The Ramayana is an ancient Indian epic poem that narrates the life of Rama, son of King Dasharatha of the Kosala kingdom. Prince Rama was banished from the kingdom for 14 years. He was accompanied by his loving wife Sita and his loyal brother, Laxman. Diwali marks the end of the exile and his victory over the evil king Ravana. It is symbolic of the victory of good over evil.
