i get asked by many subscribers andviewers on my channelis it possible to watch netflix infreebsdand yes it is watch the videoand i'll show you a very easy way to doit via a fantastic little scriptin no time at all[Music]now the method i'm going to use in thisvideo iswhat is essentially used in nomad bsdand to install eithergoogle chrome vivaldi or brave and ituses a small shell scriptwhich basically creates a small jailfor some ubuntu binaries that actuallyinstalls widevine which is essential forviewing some drmcontent such as netflix or amazon primeetcso on a brand new install of freebsdwith matei've only installed firefox in whichwe're going to use firefox now to go tothegithub page of the particular projectthat we needto download sojust going to google and we will searchlet's get past the uh i agree pageso we're going to googleand if we type in linux hyphenbrowser hypheninstaller so linux browser installerand it tells you that linux browserinstaller is a born shell script toinstall linux versions of the chromebraveor vivaldi browsers under freebsd into alinux or ubuntu focaljail they allow you to use web serviceslike netflixprime video or spotify which requirewide vinei'll link to that particular how to aswellas well as the github page that we'relooking atand as you can see well you could cloneitum but all i'm going to do is justdownload the zip file containingthe uh necessary things it's a loteasierso we download it's very small file soit downloads us almost instantlyand extract it to the same directory youmight as well i mean it makes it easierso click on that just move out of theway i'm going to open up a terminalin this directoryuh it's a rather long working directorynamego into rootand we're just going to have a look atwhat's in the directory you can seeand the thing that we're actuallyinterested in is the shell script thereso just paste that inif we run it as dot slash linux browserinstaller it'll bring up the uhvarious command switches we can usebut really all we're going to be usingin this demonstration isinstall so if you've got linux browserinstallerinstall and then chrome so you gotchromebrave or vivaldi and we'll let it do itsthing it does take a while um reallyjuston the first run it takes longer on thesecond run everything's in place and itjust installs theparticular browserso we've speeded this up quite a bitthere we goand there's a menu entry it does saythat you should really start it usingcommand line which will i will show youlater but for this instance it actuallymakes a menu entryso we'll just do that and there we gogoogle chrome is running on freebsdso uh get started and skipif i can remember and yeah we'll justleave it at thatand skip againset that as default actually just incaseand no thank you and there we goso the question that you will ask iswill it run netflixand yes it does well no i'll just signinafter i've signed and put the detailsthere it is i'm not going to umi'm not going to run anything because iget a copyright claim or a strikebut there you go there's the full gamutofnetflix and there's a previewand that's all we're gonna do so itworks perfectly wellfully functional and very fast actuallyso we'll just open a new taband as you can see i've already testedthethe drm before we got going so to showyou again that they are in playersthis uh little demo here is detectedusingvineand we'll leave the resolution as it isi thinkand as you can see it plays wellso perfectly happy with that i'm notgonnaplay anymore just in case so as you cansee it's perfectlyuh perfectly doable to get a nicebit of wide range support in freebsdusing thethe linux way it would be better if wehad a native butthat's not going to happen and that'sreally down to googlenow if we try and install brave it's thesame procedure as before with this wholebrave at the endand it is a lot quicker this timethere we go and here we are in the bravebrowserlike i said in the nomad bsd video whichi covered the same topicsuh this is not one that i use at all soumi don't know the ins and outs so i'lljust skip thethere you goi don't use it it seems like a verycompetent browser seems fairly quicki did get questions on the other videoabout can iaccess netflix uh or drmyou know widevine via any other browserother than google chromebut so we'll have a look we'll just dothe wide vine testand agree again so we're going to testit on the same oneand there's a little bit more yeah it'snot if ineed to install like that and again uhjust like thatrestarts and yeahit's plain so yes you don't have towatch netflix presumablyuh in google chrome if you don't want toit should work in braveand we'll have a look at the topmake sure there's no runaway processorsif it looks fineso now what we're going to do is we'regoing to installvivaldi i think in the future i thinkthethe range of browsers may increase nonow we're going to try vivaldi againi'll fast forwardand we'll start it with linux hyphenvivaldi this is basically the same waywe did with bravelinux hyphen brave and there we gothere's vivaldiset defaultand again what we'll do oh that'sinteresting jump to versioni don't know what we'll do with thatwe'll leave thatand we'll just go to umtest the uh wide vineagain if you didn't want to use uh braveor google chromeand yes of course it worksso that's really good it works acrossall three browsers[Music]so what do i think of this group i thinkthis script isa fantastic addition to freebsd andnormadbst and all the rest of thebeasties if they want to use itbut in particular freebsd in that sensethat it will answer the question thatmany viewers oftenleave and say now you know they wouldmove tofreebsd full-time if there was a waythat you could watchnetflix on freebsd or if they could runbravenow this way will enable them to do thatit's fast it's efficientand there's no problems that i haveactually encountered yet um everythingseems fairly stable and the tools thatyou get to manageyour installation seem to be verycomprehensive soit would be great if this particularscript was part of theuh ports uh if it was in the packagetreemaybe it will i mean you know the theoffer of the script has done somewonderful things forauto mounting etc little scripts thathe's done for thatand also the work that he's put intonomad bst and their wonderfulimplementationso anything's possible but i wouldrecommend this script to anybody whois perhaps moving over from linux whoperhaps wants tobring with them their wonderful netflixlibrary and they miss thator just anything like that sotry it out try it on a test machine ifyou wishi mean you know or a virtual machine butgive it a tryand see what you think because i ipersonally think it's fantastic and i'llbe using it myself all the timeand
