Lotte Reiniger Re-Imagined (2019) is a film history reserach and interactive media production project that took 2 years to complete.
It comprise a series of large-scale PilotG-2 Ball Point Pen drawings of 1920s Berlin, entitled „Hier kommt die U-Bahn“; and interactive animationed interface done both handdrawn and digitally, entitled „Ein Abenteuer im Wunderwald“. Both parts metophorically represent a reverse take on Plato's Cave, in which the artist expresses the invitation to come back into the cave, away from the reality of the outside world and embrace the fantasy realm within, the world in light and shadow - the silhouette. And so this elaborate homage to Lotte Reiniger, a german silhouette animator, was thus finished on May 2019.
In the Winter of 2018, I founded Atomic Kingfisher Studios with long-term collaborators Nicholas Makoto and Zhou Yang. Our Singapore-based indie film studio released 15TH OF SUNDAYS on 15th April 2019 as our film debut.
