From the moment the projectors flickered into life and The Call of the Road lit up the Abbeydale Picture House’s screen in 1920, Sheffield fell in love with going to the pictures. The Picture House continued to give the people what they wanted for another 55 years, until the closing credits rolled in July 1975. Flash-forward 40 years, and the cinema is making its comeback with film screenings, live music and community events all taking place in a bid to revive Sheffield's finest old cinema.
