Classical tradition: 350 years can be heard.
In the company Leonhardt, based on the 350-year tradition of violin making in Mittenwald, since 1926 stringed instruments have been handmade.
Anton Dietl founded the workshop in 1926 and built it into the master workshop in more than 40 years. In 1968, he handed over the business to his son-in-law Wilfried Leonhardt, whose father Fritz was also a plucked instrument maker in Mittenwald.
Since 1997, Rainer W. Leonhardt has been leading the master workshop, whose passionate attachment to traditional violin making has also been expressed by the direction of the Mittenwalder Geigenbaumuseum over several years until 2005.
The violin building is a very special craft that combines many traditions.
In addition to craftsmanship and artistic skill, experience plays an important role.
The violin building Leonhardt is committed to this tradition.
