Parkhurst Field - The Original Field of Dreams - opened on July 12, 1906 and is the only remaining in America on which Moonlight ‘Doc’ Graham of the Field of Dreams played as he pursued his dream of making it back to MLB and another chance for that elusive at bat. The Bloomer Girls – 1914, Brooklyn Royal Giants, Cuban Giants – 1913, House of David – 1931 as well as MLB teams (Boston Americans, Pittsburgh Nationals, Cincinnati Reds) and future Hall of Fame players all played on these grounds. On Parkhurst Field and in this community, people only cared about ability and skill, not the color of your skin, your gender or your religion…but only if you could play baseball. This has special significance to this area and to the reason we are re-developing the Park as a destination. The new Parkhurst Field at A.J.&G. Park will give children from across America not only an opportunity to play baseball on historic grounds, but to learn about baseball’s and America’s past.
