A Tribute to Royal Peasantry’s Fairy Godfather, David Gould, Tramps en Vogue is the Royal Peasantry family’s first foray into film. It all began with a series of photoshoots by photographer Micah Mackenzie in June of 2013 done with the intention of creating a lookbook. Mindy Carson brought her artistry to hair and makeup, and Amanda Swafford served as our always amazing stylist. Inspired by these still photos we wanted to take the project further. We got our wish in July when videographer Brian Adam Smith joined to add his vision to direct and create the video we eventually decided to call Tramps en Vogue.
We were honored to be granted permission to use Asheville River Arts District’s iconic Phil Mechanic Studios as our location and on July 7th began to shoot. Amy Day Dougherty took lead on hair design for the rest of the shoots and Mindy stayed on with makeup, as the cast grew by 20 models! The first session was over ten hours long, and that was a short beginning with what was to come. Our dedicated crew of 25 models, 6 hair and makeup artists, 4 stylists, two photographers, and our fearless director spent a total of three sessions in the summer heat breathing life and magic into Royal Peasantry wardrobe creations and capturing it all on film. Our wonderful creative team transformed our models who also transformed themselves to become the characters who inhabit this video. We hope that you enjoy a look into that world.
