Join our producer as he goes behind the scenes with Pilot and crew of the Lewis Air Legends Douglas A-20 Havoc. The team, from San Antonio, Texas has been coming to Freeport, Illinois since July of 2016 when, in on its Maiden voyage to Oshkosh, the A-20 had engine failure forcing it to land in Freeport.
The crew has made 5 trips to Freeport since then replacing two engines and doing a complete annual inspection on the historic plane. Our producer spent some time with the crew as they made final preparations to complete A-20’s mission to make it to Oshkosh.
The WWII light bomber, stored at the Albertus Airport for nearly a year, is the only known airworthy A-20 in the world. The plane made its final departure from Freeport today, on Mother's Day 2017 for Oshkosh.
