Em 2002, lançam o primeiro trabalho oficial intitulado “The Lady and the Torch” pelo selo paulistano Megahard Records.

Sad Theory started its activities in December of 1998 with some songs written by Carlos Machado and Juan Viacava. At first as a secondary band, they decided to record some songs in studio and contacted Claudio Rovel to sing them ( on the CD-Demo self called SadTheory ), which has receive excellent reviews in the specialized media in Brazil. Some months later, the drummer Molinari had joined the band, so they could have some live gigs. Their songs proved to have enough strength to maintain the project Sad Theory alive as the main band for all the members. Looking for a new approach, they related their music to the contemporary heavy music. Believing in a more elaborated and coherent esthetic, Sad Theory focus a literary effort on the lyrics. They deal with feelings linked to human conditions like anguish, loneliness and anxiety. Themes densely developed on universal literature. They use influences from work and authors from Romantic, Simbolistic and Modernistic School like Lord Byron, Victor Hugo, Augusto dos Anjos, Charles Baudelaire, the existentialism of Sartre etc. In 2001/2002, Sad Theory was the open act to Nevermore, Krisiun and Blaze Bailey in Curitiba, Brazil. In 2002, the band comes with the first official Album, “The Lady & The Torch” (released by Megahard Records in Brazil). After that, the line up changes for the first time: Molinari leaves the band and in his place Alison Schlichting enters. After this change, the band is invited to be part on some copilations CD like “ O Livro da Morte” – which was launched last year (2005) in the U.S.A and Brazil through Black Castle Records together with the Brazilian Krepuskulum Webzine and “Cross the Stix” – from Rob Gauge, Arkillery. Hired by Die Hard Records in 2003, Sad Theory launched “A Madrigal of Sorrow” contextualized since some themes proposed by the dammed French poet Charles Baudelaire in his book “The Flowers of Evil”. Right after the recording of this new CD, another guitarist, Alysson Irala ( Death Cover, Shadow Maze ), has joined the band. For this new work, ST has recorded its first video clip – for the song “Pain Poisons Soul”. In 2006, Sad Theory recorded and released a new independent album, “Biomechanical”. After 4 years of the split of the band (in 2008), The members got together in order to release their best work ever, "Descrítica Patológica" (Diehard Records, 2012), that was recorded in 2008.
