Founded in 1987, Friends of Boston's Homeless is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that supports innovative, solution-oriented programs to help the homeless move beyond shelter to lead independent lives in our community.

Friends supports the emergency shelters (Woods Mullen and Long Island) and programs run by Homeless Services of the Boston Public Health Commission including housing first, job training, adult education, employment services, life-skills development, and transitional and permanent affordable housing. Friends also provides technical assistance and expertise in developing new transitional programs and the on-going improvement of existing programs to ensure the current and changing needs of the homeless are met.
