How do we make history matter to our communities? How can we build connections between past, present, and future? UNCG's program places a premium on making history relevant, connecting the past to contemporary audiences. Students build a broad and practical skillset that they can apply in the public history workplace—museums, historic sites, public education, web-development, and beyond.

Our program bridges theory and practice. Every semester students complete collaborative projects, start-to-finish, that make a difference in our region—museum exhibitions, public programs, interpretive websites, collections management plans, etc. The program has ongoing partnerships with area history organizations, and students complete internships—and find jobs—across the country.
