[Music][Applause]the deer programit's one of our oldest or longeststandingdevelopment programs in the eu it waswas conceived in the the 1970s so it'sover 40 years old now the deer programit's an acronymstanding for development education andawareness raising andthe overall aim of this uh program is todevelop european citizensawareness and also their their criticalunderstanding of the sustainabledevelopmentand also the the global challenges ortransformational challengesthat we face in a globalized worldone of the kind of the important aspectsof this uh program is we try tomake citizens aware of also theirindividual roles and itsresponsibilities uh towards thesethese global challenges umso yeah uh and and it's our only uhglobal development programthat we have in the eu that's focusedprimarilyon eu citizens so that's makes it kindof uniquefor our dgthe most important one would be throughour call for proposalswhich is open to to civil society andlocal authoritiesand but we also have some some somedirect awardsum these these projects aresuch a vast diversity of types ofprojectsuh whether it's you know our campaigningand advocacy ones andall of those type of actions or globallearning ones for thedoing actions in formal education uhin non-formal educationand you know you can have workshops uhall forms of capacity building actionswe have performances field trips we havereports we have scg watchdogsit's it's truly endless a vast array ofdifferent different actionsso yeah that's that's the deer programthe european consensus developmentrecognizes young people as importantagents of development and changeand therefore as contributors to the the2030 agendaand the deer program walks the talk onthis if you willso so that's some of the thinkingthinkingbehind it we also see youth as as alsouh the best uh bang for our buck insenses theyyou know as the recent euro barometershaveshown youth are also the most open tonew ideas open toto to to to change umand especially with things like the thedigital age that we live in now they arethe most adapt to that so wethere's many reasons why they werecognize them as our best multipliersof our messagesthat we want to to pass on so that's whywe've targeted themspecifically
