you have first watch.

----

This is a early 90s style point and click, with Sierra SCI0 style graphics (but a point 'n click interface). You might need a walkthrough, since there's been zero playtesting so far, so be warned!

Jam version has not been tested, and I crammed dialog in in the last 24hrs, I hope you like typos!

<media:description>Made in a month for MAGS this is a great start for an even bigger adventure. Your father, the current Fhaldir gets killed and you get promoted to Fhaldir and want to set out to solve the mysteries behind his death. Sadly this episode from Matricia ends there.
The puzzles are not very hard, just a simple fetch quest, but the story is starting to get interesting. The background graphics are nice pixel art and the animations do their job. The music is enjoyable throughout the game, let's hope there will be another episode from this mystic land.

<media:description>Shark Riders is a short interactive novel with 4 different endings and great pixelart imagery. There are no animations and colors are use sparesly in the limited (ZX Spectrum?) palette. You are one of a primitive tribe and you need to offer sacrifices for the gods before sailing out and mounting a great white shark. One of these sacrifices is a cut off gorilla head. Also you have some hallucinogenic cacti spikes with you. In my playthrough I was high as a kite on cacti stuff and got eaten alive by the great white, maybe you can get a better end.
There is no music and the sound effects for showing the text are rather annoying but I kept them in to keep it original. There are no puzzles in the interactive novel but different endings depending on your actions.
Sorry for the many savescreens, it seems that the right mouse button opens the save menu or so, and it seems I pressed it a few times...

<media:description>It is a beautiful world Honza creates with his lineart and vibrant colors and he takes you on a journey through 2 time areas with funny episodes here and there. The puzzles are fun to solve, sadly it is a jamgame made in 2 weeks so it is waaaaay to short. The story just starts to unfold there it is over already, we want more!
The music is great too and very fitting for the game and the monster and horse kick animations are exactly what it needs. And it is even educational, don't forget to floss your teeth kids, you see what you get from it!

<media:description>Sweet pixel art on the characters and things in your inventory and beautiful painted background images with a good portion of cool animations make this a joy for your eyes to play through. Some puzzles are easy, some are really tricky, but you have your guide at hand here. The music is also really fitting and easy on your ears. What else is left, the story is all about Unga that needs to hunt a mumba (a mammoth) for his wife that does not want to eat rat again. I can feel with her, so you need to gather your prehistoric hunting buddies and please the good god of hunting with a sacrifice to finally get cracking. The story is filled with funny parts and even the prehistoric language is funny. A really enjoyable game from 2012.

And since this is a walk-through let me tell you, to get the good ending on the first play through Knoodn, the author of the game says, you need to do 7 of the things on the list, on a second play through you need to do only 4 of the things on the following list to get the good ending (you also see in the video).

- get egg from bush
- get egg from women
- smash bone on rock (by the cave or by the river)
- throw bone up to figurine (below the cave of UNGA - after putting figurine into the small hole)
- remove clothes from the line after UNGA said the weather will change
- ask women what they are doing
- ask RONKO why FRAKO is working there
- (and some special ones)
All you have to do then, is to give the right answer to KONK in the end...

<media:description>Fall is a very cool lovecraftian horror game with giant insects eating people and lots of blood fountains and burning up things, insects and people. Sadly the story jumps in time and location a bit too much to give the whole picture, but what is hinted at is cool already and drags you in more and more. The puzzles are okay, the bad thing is that there are sadly a lot of hotspots and room exits just not showing up when hovering the mouse over it, that makes it all a lot harder than it should be. Contrary to that some hotspots are shown but have no interaction at all and are not relevant at all. Not that great and the biggest downside. The music is not original to the game but fits really well. The graphics are cool, especially the giant insects, but some more interactions would have been even more fun. The puzzles are fun and vary between using things on stuff on screen and in your inventory to proceed and some dialoge puzzles.

I played the &quot;sequel&quot; already before this game:

<media:description>One Dreamer has a really interesting take on the puzzle aspect of the gameplay. You can select different objects in the game world and change how they work by hacking them. A bit like else Heart.Break(). In the prologue most of the time this is about changing a false state to true with the last puzzle being a bit more elaborate. This hints at even bigger things for the full game. The pixel graphics are beautiful to look at and the arcade glows in cyberpunk neon, this is great. Everything that needs an animation has an animation. The music and SFX are really fitting and work well with the game. It really is a refreshing take on the whole puzzle and adventure genre, try it if you dare.

<media:description>Neon Aires drags you into the shoes of Police Office Rick Ki who has to solve a case of a stolen diamond that turns into every scifi game plot forever which is thought as a nod to different works of Kojima like Snatcher and Metal Gear and all in all totally crazy. Some funny dialogues add to the crazy ride you are on and there is nothing that can stop you. literally. There are no puzzles in the game, you click and sooner or later the game progresses through the far out story in which corona as the ruler of Buenos Aires got cancelled and was replaced with Budweiser. The graphics vary between really awesome intro graphics and animations and good game graphics. Some animations are missing and the game tells you what happens, so far so good, and the cool and groovy soundtrack just keeps you playing until you reach the end and know nothing and everything...

<media:description>Clarisse puts you into the shoes of the AI of the same name overseeing the laboratory of Dr. Matt and it first feels wrong, as I'd just like to give these instructions to an AI the Doc give you, the player, and you have to puzzle your way through to what the game wants from you. The laser puzzle is cool, the electricity puzzle is weird, all puzzly parts are not inventory puzzles or otherwise traditional adventure game puzzles but more like minigame puzzles. If you don't like these, the game is not for you.
Music and SFX are okay for the short game and there is not much to say about the story as of yet.

   <media:description>Part 2/2 of the Longplay!
Beneath a Steel Sky is a classic point and click adventure from 1994 and is free to play on almost every system in existence thanks to ScummVM. And thanks to Revolution Software, that donated the BASS source code to the ScummVM team in 2003. The game has had a comic delivered with its discs and both the comic and the game backgrounds are painted by the great Dave Gibbons, who also did the drawings for the Watchmen comics with Alan Moore. The story is both funny and dark at the same time, Joey is a great sidekick for the hero Foster and fighting an oppressive robotic AI regime in a cold future world is always a fun thing to do. The Scripting and the Voice Acting is superbe, the music is great too, the game is considered a classic for a reason, play it now, it is free. Or just watch my longplay, I tried to play it entertaining, like a movie :)

<media:description>You play as Anthony, who runs a not so successful youtube cat video channel. But he needs money to pay his rent, so he decides to go all in and investigate these giant insects he's been hearing about and boy are they huge. And bloodthirsty. Thus a lot of slimy gory action happens in this adventure game, fasten your seatbelts. Graphics are not superclean but have their own style and are totally fitting for the game and great to look at. Sadly the characters have no mouth animation, so in the intro it is hard to tell who says what, but for the rest of the game this works. Some more animation frames would make the action sequences even cooler. The music is not original to the game but chosen good and fitting.

<media:description>A Son of Xenon is an interesting Fan made Indie Prequel to the Space Quest series that has the exact same controls and the exact same resolution and color-count as the original. And the same deaths lurking on every corner. As with the original this is kind of fun, but also frustrating if you didn't save on time. There is no autosave function or the like. That would be a welcome addition, but BostonMcShew keeps it true to the roots, which is also okay... ish... for me, but I like Lucas Arts more than Sierra games, but that is another story. There are lots of inside jokes for Space Quest veterans and some funny nods to other Sierra Games, we don't go to work here, we end up in the Lizard Lounge. The music is pretty good and the coworker is a fun character, we sadly only meet Pearl besides him, and she stays mysterious by now. The game is chapter one of hopefully more chapters, this game makes me want more.

Synopsis:
&quot;A Son of Xenon&quot; is a non-profit fan-made adventure game and prequel to Space Quest.
It has a similar graphics style to Space Quest III (or Police Quest 2 or Larry 2) meaning 320x200 EGA graphics with a lot of dithering effects; It is icon controlled and features a high quality original score.

The plot starts on Roger’s home planet (shortly before Space Quest I) and we get to know a hardworking smart Roger, a true son of Xenon. We will learn how he became the guy we love and there's this thing with the sun which seems to be dying...

Roger spends the first part of the game (other chapters will follow - hopefully) in his office and studio apartment. When Roger, ending up in a bar, meets a woman who is simply too gorgeous to be true, a story of love and betrayal unfolds...

For those who have played my first game “Decisions of the Elders”. “A Son of Xenon” takes place some 20 years later and is considered more mature than its predecessor.
