The story of Artist/Leather Smith , Christian Marsh, better known as Xianleather. Growing up relatively poor in a small Apartment in Queens New York he was always the kind of kid building something, drawing, dreaming and creating. Almost being killed at 2 years of age, being kidnapped and held at knife point all before grade 5, getting away from city life became a dream that never died. Moving around was the norm for the family back then, from Queens, to Huntington , To Florida , and then back to New York years after High School. From becoming a recording engineer to attending college for Jazz Improvisation with a major in percussion Christian was always involved in the arts in some fashion. After a 4 year bout with un-diagnosed Lyme disease , losing the coordination required for professional drumming, as well as causing a heart attack in his late 20's . Leaving a music career behind he went full steam into leather working not too long after. Reaching a high level in the craft was the goal, but to reach museum quality levels was always in the plan. Moving to the Blue Ridge Mountains at the age of 44 finally happened, the dream of living in peace and solitude to concentrate on his craft was realized. But, not soon after life had taken a few turns , from the Death of His Father, Uncle, and close friend all in the same year and a half, ending up with E'coli 0157-h7 from a broken spring pipe, and a destructive, psychologically manipulative relationship that took its toll mentally and physically . Confronting the past , looking deep into the abyss of childhood , and working through the mental recovery of the discoveries made was a long and arduous task. To the point of a full nervous breakdown in 2015 , a long battled depression soon followed . Unable to work normally and stay on track in life he was on the brink of losing it all , having to choose between supplies to continue working or buying food became the norm for a long time in the last 2 years.... Until one afternoon, things started to change, almost in an instant .... from one conversation . This is that story, the story of getting back up when all is just about lost and not giving in, finding a way to heal, killing off old habits, and starting over again.
