Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway

The Kokoda Track Memorial Walkway is a living memorial, dedicated to those who served in the 1942-43 Papua New Guinea/Kokoda Track campaigns. Located at Concord (Sydney), it is free to visit, and features a stunning granite Centrepiece memorial, plus 22 information stations along the 'track' related to locations/battles along the Kokoda Track, and surrounding northeast coastal locations. The Walkway connects the Rhodes railway station to the Concord Hospital. Schools and other community groups can visit the Walkway's Ralph Honner Education Centre to learn more about the campaign. The grounds include covered BBQs, toilets, a cafe (soon to be re-opened) and tranquil gardens, including the Private Bruce Kingsbury VC Memorial Garden near the centre. At the northern end of the Walkway the Memorial Rose Garden features over 500 plaques dedicated to individuals and units who served. Commemorative services and military history talks are held regularly, and are open to the public.
