Mark: 00:23 I've always tried to be thoughtful on my food choices, whether it's buying minimally processed options or other natural food items, but when my wife and I became parents, we took it to a new level and started buying organic and natural whenever we could and one of the things I kept hearing when we were doing this was if you truly want to be healthy and sustainable, you need to become a vegetarian or a Vegan, and as someone who has hunted and fished his entire life, I rejected that and wanted to understand a little bit more what was behind this and started looking into industrial production of meat that we have today in this country and found that there are a lot of challenges and more questions than answers. So whether it's antibiotics to artificial growth hormones that are given to animals, to the amount of energy it takes to both feed the animal and then transport it across the country....there are real challenges with our meat production. And so looking for alternatives that were local, more healthy and natural, I found it was difficult to understand what the options were. And so, Modern Carnivore was created to not only help inform around the challenges and issues, but to provide a connection to local options, whether it's a restaurant or a grocer, a butcher nearby who has healthy sustainable meat options for you. For those who really have an eye for adventure and wanting to go to the ultimate level of health and sustainability when it comes to meat, we'll provide introductions and information around getting into activities related to hunting and fishing and foraging. I was fortunate enough to grow up with a father who taught me and my brothers how to fish, how to hunt, and it's part of my life, part of my lifestyle. But many people aren't that fortunate and as an adult would love to learn how to do these activities as a real honest, true way of of being a carnivore, but they don't know how. And so we'll provide that connection and that information to really try it out. So I invite you to join today. My name is Mark Norquist. Welcome to Modern Carnivore.
