it</text><text start="68.799" dur="4.481">so this is kind of one of those you know</text><text start="71.6" dur="3.68">it was a dream of</text><text start="73.28" dur="4">one person to kind of create this thing</text><text start="75.28" dur="2.72">and to create a commercial offering from</text><text start="77.28" dur="3.36">it</text><text start="78" dur="4.24">there just aren't a lot of the</text><text start="169.519" dur="4.72">following limitations</text><text start="171.12" dur="4.16">so it has the ability to do indexing and</text><text start="174.239" dur="4.561">query just like</text><text start="175.28" dur="4.959">bfs did uh it looks like some</text><text start="178.8" dur="2.96">are going to be some applications are</text><text start="180.239" dur="3.041">going to be dur="5.76">ourselves a fresh install of sky os</text><text start="199.36" dur="4.239">so i had booted from the live cd and</text><text start="201.84" dur="3.52">then immediately decided</text><text actual</text><text start="210.239" dur="4.64">sky os so i have installed it to a disk</text><text start="214" dur="3.84">image</text><text start="214.879" dur="3.521">and now i'm just i'm just about to jump</text><text start="217.84" dur="4.479">in</text><text start="218.4" dur="6.08">um i did an indexing of the disk image</text><text start="222.319" dur="4.161">in case we come across any place where i</text><text start="224.48" dur="3.2">could do some fine files and that kind</text><text start="226.48" dur="3.52">of thing</text><text start="227.68" dur="4.4">obviously i'll kind of watch out for</text><text start="230" dur="5.519">that i know that that is</text><text start="232.08" dur="6.719">a feature of the b file system and so</text><text start="235.519" dur="5.761">if skyos takes you know</text><text start="238.799" dur="4.08">and extends from the b file system then</text><text start="241.28" dur="3.519">the indexing is kind of an important</text><text start="242.879" dur="3.521">piece of that</text><text start="244.799" dur="3.601">when we first boot in we see some</text><text start="246.4" dur="3.36">familiar icons one of course is the</text><text start="248.4" dur="5.199">firefox</text><text start="249.76" dur="6.24">logo an older firefox logo but</text><text start="253.599" dur="3.04">definitely recognizable we've got</text><text start="256" dur="3.84">terminal</text><text start="256.639" dur="5.601">the system manager and storage and these</text><text start="259.84" dur="5.12">icons look</text><text start="262.24" dur="4.16">definitely look familiar at least the</text><text start="264.96" dur="3.28">storage one does</text><text start="266.4" dur="4.079">so let's go ahead and click on the</text><text start="268.24" dur="5.44">storage one and see what we see</text><text start="270.479" dur="4.321">so here is our skyos file manager it</text><text start="273.68" dur="3.44">looks like</text><text start="274.8" dur="4">you can see i have the the disk image</text><text start="277.12" dur="2.32">that i installed it from is still on</text><text start="278.8" dur="2.8">here</text><text start="279.44" dur="3.84">as well as the boot partition that i</text><text start="281.6" dur="3.28">installed too</text><text start="283.28" dur="3.44">on the left hand side we've got our</text><text start="284.88" dur="3.52">different devices and it looks like yep</text><text start="286.72" dur="2.72">i can expand and see these different</text><text start="288.4" dur="3.2">devices</text><text start="289.44" dur="3.36">i have places i'm not sure these are</text><text start="291.6" dur="3.76">bookmarks per se</text><text start="292.8" dur="3.2">but these are you know i can click on</text><text start="295.36" dur="2.96">home and</text><text start="296" dur="3.04">see the home and etc it looks like</text><text start="298.32" dur="3.68">they've got</text><text start="299.04" dur="4.32">two one for music and one for video so</text><text start="302" dur="3.12">it comes with</text><text start="303.36" dur="3.279">a must come with a music player and a</text><text start="305.12" dur="3.44">video player i'm sure we'll we'll try</text><text start="306.639" dur="5.12">those out here in a second</text><text start="308.56" dur="6.32">uh to see what that looks like um</text><text start="311.759" dur="5.601">we've got queries and queries would be</text><text start="314.88" dur="4.48">uh for folks coming from bos this might</text><text start="317.36" dur="4.399">be familiar that you could</text><text start="319.36" dur="3.2">create a little query that you could</text><text start="321.759" dur="4.16">save off</text><text start="322.56" dur="6.24">and then rerun that later so because</text><text start="325.919" dur="3.921">of the queryable file system you can</text><text start="328.8" dur="4.16">make a query that</text><text start="329.84" dur="4.88">like this one says show all my mp3s</text><text start="332.96" dur="3.519">i can just click here and this will be a</text><text start="334.72" dur="4">live updated query</text><text start="336.479" dur="4.56">so if i added additional mp3s they would</text><text start="338.72" dur="4.479">just automatically show up here</text><text start="341.039" dur="4.241">if this works just as the bios version</text><text start="343.199" dur="3.84">did</text><text start="345.28" dur="3.6">you can see the query up here at the top</text><text start="347.039" dur="5.121">with the tabs so one tab</text><text start="348.88" dur="3.92">is looking at the admin home directory</text><text start="352.16" dur="3.2">it looks like</text><text start="352.8" dur="4.32">and then the other tab is looking at the</text><text start="355.36" dur="5.04">live query and see query</text><text start="357.12" dur="5.76">name equals start at mp3</text><text start="360.4" dur="3.359">star looks like it's the query that it's</text><text start="362.88" dur="2.48">running</text><text start="363.759" dur="3.201">past five minutes things that have been</text><text start="365.36" dur="4.88">changed in the past five minutes</text><text start="366.96" dur="4.239">so as we click we get these new tabs</text><text start="370.24" dur="2.88">popping up</text><text start="371.199" dur="4.241">that we can then navigate between this</text><text start="373.12" dur="5.72">is pretty cool i kind of like this</text><text start="375.44" dur="7.12">uh if in the search i did start at</text><text start="378.84" dur="7.079">mpeg yeah mp3 sure</text><text start="382.56" dur="5.6">how do i get the the search i wonder</text><text start="385.919" dur="4.481">or maybe that's only that's like a down</text><text start="388.16" dur="6.72">select of this particular</text><text start="390.4" dur="7.28">got it of the the actual files in the</text><text start="394.88" dur="5.2">kind of a file view rather than a query</text><text start="397.68" dur="4">so if an application data let's say sky</text><text start="400.08" dur="3.76">os</text><text start="401.68" dur="4.079">uh i don't know where i'm going to go</text><text start="403.84" dur="5.199">i'm just trying to find some files</text><text start="405.759" dur="6.801">there's settings okay so we have</text><text start="409.039" dur="6.641">up a folder go to home new tab</text><text start="412.56" dur="5.68">this is pretty cool i gotta say so far</text><text start="415.68" dur="4.639">the ability to kind of create a little</text><text start="418.24" dur="5.2">workspace for myself by creating another</text><text start="420.319" dur="4.961">tab and then doing something in that tab</text><text start="423.44" dur="4.4">and then jumping between tabs that's</text><text start="425.28" dur="4.639">really handy i like that a lot</text><text start="427.84" dur="4.4">i'm not sure how to close it okay right</text><text start="429.919" dur="4.481">click and then close the tab</text><text start="432.24" dur="4.239">so we'll do that for a couple of these</text><text start="434.4" dur="5.28">go ahead and close</text><text start="436.479" dur="6.241">and we've got a temp</text><text start="439.68" dur="4.079">temp uh for that particular user so i</text><text start="442.72" dur="3.68">guess</text><text start="443.759" dur="4.401">if we're doing internet temporary files</text><text start="446.4" dur="4.96">or anything like that</text><text start="448.16" dur="6.159">system settings so the double click</text><text start="451.36" dur="3.92">is sometimes working sometimes not it</text><text start="454.319" dur="4">looks like</text><text start="455.28" dur="4.8">let's try this again star dot please</text><text start="458.319" dur="3.28">take a look at the notification panel</text><text start="460.08" dur="4.72">for additional information do you want</text><text start="461.599" dur="6.88">to debug the application view now</text><text start="464.8" dur="8.799">no ah it crashed okay</text><text start="468.479" dur="6.801">all right so we'll start that back up</text><text start="473.599" dur="3.681">and then we'll get back to where we were</text><text start="475.28" dur="6.479">so we were looking in</text><text start="477.28" dur="6.88">the places home and then</text><text start="481.759" dur="3.601">i think we're looking in system settings</text><text start="484.16" dur="5.12">i was about to do</text><text start="485.36" dur="3.92">star dot xml</text><text start="489.36" dur="6.959">yeah i don't know maybe just xml</text><text start="492.96" dur="5.12">yeah okay so you write just part of the</text><text start="496.319" dur="3.921">file</text><text start="498.08" dur="3.2">file path that you want to down select</text><text start="500.24" dur="3.2">to</text><text start="501.28" dur="3.44">up here and then that's enough to down</text><text start="503.44" dur="4.64">select</text><text start="504.72" dur="5.12">we've got some xml files some icons if i</text><text start="508.08" dur="2.88">double click an icon do i get to view</text><text start="509.84" dur="2.639">the icon</text><text start="510.96" dur="5.04">cool so i've got little image viewer</text><text start="512.479" dur="8.321">that pops up and lets me view the icon</text><text start="516" dur="6.32">i think that's close then xml</text><text start="520.8" dur="4.4">please select the application you want</text><text start="522.32" dur="6.24">to use to open this xml file</text><text start="525.2" dur="7.52">all right do i have the option</text><text start="528.56" dur="7.839">of i don't see</text><text start="532.72" dur="6.96">an editor i do see an ide</text><text start="536.399" dur="8.241">really well</text><text start="539.68" dur="4.96">color me curious all right</text><text start="544.88" dur="6.88">okay so we have an ide sources headers</text><text start="549.839" dur="4.401">it doesn't seem to have opened the file</text><text start="551.76" dur="6.16">but that's okay</text><text start="554.24" dur="6.159">um let's put that so i see at</text><text start="557.92" dur="3.84">the top we can jump back to this id here</text><text start="560.399" dur="3.281">in a second</text><text start="561.76" dur="4.48">but i want to go ahead and finish out</text><text start="563.68" dur="4.4">looking at the file manager first</text><text start="566.24" dur="3.76">and then we'll pull up the id because</text><text start="568.08" dur="4.96">i'm dying to see what kind of stuff</text><text start="570" dur="6.399">it ships with for developers all right</text><text start="573.04" dur="7.12">so new tab home up new</text><text start="576.399" dur="6.56">folder view as previews</text><text start="580.16" dur="3.2">okay so this is going to actually try to</text><text start="582.959" dur="4">look</text><text start="583.36" dur="5.52">inside of the um the image</text><text start="586.959" dur="3.601">you know data or the any kind of</text><text start="588.88" dur="4.24">metadata that lets us</text><text start="590.56" dur="3.52">get a preview of what that particular</text><text start="593.12" dur="3.76">file is</text><text start="594.08" dur="4">cool so what do we have here at the top</text><text start="596.88" dur="4.48">file new tab</text><text start="598.08" dur="5.999">and view show hidden files</text><text start="601.36" dur="4.479">cool it's a pretty straightforward stuff</text><text start="604.079" dur="4.401">um but it does have that</text><text start="605.839" dur="3.201">query system that bos was kind of known</text><text start="608.48" dur="2.96">for</text><text start="609.04" dur="4.72">so very cool very cool it looks like you</text><text start="611.44" dur="5.839">can create new queries here</text><text start="613.76" dur="5.44">so if i hadn't had an mp3 query</text><text start="617.279" dur="3.281">i could just create a new query and then</text><text start="619.2" dur="4.079">have that pop up over here</text><text start="620.56" dur="4.719">very straightforward very intuitive i</text><text start="623.279" dur="3.521">like that</text><text start="625.279" dur="3.521">it's an attractive looking system i</text><text start="626.8" dur="3.279">haven't really talked about that yet</text><text start="628.8" dur="3.599">but you know it's got like rounded</text><text start="630.079" dur="4.641">corners up here at the top</text><text start="632.399" dur="4.161">um the
