Beirut Beiti [Beirut, My Home] is a user-generated advocacy platform and tool that helps Beirutis create new public spaces in their city, as well as document and activate existing ones. Watch our About Beirut Beiti video to learn more: https://www.youtube.com/wat...... or visit the platform: http://beirutbeiti.com

Beirut Beiti has been launched as a beta version as part of Beirut Design Week 2018. Moving forward, we would love your feedback, suggestions, and thoughts as they are pivotal for the evolution of a platform that inherently relies on bottom up, grass roots, design activism and civic engagement. Please reach out to us on team@beirutbeiti.com if you are interested in being part of this initiative.

Beirut Beiti is a graft by Twig Collaborative, a design consultancy studio that operates at the intersection of collaboration and critical practice, and views design as an innate human quality that is inherently political and social. Developed in collaboration with software engineers with experience in full stack web development, artificial intelligence applications, high frequency financial systems, and robotics; the project came about in response to lived experiences in Beirut and to questions such as, “What defines a public space in Beirut?” “Why does the city have a very limited number of public spaces; has this always been the case?” and “How can Beirutis work together to create a more welcoming urban environment?”.

Under the umbrella of bottom-up design activism, Beirut Beiti provides users with a wide range of interactive tools, resources, and links to relevant organisations in order to help them create events and opportunities in the city. The platform acts as a condenser of the many voices of designers, planners, and denizens working to address public space issues in Beirut. It also plays a unique pedagogical role by providing researchers with real-time data, allowing them to record, recover, contest, and share information about Beirut’s public life.
