In Finland, media and literacy is seen as civic competence; important to every citizen from an early age. The term media education refers to the educational actions promoting media literacy and the skills related to it. The value of media education is broadly recognised in Finland. Thanks to media education, people in all age groups can manage their lives better, communicate with each other, participate in society and benefit from the possibilities of life-long learning.
