    How much protein do you really need to build muscle? Well... it's not as much as we think. How much is the right amount? Hoffman conducted a study and found that there was no difference in body composition, strength or resting hormonal concentrations in strength athletes consuming either 0.77g or 0.91g over a 3 month period.

    So we know proteins are made up of amino acids(AAs) that serve as building blocks and stimulate muscle protein synthesis. With insufficient amount, this can result in loss of strength and body mass. Yet, we could possibly even consume even less than 1 gram a day.

With the most common protein supplements being isolate and concentrate protein, which is the right one? The main difference between whey isolate and concentrate is that whey isolate undergoes more processing, which results in higher protein content with fewer carbs, lactose and fat. Whey isolate protein absorbs much faster than whey concentrate, spikes insulin much faster, allowing your cells to be more receptive. Which is what you want after a workout. Regardless of the protein you buy, high-quality protein will be slightly better for you however, they will still both help towards reaching your daily protein needs.
