surprise</text><text start="17.279" dur="4.801">then when ibm was looking for a new pop</text><text start="19.439" dur="6.481">name for os2 it decided to adopt the</text><text start="22.08" dur="6.72">word warp is os2 fast and powerful is it</text><text start="25.92" dur="4.24">more powerful than the new windows 95</text><text start="28.8" dur="3.36">we&amp;#39;ll try to get answers to those</text><text start="30.16" dur="5.2">questions today as we take a look at the</text><text start="32.16" dur="4.44">new os2 on this edition of the computer</text><text start="35.36" try os2</text><text start="88.88" dur="3.84">warp most people are using windows 31</text><text start="90.72" dur="4.48">right now should i wait around and buy</text><text start="92.72" dur="3.84">windows 95 we have both of them up and</text><text start="95.2" dur="3.919">running here this is a beta version of</text><text start="96.56" dur="4.32">wind 95 os 2 warp over here give us just</text><text start="99.119" dur="4.32">a brief introduction to those two</text><text start="100.88" dur="3.919">interfaces okay windows 95 is for people</text><text start="103.439" dur="3.841">who are sold on windows and they want to</text><text start="104.799" dur="3.921">run windows applications the 95 refers</text><text start="107.28" dur="2.799">to the year they expected to ship i</text><text start="108.72" dur="3.439">technologically i would call it about</text><text start="110.079" dur="4.641">windows 92</text><text start="112.159" dur="3.92">it&amp;#39;s more like windows 3.1 on steroids</text><text start="114.72" dur="3.2">it&amp;#39;s based on a very easy to use</text><text start="116.079" dur="4.161">interface it&amp;#39;s got a bunch of cascading</text><text start="117.92" dur="3.92">menus where you select the application</text><text start="120.24" dur="3.68">when you have applications running it</text><text start="121.84" dur="3.68">puts it on the taskbar here so you can</text><text start="123.92" dur="3.6">it&amp;#39;s easy to go up and back from app to</text><text start="125.52" dur="3.519">app exactly</text><text start="127.52" dur="2.959">os 2 on the other hand is is more</text><text start="129.039" dur="2.961">difficult to get used to at first but it</text><text start="130.479" dur="3.601">has a more powerful desktop it&amp;#39;s very</text><text start="132" dur="4.08">object oriented in its nature built a</text><text start="134.08" dur="3.28">lot around things like templates where</text><text start="136.08" dur="2.64">if you want to create a new folder on</text><text start="137.36" dur="3.519">your desktop</text><text start="138.72" dur="3.44">you would drag you&amp;#39;d pull off a sticky</text><text start="140.879" dur="3.681">folder there and create it on the</text><text start="142.16" dur="5.68">desktop</text><text start="144.56" dur="5.84">and do you drop drag and drop your items</text><text start="147.84" dur="4.479">into the desktop now this can be turned</text><text start="150.4" dur="4.96">into a template so that if you&amp;#39;re using</text><text start="152.319" dur="5.441">a template type style letter</text><text start="155.36" dur="4.159">you can tell it</text><text start="157.76" dur="3.119">that that&amp;#39;s now it&amp;#39;s a template so take</text><text start="159.519" dur="2.641">anything you&amp;#39;ve created make it a</text><text start="160.879" dur="2.64">template exactly</text><text start="162.16" dur="2.56">and so you can just drag and drop this</text><text start="163.519" dur="4.321">across and you create a new letter with</text><text start="164.72" dur="4.32">the basic properties of the first letter</text><text start="167.84" dur="2.88">same thing with the folder there are</text><text start="169.04" dur="3.44">settings you can use to change the</text><text start="170.72" dur="4.08">behavior of a folder so if you want this</text><text start="172.48" dur="4.08">to become a work area</text><text start="174.8" dur="3.04">and you have this letter open while</text><text start="176.56" dur="3.36">you&amp;#39;re using this folder you close the</text><text start="177.84" dur="4.64">folder and it closes the letter</text><text start="179.92" dur="4.399">open the folder it opens the letter</text><text start="182.48" dur="3.839">so it restores you to whatever state you</text><text start="184.319" dur="3.361">were when you actually close that folder</text><text start="186.319" dur="4">and you get all kinds of cool warp</text><text start="187.68" dur="4.72">sounds exactly okay today we&amp;#39;ll look at</text><text start="190.319" dur="3.84">os2 warp to see what everyone&amp;#39;s talking</text><text start="192.4" dur="4.24">about and help you decide if you should</text><text start="194.159" dur="4.401">consider using warp now ibm has made a</text><text start="196.64" dur="3.92">lot of noise about warp trying to take</text><text start="198.56" dur="4.16">advantage of the delay in the release of</text><text start="200.56" dur="4.08">windows 95. we&amp;#39;re going to start with a</text><text start="202.72" dur="3.92">look at how a basically boring thing</text><text start="204.64" dur="4.16">like an operating system can become the</text><text start="206.64" dur="3.36">subject of a worldwide publicity</text><text start="208.8" dur="2.56">campaign</text><text start="210" dur="3.519">i gotta tell you when i first heard</text><text start="211.36" dur="4.56">about kodiak island alaska the image of</text><text start="213.519" dur="4.241">high tech didn&amp;#39;t exactly come to mind i</text><text start="215.92" dur="3.92">mean it is the second largest island in</text><text start="217.76" dur="5.28">the united states but there&amp;#39;s almost as</text><text start="219.84" dur="5.52">many bears as there are people</text><text start="223.04" dur="4.8">when ibm was ready to launch its latest</text><text start="225.36" dur="5.84">version of os2 the company&amp;#39;s approach</text><text start="227.84" dur="5.52">was hardly low-key instead ibm mounted a</text><text start="231.2" dur="4.16">massive advertising and public relations</text><text start="233.36" dur="4.879">campaign including a trip around the</text><text start="235.36" dur="4.799">world to visit os2 users and a splashy</text><text start="238.239" dur="4.72">new york stage show that featured</text><text start="240.159" dur="5.44">leonard nimoy and a star trek theme</text><text start="242.959" dur="4.721">computer computer ready lock on to</text><text start="245.599" dur="4.321">coordinates for ibm senior vice</text><text start="247.68" dur="4.72">president and group executive bob</text><text start="249.92" dur="2.48">labonte</text><text start="253.04" dur="4.56">why all the noise to introduce a new</text><text start="254.72" dur="4.72">version of an existing product ibm says</text><text start="257.6" dur="3.039">that&amp;#39;s just what they had to counter</text><text start="259.44" dur="2.56">noise</text><text start="260.639" dur="2.321">we are</text><text start="262" dur="3.84">still</text><text start="262.96" dur="6.32">competing in in</text><text start="265.84" dur="5.28">a market that</text><text start="269.28" dur="3.52">has a lot of</text><text start="271.12" dur="3.76">noise about</text><text start="272.8" dur="4.72">about the next version of windows that</text><text start="274.88" dur="4.879">has a lot of anticipation and</text><text start="277.52" dur="2.239">and</text><text start="279.84" dur="2.72">we</text><text start="280.72" dur="5.919">delivered it first</text><text start="282.56" dur="5.76">and so how do you announce that in in a</text><text start="286.639" dur="2.801">in an environment where there&amp;#39;s lots of</text><text start="288.32" dur="3.04">noise</text><text start="289.44" dur="3.28">what do you do to tell the world we&amp;#39;re</text><text start="291.36" dur="3.2">here first</text><text start="292.72" dur="4.16">ibm also faced the challenge of</text><text start="294.56" dur="4.8">convincing end users that the new os2</text><text start="296.88" dur="3.759">warp was not a big complicated product</text><text start="299.36" dur="3.2">better suited for corporate and</text><text start="300.639" dur="4.481">scientific work than everyday small</text><text start="302.56" dur="4.639">office jobs but the emphasis on ease of</text><text start="305.12" dur="4.079">use was so effective that some people</text><text start="307.199" dur="4.161">started to wonder about the new version</text><text start="309.199" dur="4.081">kind of an interesting</text><text start="311.36" dur="3.76">consequence of that is that there were</text><text start="313.28" dur="3.919">there was some</text><text start="315.12" dur="5.519">perception in the market after the</text><text start="317.199" dur="5.121">launch that that somehow it was less</text><text start="320.639" dur="4.321">than it used to be</text><text start="322.32" dur="4.879">we were so successful at</text><text start="324.96" dur="3.679">at reaching end users with a message</text><text start="327.199" dur="3.521">about about</text><text start="328.639" dur="5.201">this is why it&amp;#39;s why you want to use</text><text start="330.72" dur="4.479">this product that that some of our</text><text start="333.84" dur="3.919">our</text><text start="335.199" dur="5.361">corporate customers said now is</text><text start="337.759" dur="4.961">everything still there that used to be</text><text start="340.56" dur="4.479">while ibm&amp;#39;s main goal may be to show</text><text start="342.72" dur="4.56">once reluctant to users that os2 warp is</text><text start="345.039" dur="4.801">now a genuine alternative to windows the</text><text start="347.28" dur="4.96">company also saw the windows 95 delay as</text><text start="349.84" dur="5.6">a rare opportunity a chance to fill a</text><text start="352.24" dur="5.76">gap left wide open by microsoft</text><text start="355.44" dur="5.44">what microsoft is doing with windows 95</text><text start="358" dur="5.759">is creating a gap in the market you&amp;#39;re</text><text start="360.88" dur="5.2">basically telling</text><text start="363.759" dur="5.361">all the all the users of windows all</text><text start="366.08" dur="5.6">those 60 million users those famous 60</text><text start="369.12" dur="4.079">million users that</text><text start="371.68" dur="3.2">what you have</text><text start="373.199" dur="4">isn&amp;#39;t good</text><text start="374.88" dur="4.8">so you need something new</text><text start="377.199" dur="5.361">they&amp;#39;re telling everybody that</text><text start="379.68" dur="5.12">so they&amp;#39;re telling the market</text><text start="382.56" dur="4.639">what you have is not good enough</text><text start="384.8" dur="4.48">you need something new and that it you</text><text start="387.199" dur="5.12">know all the market researchers call</text><text start="389.28" dur="6.08">that a chasm or a market gap</text><text start="392.319" dur="5.921">and that&amp;#39;s when things can happen that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="395.36" dur="4.399">when a smart competitor</text><text start="398.24" dur="3.519">can take share</text><text start="399.759" dur="3.271">for the computer chronicles i&amp;#39;m giles</text><text start="401.759" dur="3.761">all right well we talked a little bit</text><text start="426.8" dur="3.44">before with nick nick was a fan of os2</text><text start="428.96" dur="3.12">he thought warp was pretty cool but he</text><text start="430.24" dur="3.76">said you do have to learn how to use it</text><text start="432.08" dur="4.08">so you&amp;#39;ve got to justify to me number</text><text start="434" dur="3.759">one why i should spend the time learning</text><text start="436.16" dur="3.92">and how you make it easy for me to learn</text><text start="437.759" dur="4.401">to use warp we have done a lot of things</text><text start="440.08" dur="3.76">in this version of os2 in warp to make</text><text start="442.16" dur="3.2">it easier to use because we understood</text><text start="443.84" dur="3.28">that and so some of the things that</text><text start="445.36" dur="3.679">we&amp;#39;ve done that are pretty neat</text><text start="447.12" dur="3.84">every object on the screen as he had</text><text start="449.039" dur="3.921">mentioned has a pop-up menu so if you</text><text start="450.96" dur="4.079">click on anything with the right mouse</text><text start="452.96" dur="5.28">button there&amp;#39;s a pop-up menu one of the</text><text start="455.039" dur="4.72">menu items is always help so no matter</text><text start="458.24" dur="3.679">where you are you can click with the</text><text start="459.759" dur="5.121">right mouse button and get to help</text><text start="461.919" dur="6">in that same vein if we look into os2</text><text start="464.88" dur="5.039">all of the documentation is all here on</text><text start="467.919" dur="3.601">your hard disk now you could get it off</text><text start="469.919" dur="3.761">there if you needed the room but the</text><text start="471.52" dur="3.679">idea is if you happen to lose the books</text><text start="473.68" dur="3.04">that&amp;#39;s all right all your manuals are</text><text start="475.199" dur="3.68">with you if you want them with you</text><text start="476.72" dur="4.72">everything right now here&amp;#39;s the neatest</text><text start="478.879" dur="5.281">part for a new user it&amp;#39;s a tutorial</text><text start="481.44" dur="4.96">that&amp;#39;s online and it will introduce you</text><text start="484.16" dur="4.64">to every aspect of os2</text><text start="486.4" dur="4">from how to run applications how to</text><text start="488.8" dur="3.2">customize things</text><text start="490.4" dur="3.359">and while you&amp;#39;re in here now let&amp;#39;s say i</text><text start="492" dur="3.759">wanted to learn about changing colors</text><text start="493.759" dur="4.241">here&amp;#39;s how you do it but i&amp;#39;m a windows</text><text start="495.759" dur="4.56">user and i know how to do it in windows</text><text start="498" dur="4.639">if you click down here on the windows</text><text start="500.319" dur="4.401">icon it says well in os2 the control</text><text start="502.639" dur="3.761">panel is similar to the windows colors</text><text start="504.72" dur="4.159">option so it&amp;#39;ll talk to you like a</text><text start="506.4" dur="4.56">windows user absolutely and if you get</text><text start="508.879" dur="3.84">to be really good with os2 you click on</text><text start="510.96" dur="3.28">expert and it&amp;#39;ll teach you tips and</text><text start="512.719" dur="3.281">techniques for the special user all</text><text start="514.24" dur="2.96">right so it is easy to get in there take</text><text start="516" dur="2.719">the tutorial figure out what you&amp;#39;re</text><text start="517.2" dur="3.759">doing absolutely let&amp;#39;s go to some of the</text><text start="518.719" dur="4.8">basics now david launching a program in</text><text start="520.959" dur="5.121">os2 there&amp;#39;s a couple of different ways</text><text start="523.519" dur="5.201">one i could just double click on an icon</text><text start="526.08" dur="4.96">i like one click and so what you can do</text><text start="528.72" dur="4.16">is you can use the launchpad down here</text><text start="531.04" dur="4.56">and the launchpad puts on those</text><text start="532.88" dur="5.44">frequently used programs for example if</text><text start="535.6" dur="4.64">i want this whole folder of information</text><text start="538.32" dur="4.88">that i showed before i could drop it</text><text start="540.24" dur="5.039">down here put it where i wanted it and</text><text start="543.2" dur="3.36">now with one click i can open that</text><text start="545.279" dur="3.281">folder</text><text start="546.56" dur="3.839">if i wanted to put it on other parts i</text><text start="548.56" dur="3.839">could actually drop it down and put it</text><text start="550.399" dur="2.801">on one of these so that it&amp;#39;s a little</text><text start="552.399" dur="3.521">bit</text><text start="553.2" dur="5.199">easier to get to there and so i have the</text><text start="555.92" dur="4.4">things on my desktop that i use normally</text><text start="558.399" dur="3.841">and i get rid of the extra things</text><text start="560.32" dur="3.68">because we found out a cluttered desktop</text><text start="562.24" dur="3.039">is too hard to use for a lot of users so</text><text start="564" dur="2.56">this makes it a little bit easier for</text><text start="565.279" dur="2.641">them all right now one thing you&amp;#39;re</text><text start="566.56" dur="2.719">doing with warp which is kind of nice</text><text start="567.92" dur="2.72">now is you are bundling it with</text><text start="569.279" dur="3.601">something you call the bonus pack so it</text><text start="570.64" dur="4.4">comes with a lot of capability built in</text><text start="572.88" dur="3.84">not just the operating system interface</text><text start="575.04" dur="3.04">what&amp;#39;s in that bonus package well before</text><text start="576.72" dur="4">we show the bonus pack i want you to</text><text start="578.08" dur="4">remember that os2 runs your dos programs</text><text start="580.72" dur="3.2">and if you have windows it runs your</text><text start="582.08" dur="4.08">windows programs and it uses real</text><text start="583.92" dur="4.479">windows so it does it really really well</text><text start="586.16" dur="5.2">right what comes along with the bonus</text><text start="588.399" dur="4.481">pack our os2 programs all the way from</text><text start="591.36" dur="3.599">well here&amp;#39;s a fax program and i&amp;#39;ll show</text><text start="592.88" dur="3.92">you a little bit about it in a moment</text><text start="594.959" dur="5.601">person to person which allows me to do</text><text start="596.8" dur="5.76">video teleconferencing all packaged in</text><text start="600.56" dur="3.92">here&amp;#39;s a multimedia viewer and what it</text><text start="602.56" dur="4.24">will allow me to do is if i want to</text><text start="604.48" dur="4.479">listen to audio now here&amp;#39;s an audio file</text><text start="606.8" dur="4.4">on my hard disk i can just go ahead and</text><text start="608.959" dur="4.481">click on the audio file and while it</text><text start="611.2" dur="4.879">plays that let me go and look at a file</text><text start="613.44" dur="4.88">let&amp;#39;s say it&amp;#39;s kodak cd-rom and notice</text><text start="616.079" dur="5.041">that while i did that i can go ahead and</text><text start="618.32" dur="4.72">work so even while i&amp;#39;m off loading one</text><text start="621.12" dur="3.92">file i can go ahead and work with the</text><text start="623.04" dur="4.4">system and that&amp;#39;s because os2 is</text><text start="625.04" dur="4.4">preemptive multitasking the fact that i</text><text start="627.44" dur="3.92">can be doing these things and it doesn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="629.44" dur="4.639">interfere with my other running programs</text><text start="631.36" dur="4.4">okay other things in the bonus pack</text><text start="634.079" dur="3.44">let&amp;#39;s see the multimedia that comes</text><text start="635.76" dur="5.28">along will allow me to record and play</text><text start="637.519" dur="5.841">back audio and record video record video</text><text start="641.04" dur="4.32">you can go to your local pc store buy a</text><text start="643.36" dur="3.36">card off the shelf and os2 warp will</text><text start="645.36" dur="3.2">probably support it so you can be</text><text start="646.72" dur="3.44">recording a video and here&amp;#39;s the neat</text><text start="648.56" dur="3.68">part ibm works</text><text start="650.16" dur="4">ibm works has been for sale in europe</text><text start="652.24" dur="4.4">for quite a while it&amp;#39;s a real word</text><text start="654.16" dur="5.119">processor spreadsheet database real</text><text start="656.64" dur="5.28">applications not little ones and it uses</text><text start="659.279" dur="4.641">some of the features within os2 warp so</text><text start="661.92" dur="3.52">if i&amp;#39;ve wanted to send a fax off now</text><text start="663.92" dur="3.76">here&amp;#39;s a fax that i&amp;#39;ve already got</text><text start="665.44" dur="3.839">addressed to someone i know that because</text><text start="667.68" dur="3.599">i&amp;#39;ve got a little icon in the corner</text><text start="669.279" dur="4.481">that shows it&amp;#39;s addressed if i wanted to</text><text start="671.279" dur="5.12">say add someone else&amp;#39;s address to it i</text><text start="673.76" dur="4">drag and drop and i&amp;#39;ve just added a</text><text start="676.399" dur="3.921">second address</text><text start="677.76" dur="4.4">now when i drag this over to my fax</text><text start="680.32" dur="3.92">which happens to be in the launchpad i</text><text start="682.16" dur="3.919">go off and fax the document and that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="684.24" dur="2.88">it and that&amp;#39;s it they&amp;#39;re live objects</text><text start="686.079" dur="2.641">you don&amp;#39;t have to go in there and</text><text start="687.12" dur="3.68">actually do anything the user doesn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="688.72" dur="4.559">need to know this is object technology</text><text start="690.8" dur="3.92">but in fact underneath the covers os2</text><text start="693.279" dur="3.441">warp took the phone number out of the</text><text start="694.72" dur="3.52">address book and put it on the document</text><text start="696.72" dur="3.2">all right lastly david one of the cool</text><text start="698.24" dur="3.2">things everybody wants to get online and</text><text start="699.92" dur="3.68">get in cyber world and get onto the</text><text start="701.44" dur="3.6">internet how do you do that with warp i</text><text start="703.6" dur="3.52">think you guys are focused on that a bit</text><text start="705.04" dur="4.799">we have a lot it&amp;#39;s called the internet</text><text start="707.12" dur="4.64">connection for os2 and what it allows me</text><text start="709.839" dur="4">to do is with a couple of clicks of the</text><text start="711.76" dur="4.319">mouse put in my name address phone</text><text start="713.839" dur="4.081">number i can use ibm&amp;#39;s network to get on</text><text start="716.079" dur="3.921">the internet or i can use someone else</text><text start="717.92" dur="4.32">as a service provider and all of the</text><text start="720" dur="3.92">graphical tools from gopher in fact i&amp;#39;ve</text><text start="722.24" dur="4.399">got a web explorer that&amp;#39;s running right</text><text start="723.92" dur="4.719">now so all that front end net software</text><text start="726.639" dur="3.921">is in that bonus pack and i never have</text><text start="728.639" dur="3.681">to use a unix command</text><text start="730.56" dur="3.279">it&amp;#39;s pretty neat and i think if you look</text><text start="732.32" dur="3.84">at everything that&amp;#39;s packaged along with</text><text start="733.839" dur="4.081">os2 warp especially the internet stuff</text><text start="736.16" dur="3.28">and look at the price of this product we</text><text start="737.92" dur="3.2">are definitely bundling it to try to</text><text start="739.44" dur="3.92">sell masses of the product all right</text><text start="741.12" dur="4.32">looks great thanks very much david</text><text start="743.36" dur="4.08">all right now one thing ibm is known for</text><text start="745.44" dur="3.6">is its speech recognition work so it&amp;#39;s</text><text start="747.44" dur="4.399">not surprising that one of the first</text><text start="749.04" dur="5.44">add-ons to os2 warp is a utility that</text><text start="751.839" dur="5.12">lets you communicate with os2 using only</text><text start="754.48" dur="4.24">your voice here to show us voice pilot</text><text start="756.959" dur="3.281">for warp is david schlechter how you</text><text start="758.72" dur="3.52">doing david hi thank you stuart all</text><text start="760.24" dur="4.719">right david we&amp;#39;ve seen a lot of uh voice</text><text start="762.24" dur="4.32">input stuff in the past on this show and</text><text start="764.959" dur="3.921">a lot of it is stuff i really wouldn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="766.56" dur="4.399">use to work with i might play with it uh</text><text start="768.88" dur="4.32">is voice pilot in warp stuff you&amp;#39;d</text><text start="770.959" dur="3.841">really work with absolutely this was an</text><text start="773.2" dur="3.52">application that we designed from</text><text start="774.8" dur="3.839">scratch to be used in found was</text><text start="1013.12" dur="2.959">that</text><text start="1014" dur="4.24">it does multitask</text><text start="1016.079" dur="2.581">and i found that it had advantages not</text><text dur="2.799">could do</text><text start="1022.959" dur="3.681">more than one thing at a time</text><text start="1024.799" dur="3.441">i tend to do a lot of research and i</text><text start="1026.64" dur="3.279">have cd-rom</text><text start="1028.24" dur="4.079">research materials</text><text start="1029.919" dur="5.28">they&amp;#39;re they&amp;#39;re dos programs</text><text start="1032.319" dur="5.52">and i run those and when i launch an</text><text start="1035.199" dur="4.72">inquiry to search the cd-rom i&amp;#39;ll launch</text><text start="1037.839" dur="4.321">the inquiry and then go do something</text><text start="1039.919" dur="3.601">else while it&amp;#39;s spinning the cd-rom and</text><text start="1042.16" dur="3.519">looking for the material that i&amp;#39;ve asked</text><text start="1043.52" dur="4.559">for attorney o&amp;#39;neill was also looking</text><text start="1045.679" dur="4.801">for a way to overcome the dos 640k</text><text start="1048.079" dur="4.081">memory barrier he discovered that os2</text><text start="1050.48" dur="3.92">warp would let him allocate as much or</text><text start="1052.16" dur="4.72">as little memory as he chose for windows</text><text start="1054.4" dur="4.32">dos and os2 applications</text><text start="1056.88" dur="4.159">while the operating system is slower to</text><text start="1058.72" dur="4.64">start and uses over 30 megabytes of hard</text><text start="1061.039" dur="4.321">disk space john decided that os2&amp;#39;s</text><text start="1063.36" dur="3.04">greater stability tipped the scales in</text><text start="1065.36" dur="3.04">its favor</text><text start="1066.4" dur="3.84">now he would like to increase the os 2</text><text start="1068.4" dur="4.08">presence in the office well i think it&amp;#39;s</text><text start="1070.24" dur="4.08">easier to use than windows</text><text start="1072.48" dur="3.36">we have</text><text start="1074.32" dur="3.68">several secretaries here in that&amp;#39;s probably something microsoft</text><text start="1091.84" dur="4.8">may come out with but for right now i</text><text start="1093.919" dur="6">think that would be a big advantage</text><text start="1096.64" dur="5.039">and since we do use dos programs here</text><text start="1099.919" dur="4.161">os 2 does a great job of running dos</text><text start="1101.679" and the program manager in</text><text start="1450.88" dur="4.88">windows by contrast is awful</text><text start="1453.44" dur="4.479">the internet access kit and the other</text><text start="1455.76" dur="3.76">applications that are bundled with it</text><text start="1457.919" dur="3.681">make it a very good deal and they all</text><text start="1459.52" dur="4.08">work quite well as far as i can tell on</text><text start="1461.6" dur="4.24">the downside the installation is still</text><text start="1463.6" dur="4.24">not good enough it needs to be improved</text><text start="1465.84" dur="3.839">the hardware support definitely needs to</text><text start="1467.84" dur="3.68">be improved</text><text start="1469.679" dur="4.321">there needs to be compression built in</text><text start="1471.52" dur="4">disk compression out of the box and like</text><text start="1474" dur="3.84">windows itself it really should have</text><text start="1475.52" dur="4.399">eight megabytes not dur="5.04">finally is this all about trying to get</text><text start="1501.84" dur="4.959">the macintosh interface onto a pc is the</text><text start="1504.48" dur="4.079">is the is the windows os 2 yes the ease of use is very</text><text start="1513.039" dur="6.161">important but the mac does not equal the</text><text start="1516" dur="5.44">multitasking right now in os2</text><text
