I am passionate about fishing and have been ever since my Dad got me hooked when I was 7. I hate getting skunked and put plenty of thought into tricks to avoid that horrible smell. In my role as the Field Editor for Southern Kayak Fishing Magazine, I share neat things you can do to make kayak fishing more efficient and comfortable.

More about me:
I grew up an Army brat. In the military, we moved almost every year and I enjoyed fishing in many places. My Dad, Lt General Hal Moore (author of the bestseller, "We Were Soldiers Once... and Young"; he was portrayed by Mel Gibson in the movie "We Were Soldiers"), was an avid fisherman and really was fishing in a local bass tournament at Fort Benning, GA the morning I entered the world. He claims to have had permission to go but my mother did not remember the actual facts matching that story. The point he won a nice Shakespeare reel did nothing to mitigate the trouble he was in upon his return. He took me fishing for the first time when I was 5, but it was not until we moved to Norway and fished on pristine trout streams that I was truly hooked.
I followed my father into the military and served 20 years in the Field Artillery. After retiring from the service, I had my own software company for a few years and worked for IBM for 15 more. Now that I am fully retired from the corporate rat race, I can pursue my passion full time and share my experiences - the successes and failures - with you. So, stay tuned and listen in for timely tips, tricks and how-tos!
In addition to writing for Southern Kayak Fishing Magazine, I have a regular column in Southern Trout Magazine. Both of these are free, digital only publications paid for by advertisers. The content in both is very good, comprehensive and a typical issue runs about 150 pages.
