The Concerned Residents Coalition is a community group formed in March 2013 to support a thorough and fair assessment of the Hidden Quarry application. The CRC is dedicated to providing reasonable, factual, science-based information to the application process, and in so doing hold the applicant James Dick Construction Ltd. and all levels of government involved to the highest environmental and safety practices. With the environmental health and safety of our community hanging in the balance, the CRC has grown quickly to more than 900 members with new members joining daily. The potential impact of this quarry on the fragile environment of the area cannot be overstated. This quarry mine has been proposed for the 100 acre property at the North East corner of Highway 7 and the 6th Line Eramosa, that's less than 1 kilometre east of Rockwood. If mined the quarry would blast into a major aquifer that could then be easily polluted and due to the porous nature for the rock structures in the area, that pollution could travel far and wide. That's just one of the many hazards associated with this proposal. More are listed at www.hiddenquarry.ca.
