This video clip is from a concert I participated in at the Teacher's House in Kiev, Ukraine December 22, 2013. http://ua-travelling.com/en...
... . During my performance, I received membership into the Ukraine Music Society for my development of the Harp Guitar and promotion of Ukrainian Music and Culture. I was going to play a harp guitar at the event but we were sold out for the Christmas Holiday. The next best thing? Play a banjo!
The banjo is extremely rare in Eastern Europe and I rarely get a chance to jam on some bluegrass with others. So, when given the opportunity, I tune up my Earl Scruggs Gibson 5-string and head for the stage! My audience has no idea what a "Scruggs" or a "Flatt Run" is. So I generally begin my portion of the concert with something familiar, a classic like Bach's "Toccata in D Minor", then for contrast, blend in some hard driving bluegrass banjo picking and finish with a Metallica ending :))) The concluding piece, "Dance of the Sugar Plum Banjo" is my version of Tchaikovsky's "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy".
