The Happold Foundation was founded by Ted Happold and the founding partners of BuroHappold Engineering. It aims to influence the development of the engineering community who work to improve the built environment. The Foundation has four focus areas: - Engineering Futures - inspiring the next generation of engineers - Engineering Education - supporting those in engineering education and recognising teaching excellence - Engineering Thinking - promoting the exploration of issues which face society for which engineering can hold solutions - Engineering Human Development - engineering support and development for those in society who are most in need The Thinking agenda spans three key areas: Climate Change, Urbanisation and Scarcity of Resource and includes a series of activities which include public debates, sponsorship of workshops and the Happold Lecture. The Happold Lecture is an annual lecture series which started in 1998.
