The No Kill Advocacy Center

The No Kill Advocacy Center is the leading organization working to end the killing of animals in shelters. Through legislation, consultation, education, and litigation, The No Kill Advocacy Center has been the leading force in the creation of hundreds of No Kill communities across the country for the better part of two decades. The Center was founded in 2004 by Nathan J. Winograd—who serves as the Executive Director. In 2001, Nathan created the nation’s first full-service No Kill community in Tompkins County, NY, saving all of the dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, horses, and other animals that came through the Tompkins County SPCA. After the success of Tompkins, Nathan founded the Center—the first national organization exclusively dedicated to the creation of a No Kill nation.
