SHYBOY AND ALLEE WILLIS DO THE "NEUTRON DANCE"
ShyBoy’s brand new single “Neutron Dance” spins the classic 80s pop smash by the Pointer Sisters into a whole new dimension. The song, originally featured on the Grammy-winning original soundtrack to the film ‘Beverly Hills Cop,’ was co-written by multiplatinum songwriter Allee Willis, who also illustrated the cover art for the new ShyBoy release. She even managed to find time in her busy schedule to animate and direct the accompanying lyric video.
The original version of “Neutron Dance” was released at the height of the Cold War, when there was enormous political tension between the United States and Russia. At the time, the lyrics of the song were mistranslated by the Russian government as “Neutron Bomb” and, as a result, they named Allee Willis to be one of the most dangerous people living in the United States. Her dangerously impressive resume of hit music includes Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” and “Boogie Wonderland,” along with “What Have I Done To Deserve This?” by Pet Shop Boys with Dusty Springfield, the theme from the TV series ‘Friends,’ and the recent Tony-winning Broadway musical ‘The Color Purple.’
ShyBoy is an award-winning vocalist, songwriter, music producer and DJ. His music has been featured in numerous films, TV shows, and games, including the end title he co-wrote and sang for the multiplatinum Capcom video game ‘The Devil May Cry 4.’ He is a resident DJ at Bootie LA (named ‘Best Dance Party’ by the LA Weekly) at The Echoplex in Los Angeles.
“Neutron Dance” is available October 7 on Spotify, iTunes, Amazon and through digital retailers worldwide. The single marks the second time ShyBoy has worked with Allee Willis. Their debut collaboration is the song “Carousel,” featured on ShyBoy’s album ‘Water On Mars.’ The two have been in the studio with music producers Jeff Hoeppner and Mark Nubar, cooking up a series of singles set for release in the coming year.
