we do software</text><text start="32.5" dur="7.14">releases so just in case anyone&amp;#39;s</text><text start="35.71" dur="7.2">wondering this should give you some</text><text start="39.64" dur="11.579">ideas as to what we don&amp;#39;t do software</text><text start="42.91" dur="10.71">releases it&amp;#39;s important to us that we</text><text start="51.219" dur="9.721">produce a finished product when it&amp;#39;s</text><text start="53.62" dur="10.86">released for general so we consider to</text><text start="60.94" dur="7.47">still be in testing sometimes this means</text><text start="64.48" dur="7.05">that the release takes longer than we</text><text start="68.41" dur="6.93">would like it to take but from our</text><text start="71.53" dur="6.51">perspective it&amp;#39;s more important to put</text><text start="75.34" dur="5.66">out a finished product than get</text><text start="78.04" dur="2.96">something out quickly</text><text start="81.06" dur="6.73">we don&amp;#39;t rush through a release cycle</text><text start="84.88" dur="6.599">there&amp;#39;s nothing we don&amp;#39;t have anything</text><text start="87.79" dur="5.7">like Mozilla&amp;#39;s rapid release cycle where</text><text start="91.479" dur="5.941">the goal is to just crank up version</text><text start="93.49" dur="5.699">numbers our goal is to provide the the</text><text start="97.42" dur="6.239">best updates to the software that we</text><text start="99.189" dur="6.511">have and to realistically number those</text><text start="103.659" dur="6.631">updates as to whether it&amp;#39;s a minor</text><text start="105.7" dur="6.83">update or a major update next slide</text><text start="110.29" dur="2.24">please</text><text start="113.34" dur="10.889">but we do do is test our software very</text><text start="117.54" dur="9.869">carefully for regressions we try to make</text><text start="124.229" dur="6.241">sure that everything we want to get into</text><text start="127.409" dur="5.821">release gets into that release things</text><text start="130.47" dur="5.43">that are important particularly during</text><text start="133.23" dur="6.089">the five got over in cycle things are</text><text start="135.9" dur="11.07">important to get the operating system</text><text start="139.319" dur="9.541">install its you can&amp;#39;t enjoy the</text><text start="146.97" dur="5.13">operating system if you can&amp;#39;t get it on</text><text start="148.86" dur="6.689">to the hardware so a lot of our focus</text><text start="152.1" dur="5.25">has been on what we need to do in order</text><text start="155.549" dur="6.571">to get the operating system through the</text><text start="157.35" dur="9.719">storm and if we have an update that will</text><text start="162.12" dur="7.979">potentially get more users running up</text><text start="167.069" dur="6.121">and running then we will hold off that</text><text start="170.099" dur="5.67">update until it&amp;#39;s ready to go so that we</text><text start="173.19" dur="6.72">can get those other users using the</text><text start="175.769" dur="5.641">operating system this same concept holds</text><text start="179.91" dur="6.09">true for the other things that we do</text><text start="181.41" dur="6.299">such as the package map there are lots</text><text start="186" dur="2.459">of new features coming in the package</text><text start="187.709" dur="5.071">manager</text><text start="188.459" dur="8.721">but until they&amp;#39;re actually ready they&amp;#39;re</text><text start="192.78" dur="6.9">not going anywhere we&amp;#39;re still testing</text><text start="197.18" dur="5.649">whenever we have a very small group of</text><text start="199.68" dur="7.23">testers which means that testing may</text><text start="202.829" dur="8.22">take longer then for companies that have</text><text start="206.91" dur="6.62">a thousand people testing it once next</text><text start="211.049" dur="2.481">slide please</text><text start="214.83" dur="4.17">just to give you an idea what I&amp;#39;m</text><text start="216.57" dur="8.73">talking about releases major releases</text><text start="219" dur="10.44">are four five six seven dot zero it&amp;#39;s</text><text start="225.3" dur="7.52">the next slide after that I&amp;#39;m watching</text><text start="229.44" dur="16.37">I&amp;#39;m watching in the core my screening</text><text start="232.82" dur="12.99">the live feed release terminology is a</text><text start="247.16" dur="8.74">significant point where this is 5.1 5.2</text><text start="252.63" dur="7.95">we haven&amp;#39;t gotten beyond the significant</text><text start="255.9" dur="6.78">point release of 5.0 bug-fix and</text><text start="260.58" dur="7.19">maintenance releases are the next digit</text><text start="262.68" dur="9.6">so we&amp;#39;ve gone from 5.0 in May of 2017</text><text start="267.77" dur="10.9">through 5.3 and the 5.0 dot three and</text><text start="272.28" dur="16.2">we&amp;#39;re coming up on five at $0 next like</text><text start="278.67" dur="13.28">this so we hadn&amp;#39;t really anticipated a</text><text start="288.48" dur="9.81">5.0 dot 5 release the original plan was</text><text start="291.95" dur="9.37">divided by 0.4 to 5.1 but while we&amp;#39;ve</text><text start="298.29" dur="7.02">been working on 5.0 dot or we&amp;#39;ve been</text><text start="301.32" dur="7.23">accumulating things for the 5.1 roots</text><text start="305.31" dur="7.92">things that were too involved to fit in</text><text start="308.55" dur="6.87">the 5.0 not for release things that were</text><text start="313.23" dur="8.52">truly an enhancement so they would go</text><text start="315.42" dur="12.92">into a new version and look at the</text><text start="321.75" dur="9.66">length of the list it just seemed that</text><text start="328.34" dur="7.11">5.1 was going to take a long time to get</text><text start="331.41" dur="7.41">out you&amp;#39;ll remain recall from previous</text><text start="335.45" dur="5.74">world map updates I&amp;#39;ve said that</text><text start="338.82" dur="6.96">national language versions the word day</text><text start="341.19" dur="7.65">you got one that&amp;#39;s a lot of work all by</text><text start="345.78" dur="5.46">itself forget all the other things that</text><text start="348.84" dur="4.59">we want to do languages are going to</text><text start="351.24" dur="5.67">take a while we have a couple languages</text><text start="353.43" dur="8.43">that are much farther along than most of</text><text start="356.91" dur="8.7">the other ones so we decided that it may</text><text start="361.86" dur="8.31">actually work out where we have a number</text><text start="365.61" dur="9.29">of fixes and minor enhancements ready to</text><text start="370.17" dur="9.06">go along the way to getting 5.1 out and</text><text start="374.9" dur="8.83">it didn&amp;#39;t make sense not to do a 5.0 dot</text><text start="379.23" dur="6.15">5 Elise we&amp;#39;ll see we&amp;#39;re still not</text><text start="383.73" dur="7.17">completely set on it</text><text start="385.38" dur="8.31">but if I&amp;#39;ve got one would be the next</text><text start="390.9" dur="4.68">significant point was and then we&amp;#39;ll</text><text start="393.69" dur="7.32">have a little review cycle after that</text><text start="395.58" dur="10.16">until we get to 5.2 5.2 plans are not</text><text start="401.01" dur="8.01">even on the board yet so we&amp;#39;re not sure</text><text start="405.74" dur="7.39">what they&amp;#39;re planning for 5.1 that would</text><text start="409.02" dur="8.39">be deferred to 5.2 or what new things we</text><text start="413.13" dur="12.27">were put into 5.2 that&amp;#39;s all still</text><text start="417.41" dur="13.74">coming next like this so major points</text><text start="425.4" dur="9.09">for 5.0 dot for again as I mentioned</text><text start="431.15" dur="6.82">installation focus changes so we&amp;#39;re</text><text start="434.49" dur="5.73">going to have a number of enhancements</text><text start="437.97" dur="7.17">that will make installing the operating</text><text start="440.22" dur="11.31">system easier for particularly for</text><text start="445.14" dur="8.88">hardware that is slightly I won&amp;#39;t say we</text><text start="451.53" dur="5.7">use a turn non-standard but may actually</text><text start="454.02" dur="6.57">be lower standard today but unexpected</text><text start="457.23" dur="6.33">for os/2 and unexpected for amendments</text><text start="460.59" dur="10.859">which is the component that allows us to</text><text start="463.56" dur="13.12">boot from DVD or from USB USB stick</text><text start="471.449" dur="7.421">what we call all truth we now have the</text><text start="476.68" dur="5.76">first update to that component since</text><text start="478.87" dur="6.299">2011 that deals with memory</text><text start="482.44" dur="4.59">configurations with the memory holes or</text><text start="485.169" dur="5.071">in different places than we would</text><text start="487.03" dur="5.4">otherwise expect so we were running out</text><text start="490.24" dur="5.61">of available memory for the Installer</text><text start="492.43" dur="5.04">and on those systems we simply couldn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="495.85" dur="4.44">get the operating system during the</text><text start="497.47" dur="4.77">storm now that doesn&amp;#39;t mean that you</text><text start="500.29" dur="5.93">couldn&amp;#39;t install the operating system on</text><text start="502.24" dur="7.5">something else and then copy the the</text><text start="506.22" dur="6.249">installation over to that particular</text><text start="509.74" dur="8.15">machine but that gets to be rather</text><text start="512.469" dur="8.281">tedious difficult to to get accomplished</text><text start="517.89" dur="4.889">on all the lines of a normal</text><text start="520.75" dur="2.029">installation</text><text start="530.31" dur="14.16">it&amp;#39;s going to debut the updater facility</text><text start="538.87" dur="9.75">so no longer have to reformat and</text><text start="544.47" dur="7.6">reinstall all of your software to get</text><text start="548.62" dur="3.96">the latest version of iOS installed in</text><text start="552.07" dur="3.83">the system</text><text start="552.58" dur="8.129">you give out our car OS I&amp;#39;ve got 0</text><text start="555.9" dur="8.2">through 5 god 0.3 you can just burn from</text><text start="560.709" dur="6.541">the installation medium and select</text><text start="564.1" dur="7.05">update select the partition that you</text><text start="567.25" dur="6.11">want to update and they really do the</text><text start="571.15" dur="2.21">rest</text><text start="579.36" dur="5.59">quite thoroughly we&amp;#39;re confident with</text><text start="582.22" dur="4.83">this ready to go so that would be</text><text start="584.95" dur="7.759">company out in 5.0 dr. Guha</text><text start="587.05" dur="10.08">and of course the usual gouging fixes to</text><text start="592.709" dur="8.711">include third-party applications</text><text start="597.13" dur="6.9">Samba climbed up David&amp;#39;s in there and</text><text start="601.42" dur="6.44">the latest version of arkanoid pocket</text><text start="604.03" dur="3.83">manager next slide please</text><text start="609.12" dur="7.15">so here&amp;#39;s the deal with five dot 0.5</text><text start="613.47" dur="5.23">because if I&amp;#39;ve got one is going to take</text><text start="616.27" dur="7.92">significant time and when I say nine to</text><text start="618.7" dur="8.79">12 months that&amp;#39;s a very rough estimate</text><text start="624.19" dur="6.75">because in truth the only order to find</text><text start="627.49" dur="7.64">out one that&amp;#39;s really been started has</text><text start="630.94" dur="8.31">been the regularization part of fact</text><text start="635.13" dur="9.39">none of the other features have really</text><text start="639.25" dur="14.97">been kicked into gear so that&amp;#39;s a very</text><text start="644.52" dur="12.94">worth it&amp;#39;s clear that there will be some</text><text start="654.22" dur="7.04">updates and features that will be ready</text><text start="657.46" dur="6.72">to go before and 5.1 is ready for this</text><text start="661.26" dur="5.71">so instead of holding those off until</text><text start="664.18" dur="7.77">5.1 or making them all available as</text><text start="666.97" dur="8.61">individual updates to be installed we</text><text start="671.95" dur="6.96">were considered dirty a five god 0.5</text><text start="675.58" dur="12.69">release as the final release of the</text><text start="678.91" dur="16.11">final site expect that in six to nine</text><text start="688.27" dur="10.41">months following be supplied by 0.5 0.4</text><text start="695.02" dur="9.69">has taken a little bit longer to get out</text><text start="698.68" dur="11.99">than me had originally hoped so if we</text><text start="704.71" dur="10.1">can get five by 0.5 out sooner then the</text><text start="710.67" dur="7.17">interval between five our 0.35 X 0.4</text><text start="714.81" dur="6.24">that would be a good thing</text><text start="717.84" dur="3.21">next slide</text><text start="721.74" dur="8.29">in the $5 0.5 release we&amp;#39;re going to</text><text start="725.71" dur="8.33">have more enhancements to be the</text><text start="730.03" dur="8.13">Installer and the free boots dur="12.01">potentially UEFI and potentially nvme</text><text start="756.27" dur="10.72">all those three only USB 3 actually</text><text start="761.29" dur="8.49">exists today in in a state where it</text><text start="766.99" dur="8.91">could be considered for inclusion he&amp;#39;ll</text><text start="769.78" dur="8.37">release so UEFI is in the research phase</text><text start="775.9" dur="6.11">and you&amp;#39;re going to get the demo of how</text><text start="778.15" dur="7.79">that boots later on that hasn&amp;#39;t been</text><text start="782.01" dur="8.16">integrated with with any of the Archos</text><text start="785.94" dur="10.84">components yet and and the nvme driver</text><text start="790.17" dur="8.89">has not even been been started but it is</text><text start="796.78" dur="5.19">conceivable there&amp;#39;s somewhere along the</text><text start="799.06" dur="6.18">line if it were ready nobody threw that</text><text start="801.97" dur="7.77">in 5:05 release the same thing for multi</text><text start="805.24" dur="6.93">my Wi-Fi drivers if available we were</text><text start="809.74" dur="11.34">considered those for inclusion in a 5.25</text><text start="812.17" dur="11.7">elites dt audio which has been to this</text><text start="821.08" dur="7.49">point known as dt a digital transfer</text><text start="823.87" dur="10.08">agent is the component which allows</text><text start="828.57" dur="9.49">sound in we know is 2 and now dos</text><text start="833.95" dur="10.43">sessions to the map to meaning are for</text><text start="838.06" dur="10.56">output because 5.1 is going to have</text><text start="844.38" dur="6.59">retro gaming as a major focus we&amp;#39;ve got</text><text start="848.62" dur="8.949">a we&amp;#39;ve got a</text><text start="850.97" dur="10.41">a resurgence in interest in getting we</text><text start="857.569" dur="6.841">know as to endoscopy yams running the</text><text start="861.38" dur="7.56">way they should under our co s including</text><text start="864.41" dur="8.97">full audio support so that component is</text><text start="868.94" dur="8.009">coming along quite nicely if it&amp;#39;s ready</text><text start="873.38" dur="5.459">for inclusion for four or five at one is</text><text start="876.949" dur="3.661">ready for release that would be</text><text start="878.839" dur="7.891">something to consider plenty of the</text><text start="880.61" dur="9.36">final fibers because German and Spanish</text><text start="886.73" dur="5.12">are so much farther along the</text><text start="889.97" dur="6.179">translation</text><text start="891.85" dur="10.179">schedule than other languages that we</text><text start="896.149" dur="16.401">have in the works when we consider when</text><text start="902.029" dur="16.05">we see them as as 5:05 versions those</text><text start="912.55" dur="9.13">languages are at the active time waiting</text><text start="918.079" dur="12.661">for 505 release a game we wouldn&amp;#39;t hold</text><text start="921.68" dur="12.57">up for a Germany weeks but then there&amp;#39;s</text><text start="930.74" dur="5.73">no sense in making wait for 5.1 you know</text><text start="934.25" dur="5.209">that there&amp;#39;s demand for that and we want</text><text start="936.47" dur="5.969">to bring it out as soon as it&amp;#39;s ready</text><text start="939.459" dur="6.791">and of course we would include updated</text><text start="942.439" dur="8.88">mozilla apps funded utilities and we</text><text start="946.25" dur="10.05">have some new games alleviating if qt5</text><text start="951.319" dur="10.171">is ready to go and or or i should say</text><text start="956.3" dur="8.55">but if qt5 is ready to go and if the new</text><text start="961.49" dur="8.039">qt5 based browser is ready to go we</text><text start="964.85" dur="8.159">would consider adding that and that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="969.529" dur="5.821">the general logic behind the 5:05</text><text start="973.009" dur="6.02">release whatever is ready to go at that</text><text start="975.35" dur="5.669">point six to nine months out the 504</text><text start="979.029" dur="3.361">assuming we&amp;#39;ve tested</text><text start="981.019" dur="6.051">rather well</text><text start="982.39" dur="7.22">point removed dual 5:05 of this installation</text><text start="1091.5" dur="9.299">there are as I say there are exceptions</text><text start="1094.129" dur="13.53">for instance in 5.0 time for the update</text><text start="1100.799" dur="16.681">where and the the ISO Drive component</text><text start="1107.659" dur="14.681">which is what USB stick that will be</text><text start="1117.48" dur="13.319">added to a 5.0 release where it was not</text><text start="1122.34" dur="13.86">present before we now include the Juke</text><text start="1130.799" dur="9.391">gigabyte fix for das PDMS as a tea I saw</text><text start="1136.2" dur="9.54">a das DSR that would be added to an</text><text start="1140.19" dur="7.619">existing 5.0 release but other than that</text><text start="1145.74" dur="3.99">most of the things in update or just</text><text start="1147.809" dur="4.771">that updates to what&amp;#39;s already been</text><text start="1149.73" dur="7.159">strong upgrade is a different story</text><text start="1152.58" dur="8.67">so don&amp;#39;t confuse update with upgrade 5.1</text><text start="1156.889" dur="7.42">should include an upgrade facility so</text><text start="1161.25" dur="6.659">the one goes on have to be reformat and</text><text start="1164.309" dur="9.781">reinstall our thorough s 5.1 when</text><text start="1167.909" dur="10.14">there&amp;#39;s dur="8.64">the lately the filesystem layout for our</text><text start="1198.87" dur="8.189">KS and migrate your desktop to an RKO s</text><text start="1204" dur="6.6">desktop keeping all of your dur="7.971">update up sorry we had upgrade and</text><text start="1217.35" dur="7.23">migrate some national language</text><text start="1221.36" dur="9.49">just those things take a tremendous</text><text start="1224.58" dur="12.87">amount of time we&amp;#39;re going to reinvent</text><text start="1230.85" dur="10.73">the hardware types installer right now</text><text start="1237.45" dur="8.67">we have older hardware modern hardware</text><text start="1241.58" dur="7.27">and we have working machines and some of</text><text start="1246.12" dur="8.99">the modern hardware modern hardware safe</text><text start="1248.85" dur="6.26">mode which essentially just disables</text><text start="1256.55" dur="10.29">more gonna revamp those so that they&amp;#39;re</text><text start="1259.29" dur="12.66">more logical and they&amp;#39;re easier to</text><text start="1266.84" dur="9.9">select for we may not know exactly which</text><text start="1271.95" dur="9.24">one to take so that&amp;#39;s that&amp;#39;s part of our</text><text start="1276.74" dur="7.81">free boot enhancement plan there will be</text><text start="1281.19" dur="6.17">some additional install release we have</text><text start="1284.55" dur="6.29">some things now that help us deal with</text><text start="1287.36" dur="6.25">with dirty volumes or I should say</text><text start="1290.84" dur="4.84">volumes that appear to be in need of</text><text start="1293.61" dur="4.98">consistency checking they may or may not</text><text start="1295.68" dur="8.61">be dirty dirty is a state of shut down</text><text start="1298.59" dur="9.06">by the state of longer so what we be</text><text start="1304.29" dur="9.09">able to deal with those more efficiently</text><text start="1307.65" dur="7.74">than we do right now and we want to make</text><text start="1313.38" dur="5.97">some changes to the little cow social</text><text start="1315.39" dur="8.31">system in the operating system to bring</text><text start="1319.35" dur="10.68">it under the 21st century and so that</text><text start="1323.7" dur="12.08">it&amp;#39;s maintainable going forward locales</text><text start="1330.03" dur="12.99">are or interesting interesting creatures</text><text start="1335.78" dur="9.81">concepts and they it doesn&amp;#39;t appear that</text><text system but if</text><text start="1352.94" dur="7.589">you&amp;#39;ve ever used the little cap the</text><text start="1354.98" dur="8.25">country pilots you know what I&amp;#39;m talking</text><text start="1360.529" dur="5.25">about when when when I say that at least</text><text start="1363.23" dur="4.889">we brought into a 21st century there are</text><text start="1365.779" dur="5.88">a number of things that are different</text><text start="1368.119" dur="6.39">now to an IBM originally designed II the</text><text start="1371.659" dur="5.46">facility but all of that is boarded</text><text start="1374.509" dur="6.441">probably need to be redone to scratch</text><text start="1377.119" dur="9.42">and drop things or places there is no</text><text start="1380.95" dur="53.319">nothing the
