Mining and agriculture have existed side-by-side in NSW for years. These are just some of the examples of miners and farmers working together to keep both industries strong and ensure local communities continue to grow and prosper in regional NSW.
Mining is a key industry for NSW. It delivers jobs, economic certainty for regional communities and helps provide teachers, nurses, police and public infrastructure through around $1.5 billion a year in royalties that are paid to the State Government, on top of company taxes and other charges. But, surprisingly, mining only uses 0.1% of the state's land and accounts for just 1.5 % of the state's water use.
