Jeffery McGowen began his career with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in 1992.
Jeffery McGowen began his career with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office in 1992. He attended basic peace officer’s class at University of Houston’s downtown Law Enorcement Academy where he graduated with honors in 1994. In 1995 he was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserves as a veteran of the Desert Storm war in Iraq. After holding positions ranging from working at the jail facility to the Crime Prevention Unit, McGowen was assigned in 2009 to the Office of Inspector General Bureau as an Investigator in the Internal Affairs Division assigned to the TASER Review section. McGowen has obtained Master Peace Officer, Master Jailer Proficiency, TCLEOSE Instructor, and Certified Crime Prevention Specialist Licenses. He is the past-president of the Texas Crime Prevention Association, past-president and member of the Texas Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Association, and a lifetime member of the 100 Club.
