Vaka Tautua is a charitable organisation that aims to help improve the health and wellbeing of Pacific people in NZ
We provide community support for older peoples, people living with disability, financial literacy programs and those needing support for mental health.
Vaka Tautua works hard to meet the needs of our clients and their fanau in a culturally respectful way, working alongside Pacific clinical services, churches, and communities. Our aim is to foster recovery, reliance, and independence through offering culturally effective support to those with a disability or mental illness.
Vaka Tautua works hard to educate Pacific people into changing their negative beliefs regarding disability and mental illness which have often caused the family member to live a life of isolation and shame. Our desire is to build our client’s self-esteem and self-belief. We are the ‘hand-up’ to a life of independence and our programs encourage families and communities to respect and safeguard the rights of our clients.
