In 2004 Herky on Parade was the largest public art project ever produced in the Iowa City/Coralville area. It was a collaboration with the University of Iowa, the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, City of Coralville and City of Iowa City. It's 10 years later and time to celebrate the 10th anniversary with 75 more Herky statues, a new pose, and we're expanding our parade to North Liberty. The blank statues will started arriving in December and are meeting the artists that will transform them into works of art. Over 50 artists, both local and regional, participated in the 2004 Herky on parade. Starting May 5, 2014 the Herkys will go back "on parade" for public display through September 2014. Following the parade, the Herkys will be auctioned off to support United Way of Johnson & Washington Counties. In 2014, the greater University of Iowa will also celebrate 125 seasons of Hawkeye football and the 75th anniversary of Iowa's 1939 Ironmen team.
