K-12 students and their families are invited for a festival of ACTIVITIES and EXHIBITS designed to EXPLORE, CREATE, MAKE, and LEARN more about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
STEM Festivals naturally started internally with the basic parental instinct as in “you have got to see what my kid is able to do!” We see pretty much all parents say this with the utmost excitement when they like to share with others a proud moment of their young child. This was the instant reaction teachers had when they first started seeing results in the form of authentic student work with project based learning (PBL). These educators were so eager to showcase their students’ successes with their administrators, fellow faculty members, and with parents of course. After reaping what they sow, these educators were determined to present a STEM fiesta to their school communities with students simply demonstrating and presenting their projects. Hence came about the concept of “STEM School Festival.”
