dur="7.951">to work what I&amp;#39;m going to do is add a</text><text start="21.029" dur="6.621">couple cards we&amp;#39;re going to add an audio</text><text start="23.88" dur="7.799">card and we&amp;#39;re going to add a PCI card</text><text start="27.65" dur="9.58">now the purpose of this video series is</text><text start="31.679" dur="13.671">put os/2 warp 3.0 connect on this</text><text start="37.23" dur="11.34">machine so os/2 warp had a very select</text><text start="45.35" dur="8.47">number of audio cards sound cards that</text><text start="48.57" dur="9.059">would work with one of them has drivers</text><text start="53.82" dur="15.869">available still and I&amp;#39;ll point that out</text><text start="57.629" dur="17.551">here it is the sonic audio PCI card now</text><text start="69.689" dur="7.411">if you can read the chip there hopefully</text><text start="75.18" dur="5.54">that&amp;#39;s focused enough for you</text><text start="77.1" dur="9.659">it&amp;#39;s an es 1371 chip</text><text start="80.72" dur="9.969">now these ensoniq audio PCI cards were</text><text start="86.759" dur="12.021">made over many years and they included</text><text start="90.689" dur="14.401">different chipsets numbered 1371 1370</text><text start="98.78" dur="11.949">1370 1373 now the os/2 drivers only</text><text start="105.09" dur="8.93">really work with the es 1371 chipset so</text><text start="110.729" dur="6.89">that&amp;#39;s why I had to hunt down this card</text><text start="114.02" dur="8.47">now in order to get my speakers to work</text><text start="117.619" dur="9.701">which are USB powered speakers we&amp;#39;re</text><text start="122.49" dur="8.219">going to put in this via chipset now USB</text><text start="127.32" dur="5.82">is really not used it&amp;#39;s not used by os/2</text><text start="130.709" dur="5.071">at least not</text><text start="133.14" dur="6.09">the original Louis - eventually there</text><text start="135.78" dur="6.12">were USB drivers for LS - but it didn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="139.23" dur="8.19">start out that way so we&amp;#39;re gonna put</text><text start="141.9" dur="9.18">the PCI card the USB card in I wasn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="147.42" dur="5.34">crazy about the voyage upset for the USB</text><text start="151.08" dur="4.83">but this is all I had at the moment</text><text start="152.76" dur="5.49">since I&amp;#39;m only using it for power to a</text><text start="155.91" dur="9.57">USB port hopefully this will work just</text><text start="158.25" dur="15.9">fine it&amp;#39;s already cleared the slot blank</text><text start="165.48" dur="18.69">to the pci port on this side we&amp;#39;ll get</text><text start="174.15" dur="12.44">that in IBM used slotted screws I&amp;#39;m not</text><text start="184.17" dur="6.09">crazy about it but they&amp;#39;re all slotted</text><text start="186.59" dur="12.6">throughout the system they&amp;#39;re a lot</text><text start="190.26" dur="8.93">harder to manage for me</text><text start="203.54" dur="5.399">you can see I&amp;#39;m having trouble already</text><text start="223.769" dur="4.92">finding the damn squirrel hole</text><text start="230.67" dur="7.079">this is embarrassing isn&amp;#39;t it would be</text><text start="234.909" dur="2.84">if it were you</text><text start="242.98" dur="9.3">let&amp;#39;s start this with my fingers yeah</text><text start="262.72" dur="6.61">okay that&amp;#39;s unsecured</text><text start="265.72" dur="6.759">now the other PCI slot is on the other</text><text start="269.33" dur="6.209">side of this riser board to get to that</text><text start="272.479" dur="6.631">to get to install anything there is a</text><text start="275.539" dur="6.421">plate holding the slop like sin on the</text><text start="279.11" dur="5.54">side so I didn&amp;#39;t have to remove this</text><text start="281.96" dur="2.69">screw here</text><text start="292.29" dur="9.99">once that plate is loose all of the slaw</text><text start="297.12" dur="8.43">planks are loose so we&amp;#39;re going to pull</text><text start="302.28" dur="6.21">one out hopefully without disturbing the</text><text start="305.55" dur="9.27">other two underneath I&amp;#39;m going to grab</text><text start="308.49" dur="14.88">our audio card here and we&amp;#39;re going to</text><text start="314.82" dur="10.44">stick it in let&amp;#39;s clear some space so</text><text start="323.37" dur="11.76">the first one or is that second one it&amp;#39;s</text><text start="325.26" dur="15.2">going to have to go into some space out</text><text start="335.13" dur="5.33">of the way it is the first one okay it</text><text start="344.6" dur="13.38">there we go so that is in now the trick</text><text start="353.16" dur="4.82">is to get this plate back in place</text><text start="359.84" dur="3">without</text><text start="370.36" dur="5.959">and that&amp;#39;s disturbing the slot blanks</text><text start="373" dur="3.319">lower down</text><text start="383.12" dur="2.84">mm-hmm</text><text start="394.91" dur="5.84">that is a weird fit I don&amp;#39;t like that</text><text start="406.03" dur="4.68">any better here</text><text start="418.129" dur="5.36">this is not going as well as it should</text><text start="431.62" dur="11.6">see if I can get a better angle on it</text><text start="433.72" dur="9.5">this way there we go</text><text start="448.479" dur="6.78">it&amp;#39;s not perfect but it&amp;#39;s gonna have to</text><text start="451.96" dur="8.609">do the problem I don&amp;#39;t know if it&amp;#39;s some</text><text start="455.259" dur="13.291">visible is there&amp;#39;s not enough of a gap</text><text start="460.569" dur="12.921">in between the PCI board and the the the</text><text start="468.55" dur="12.72">backing plate for the little lip on this</text><text start="473.49" dur="10.5">to fully seat well but I can&amp;#39;t get it in</text><text start="481.27" dur="2.72">close enough</text><text start="489.44" dur="7.04">get the screw in here</text><text start="509.83" dur="5.449">now the perfect fit but it certainly</text><text start="511.99" dur="9.469">should hold everything in place and</text><text start="515.279" dur="9.671">that&amp;#39;s the point of the system they have</text><text start="521.459" dur="6.94">iBM has here with this case it&amp;#39;s not</text><text start="524.95" dur="7.23">great it could be a lot it could be</text><text start="528.399" dur="7.651">engineered a little better than this but</text><text start="532.18" dur="5.909">that&amp;#39;s what we have to work with so they</text><text start="536.05" dur="5.729">have the audio card in place we have the</text><text start="538.089" dur="7.111">USB card in place everything else pretty</text><text start="541.779" dur="39.091">much staying the same so let&amp;#39;s get the</text><text start="545.2" dur="40.85">cover back on this that feels feels good</text><text start="580.87" dur="5.18">all around okay that should do it</text><text start="593.18" dur="6.029">okay you got a couple extra slop I</text><text start="638.73" dur="7.41">don&amp;#39;t think they put os/2 drivers on the</text><text start="643.019" dur="10.891">disk but we&amp;#39;ll see I have the drivers</text><text start="646.14" dur="10.05">downloaded okay I&amp;#39;m going to cut the</text><text start="653.91" dur="4.95">video right here and what we&amp;#39;ll do is</text><text start="656.19" partition and we&amp;#39;re gonna</text><text start="919.089" dur="9.87">choose the hpfs filesystem for</text><text start="923.79" dur="8.26">performance reasons hpfs was a file</text><text start="928.959" dur="8.07">system developed by Microsoft employees</text><text start="932.05" dur="9.18">for os/2 back when os/2 was a joint</text><text start="937.029" dur="10.68">project between Microsoft and IBM back</text><text start="941.23" dur="10.52">in 1988 or 89 it was first available</text><text start="947.709" dur="7.591">first made available I believe with os/2</text><text start="951.75" dur="8.23">1.2 it could have been 1.1 but I think</text><text start="955.3" dur="5.339">it was 1.2 now it&amp;#39;s one point I&amp;#39;d have</text><text start="959.98" dur="6.65">to look that up</text><text start="960.639" dur="5.991">I now I&amp;#39;m tempted to say 1.1 os/2 1.1</text><text start="970.04" dur="9.58">it allowed greater volumes greater size</text><text start="977.1" dur="7.37">filings that broke the eight-point-three</text><text start="979.62" dur="12.24">das barrier for filenames allowing 256</text><text start="984.47" dur="12.67">255 character file names and what else</text><text start="991.86" dur="8.34">did it have it had built-in features</text><text start="997.14" dur="8.04">that fought fragmentation of placed</text><text start="1000.2" dur="7.71">files close together and what else did</text><text start="1005.18" dur="7.02">it do did a number of other things and</text><text start="1007.91" dur="7.739">allow for extended attributes so files</text><text start="1012.2" dur="6.449">could have metadata for the first time</text><text start="1015.649" dur="7.621">and the operating system could use that</text><text start="1018.649" dur="9.571">metadata you know however the developers</text><text start="1023.27" dur="6.72">felt it was needed to be used and users</text><text start="1028.22" dur="8.04">could use that metadata you could place</text><text start="1029.99" dur="11.699">o descriptions of files in the extended</text><text start="1036.26" dur="9.66">attributes you could it held mime type</text><text start="1041.689" dur="8.301">data I believe so applications knew what</text><text start="1045.92" dur="4.07">files belong to what applications</text><text start="1053.76" dur="3.96">so this part the first part of the</text><text start="1056.049" dur="5.071">install goes pretty quickly</text><text start="1057.72" dur="7.2">really just copying the base of the</text><text start="1061.12" dur="3.8">operating system onto the hard drive</text><text start="1071.51" dur="8.4">after this we will reboot and there are</text><text start="1076.34" dur="7.95">at least two other portions of the</text><text start="1079.91" dur="7.97">installation the first being most of the</text><text start="1084.29" dur="6.24">graphical part of the operating system</text><text start="1087.88" dur="7.38">the remainder of the operating system</text><text start="1090.53" dur="10.88">that is and the networking components</text><text start="1095.26" dur="8.89">now what it does recognize this 3m is a</text><text start="1101.41" dur="4.63">Ethernet card but we&amp;#39;re not going to be</text><text start="1104.15" dur="5.39">using it at least not yet not for a</text><text start="1106.04" dur="9.8">little while because os/2 back in</text><text start="1109.54" dur="10.509">1994-95 did not ship with a DHCP client</text><text start="1115.84" dur="8.2">or at least not one that networks with</text><text start="1120.049" dur="6.361">modern routers I don&amp;#39;t believe it</text><text start="1124.04" dur="5.46">actually had a DHCP client when it</text><text start="1126.41" dur="5.97">shipped that was made available a little</text><text start="1129.5" dur="5.52">later through fix packs which we&amp;#39;ll get</text><text start="1132.38" dur="6.44">into eventually right now we&amp;#39;re just</text><text start="1135.02" dur="6.779">going to do the installation of os/2 and</text><text start="1138.82" dur="8.14">leave it at that and then the next video</text><text start="1141.799" dur="7.651">we&amp;#39;ll be going into configuring LS to</text><text start="1146.96" dur="6.959">getting the audio drivers and the video</text><text start="1149.45" dur="6.33">drivers loaded applying fix packs what</text><text start="1153.919" dur="5.13">it took day-to-day you know day-to-day</text><text start="1155.78" dur="7.95">maintenance and running about as to</text><text start="1159.049" dur="9.331">which if you did this in the past and</text><text start="1163.73" dur="9.06">the 90s when it was current you got a</text><text start="1168.38" dur="10.71">lot more experience that readied readied</text><text start="1172.79" dur="9.57">me for the world of Linux finding you</text><text start="1179.09" dur="6.39">know being conscious of Hardware limited</text><text start="1182.36" dur="6.809">driver support and a hard work finding</text><text start="1185.48" dur="8.1">hardware that works with the operating</text><text start="1189.169" dur="7.231">system is sure that Windows users and</text><text start="1193.58" dur="4.57">especially Mac users don&amp;#39;t really have</text><text start="1196.4" dur="7.54">to deal with Mac users don&amp;#39;t deal with</text><text start="1198.15" dur="10.35">at all but Windows users do have to find</text><text start="1203.94" dur="6.57">drivers if they&amp;#39;re not if they didn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="1208.5" dur="4.2">buy the hardware new if you buy hardware</text><text start="1210.51" dur="5.03">new it comes with Windows drivers</text><text start="1212.7" dur="7.68">there&amp;#39;s no reason to go hunting for them</text><text start="1215.54" dur="7.95">ok so let&amp;#39;s remove the diskette and</text><text start="1220.38" dur="3.11">press Enter</text><text start="1227.36" dur="8.399">we could put these up out of the way a</text><text start="1229.369" dur="10.62">little bit and we should start booting</text><text start="1235.759" dur="10.41">into well the rest of us choose</text><text start="1239.989" dur="10.76">installation now this monitor isn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="1246.169" dur="7.531">really appropriate to the time os/2 warp</text><text start="1250.749" dur="7.601">one it&amp;#39;s an LCD and two it&amp;#39;s a wide</text><text start="1253.7" dur="6.39">screen neither one that were well LCDs</text><text start="1258.35" dur="3.99">might have been on the market back then</text><text start="1260.09" dur="6.779">but they were probably about ten grand</text><text start="1262.34" dur="6.449">I think LCD screens were actually on the</text><text start="1266.869" dur="8.16">market back then but they were so I and</text><text start="1268.789" dur="9.5">that you didn&amp;#39;t see them as a normal</text><text start="1275.029" dur="3.26">person he did to see them</text><text start="1286.28" dur="7.14">okay we&amp;#39;re getting into our Senate</text><text start="1290.42" dur="5.1">program you know Nicole now it did</text><text start="1293.42" dur="5.25">detect or at least that gave us the</text><text start="1295.52" dur="6.48">brand of the logic the display adapter</text><text start="1298.67" dur="8.25">that&amp;#39;s fine SVGA is what we want it to</text><text start="1302" dur="14.55">be other cd-rom support I believe that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="1306.92" dur="15.77">fine let&amp;#39;s see what our choices are so</text><text start="1316.55" dur="9.21">we&amp;#39;ll just go with non-listed IDE cd-rom</text><text start="1322.69" dur="10">now I don&amp;#39;t believe we&amp;#39;re going to find</text><text start="1325.76" dur="11.88">the right audio driver had a very</text><text start="1332.69" dur="8.88">limited number of audio drivers built in</text><text start="1337.64" dur="6.96">we&amp;#39;ll do that after installation so</text><text start="1341.57" dur="10.14">let&amp;#39;s say okay here we&amp;#39;re not going to</text><text start="1344.6" dur="10.22">install a printer super VGA is fine</text><text start="1351.71" dur="3.11">that&amp;#39;s what we want</text><text start="1363.05" dur="8">okay we&amp;#39;re going to include everything</text><text start="1366.91" dur="6.76">now everything is fonts documentation</text><text start="1371.05" dur="5.61">system utilities and we can go in and</text><text start="1373.67" dur="2.99">see more if we want</text><text start="1386.09" dur="7.59">so we want all of these all of this is</text><text start="1389.06" dur="8.82">optional the utilities here quite a</text><text start="1393.68" dur="5.34">quite a few of them actually we</text><text start="1397.88" dur="5.46">certainly don&amp;#39;t want to be able to</text><text start="1399.02" dur="6.92">manage partitions view pictures now</text><text start="1403.34" dur="5.34">their picture view is very limited</text><text start="1405.94" dur="6.63">create utility discs of course we&amp;#39;ll</text><text start="1408.68" dur="8.25">want to do that and be able to of course</text><text start="1412.57" dur="8.8">tools and games now comes with solitaire</text><text start="1416.93" dur="7.65">chess and mahjong but we also want an</text><text start="1421.37" dur="7.7">enhanced editor which is a editor a text</text><text start="1424.58" dur="4.49">editor more geared towards programmers</text><text start="1429.52" dur="7.3">os/2 das support we certainly want that</text><text start="1433.36" dur="9.57">wind support now this is the blue spine</text><text start="1436.82" dur="9.3">edition so it does include Windows 3.1</text><text start="1442.93" dur="7.87">capability and I&amp;#39;ll built in so we want</text><text start="1446.12" dur="6.72">all the hat multimedia we&amp;#39;re going to</text><text start="1450.8" dur="6.12">get the multimedia working so we want to</text><text start="1452.84" dur="8.34">include it and let&amp;#39;s go ahead and</text><text start="1456.92" dur="6.6">install now here&amp;#39;s the step we want to</text><text start="1461.18" dur="4.41">add existing programs to our desktop if</text><text start="1463.52" dur="4.86">we don&amp;#39;t do this we&amp;#39;re not going to get</text><text start="1465.59" dur="5.58">icons created for us automatically on</text><text start="1468.38" dur="4.85">our desktop so let&amp;#39;s go ahead and do</text><text start="1471.17" dur="2.06">that</text><text start="1478.25" dur="5.61">and we do want to install networking</text><text start="1481.33" dur="7.69">eventually we might get there but we&amp;#39;ll</text><text start="1483.86" dur="7.92">see but I&amp;#39;ll install it anyway now we</text><text start="1489.02" dur="6.019">only really need the tcp/ip we don&amp;#39;t</text><text start="1491.78" dur="3.259">need that we&amp;#39;re a client</text><text start="1503.429" dur="9.35">okay it has discovered our Ethernet card</text><text start="1507.57" dur="5.209">which is good so let&amp;#39;s go into settings</text><text start="1515.45" dur="10.479">okay all we really had to do was say yes</text><text start="1518.129" dur="10.951">they&amp;#39;re tcp/ip let&amp;#39;s say IP address I&amp;#39;m</text><text start="1525.929" dur="5.511">just going to create one on my local</text><text start="1529.08" dur="2.36">network</text><text start="1538.53" dur="5.93">pretty high up see if that works I don&amp;#39;t</text><text start="1541.68" dur="2.78">think it will</text><text start="1551.969" dur="13.44">Hossein but I&amp;#39;ll just call this warp and</text><text start="1559.699" dur="8.68">install we can always change those</text><text start="1565.409" dur="4.8">settings later if we happen to get the</text><text start="1568.379" dur="5.72">network really working but that should</text><text start="1570.209" dur="3.89">just get us enough to get us started</text><text start="1584.15" dur="11.37">because we part of the part of the chore</text><text start="1590.78" dur="7.47">of maintaining running OS - back in the</text><text start="1595.52" dur="8.31">day and applies any time you run it but</text><text start="1598.25" dur="9.35">is applying fix packs and it&amp;#39;s a process</text><text start="1603.83" dur="6.75">and it can be done in a number of ways</text><text start="1607.6" dur="6.27">the easiest ways if your network card</text><text start="1610.58" dur="7.44">was supported out of the box and</text><text start="1613.87" dur="7.33">configured properly and os/2 is still</text><text start="1618.02" dur="5.25">supported product you could do it online</text><text start="1621.2" dur="5.43">you could download the updates online</text><text start="1623.27" dur="6.2">over the network the internet and it</text><text start="1626.63" dur="8.22">work it should&amp;#39;ve worked I never had</text><text start="1629.47" dur="9.31">broadband in the 90s I never had a</text><text start="1634.85" dur="6.78">working network card under os/2 I never</text><text start="1638.78" dur="7.59">needed it because I had to use dial-up</text><text start="1641.63" dur="5.67">and I was to work perfectly fine with my</text><text start="1646.37" dur="3.99">external modem</text><text start="1647.3" dur="6.99">I kept external modems because the wind</text><text start="1650.36" dur="6">modems the internal ones the wind modems</text><text start="1654.29" dur="6.54">were impossible to get to work in os/2</text><text start="1656.36" dur="7.08">and internal modems were tricky because</text><text start="1660.83" dur="4.77">of driver issues external modems that</text><text start="1663.44" dur="4.14">connected to a serial port they just</text><text start="1665.6" dur="4.5">worked it could be any brand didn&amp;#39;t</text><text start="1667.58" dur="6.84">matter so I always had an external modem</text><text start="1670.1" dur="6.09">back in the 90s because the modem was</text><text start="1674.42" dur="5.46">totally Hardware a self-contained</text><text start="1676.19" dur="6">hardware and the serial port you know</text><text start="1679.88" dur="7.08">every operating system could work a</text><text start="1682.19" dur="6.45">serial port modem no problem no problem</text><text start="1686.96" dur="4.68">getting on line with Linux back in the</text><text start="1688.64" dur="5.58">day in the late 90s with a serial modem</text><text start="1691.64" dur="5.13">no problem with os/2 no problem would be</text><text start="1694.22" dur="9.33">OS they all just worked just fine with</text><text start="1696.77" dur="9.72">that external modem but moments are</text><text start="1703.55" dur="6.75">going with this oh yeah fixed back</text><text start="1706.49" dur="4.83">installations fix packs were distributed</text><text start="1710.3" dur="5.28">by is</text><text start="1711.32" dur="8.25">IBM in a couple of different formats one</text><text start="1715.58" dur="6.06">was disc images a serious you know a</text><text start="1719.57" dur="5.34">collection of disk images which corrupt</text><text start="1741.05" dur="4.89">the the discs and everything worked</text><text start="1743" dur="5.01">perfectly that was one way doing it you</text><text start="1745.94" dur="5.97">always had to have some floppies you</text><text start="1748.01" dur="7.47">know at least 10 to 17 floppy flying</text><text start="1751.91" dur="6.27">around to do that because that&amp;#39;s how</text><text start="1755.48" dur="5.21">many floppies it took the other way was</text><text start="1758.18" dur="5.25">download all the floppy disk images</text><text start="1760.69" dur="8.8">extract them into a folder on your hard</text><text start="1763.43" dur="7.74">drive and run the setup program right</text><text start="1769.49" dur="3.42">from the hard drive now that was a lot</text><text start="1771.17" dur="5.25">easier a lot quicker he didn&amp;#39;t need all</text><text start="1772.91" dur="5.67">that this a lot more reliable and that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="1776.42" dur="4.71">the way we&amp;#39;re going to be I&amp;#39;m going to</text><text start="1778.58" dur="7.94">be demonstrating how to apply fix packs</text><text start="1781.13" dur="9.21">to os/2 it&amp;#39;s that method I have all the</text><text start="1786.52" dur="6.94">disk image files archived I haven&amp;#39;t</text><text start="1790.34" dur="5.67">mount a CD ROM easy enough to pop it</text><text start="1793.46" dur="5.82">into the machine copy the files to the</text><text start="1796.01" dur="7.8">hard drive extract them go about our</text><text start="1799.28" dur="8.88">business supply the fix packs so that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="1803.81" dur="6.42">what that&amp;#39;s a method I&amp;#39;ll be using the</text><text start="1808.16" dur="5.25">other method was to download instead of</text><text start="1810.23" dur="5.99">disk images download zip files extract</text><text start="1813.41" dur="5.57">the zip files and basically run the</text><text start="1816.22" dur="6.04">installation program from the zip files</text><text start="1818.98" dur="6.19">the extracted zip files now to me that&amp;#39;s</text><text start="1822.26" dur="8.13">no different than extracting disk images</text><text start="1825.17" dur="8.51">so I&amp;#39;ve only our kind of disk image disk</text><text start="1830.39" dur="6.09">images of the fix packs that I need</text><text start="1833.68" dur="5.2">because once you extract them in the</text><text start="1836.48" dur="5.19">process is pretty much the same use</text><text start="1838.88" dur="3.69">slightly different software the benefit</text><text start="1841.67" dur="5.82">of the</text><text start="1842.57" dur="6.839">zip files over the disk images is well I</text><text start="1847.49" dur="3.96">don&amp;#39;t know if any benefit really does</text><text start="1849.409" dur="4.441">the disk image files are more flexible</text><text start="1851.45" dur="6.8">because if you wanted to write them too</text><text start="1853.85" dur="4.4">floppy you could but you didn&amp;#39;t have to</text><text start="1860.23" dur="7.39">so that&amp;#39;s what we&amp;#39;ll be doing later on</text><text start="1863.539" dur="6.12">in the process here as I said this first</text><text start="1867.62" dur="8.899">video is really just to look at the</text><text start="1869.659" dur="10.951">installation of OS to the hardware and</text><text start="1876.519" dur="11.801">the next video will be using those two</text><text start="1880.61" dur="9.89">maintaining it now os/2 for a little bit</text><text start="1888.32" dur="10.199">of history for those who don&amp;#39;t know</text><text start="1890.5" dur="12.25">started development back in 1985 87</text><text start="1898.519" dur="6.931">right around there I know was well that</text><text start="1902.75" dur="5.879">have been announced in 87 but Microsoft</text><text start="1905.45" dur="6.449">and IBM might have been working on it</text><text start="1908.629" dur="7.68">before then I don&amp;#39;t really know but by</text><text start="1911.899" dur="9.421">87 IBM and Microsoft released I was to</text><text start="1916.309" dur="7.681">1.0 didn&amp;#39;t include a GUI it was a just a</text><text start="1921.32" dur="5.76">command line operating system but it was</text><text start="1923.99" dur="7.46">a bit more robust quite a bit more than</text><text start="1927.08" dur="9.199">robust in dose required a more resources</text><text start="1931.45" dur="7.9">to run could multitask OS to programs</text><text start="1936.279" dur="6.191">couldn&amp;#39;t no us multitask das programs</text><text start="1939.35" dur="8.459">could run one das program at a time back</text><text start="1942.47" dur="8.97">then os/2 1.1 came out added I believe</text><text start="1947.809" dur="5.96">the hpfs file system for larger hard to</text><text start="1951.44" dur="7.05">support better more efficient hard disk</text><text start="1953.769" dur="7.801">space management more filename options</text><text start="1958.49" dur="7.649">other features like that</text><text start="1961.57" dur="8.229">it also included os/2 presentation</text><text start="1966.139" dur="6.03">manager which maybe one day I&amp;#39;ll be able</text><text start="1969.799" dur="5.49">to get a will do an installation of</text><text start="1972.169" dur="5.1">Owens 21.3 just to get a look at</text><text start="1975.289" dur="6.39">presentation manager which followed very</text><text start="1977.269" dur="5.971">closely the Windows 3 look or the</text><text start="1981.679" dur="4.38">windows even the window it might have</text><text start="1983.24" dur="6.179">even been windows to look and then</text><text start="1986.059" dur="5.761">presentation manager under os/2 one</text><text start="1989.419" dur="11.37">point three followed the Windows three</text><text start="1991.82" dur="10.77">look so very similar looking structure</text><text start="2000.789" dur="4.681">in internally there were quite different</text><text start="2002.59" dur="12.059">of course but on the on the surface they</text><text start="2005.47" dur="12.36">look similar now allows to the</text><text start="2014.649" dur="6.961">installation now we&amp;#39;re doing 3.0 here</text><text start="2017.83" dur="10.25">which remains my favorite version of OS</text><text start="2021.61" dur="11.25">still I&amp;#39;ve tried os/2 2.0 about 2.1</text><text start="2028.08" dur="9.28">excuse me to be more accurate I&amp;#39;ve used</text><text start="2032.86" dur="7.11">os/2 warp 4.0 and three was my his</text><text start="2037.36" dur="6.029">remains my favorite floor was nice</text><text dur="11.21">was available on floppies I think warp</text><text start="2104.79" dur="11.52">Connect was cd-rom released only but the</text><text start="2112.67" dur="6.52">rigid the regular version of warp just</text><text start="2116.31" dur="5.64">os/2 warp 3.0 was definitely available</text><text start="2119.19" dur="6.71">on floppies first that&amp;#39;s how I had to</text><text start="2121.95" dur="3.95">install it when I first bought it</text><text start="2130.19" dur="5.19">now eventually I bought cd-rom of warp 3</text><text start="2134.27" dur="4.069">connectors</text><text start="2135.38" dur="7.02">I believe the disk of installing off of</text><text start="2138.339" dur="6.611">is well I have several a couple copies</text><text start="2142.4" dur="8.179">well as to warp over the years have</text><text start="2144.95" dur="8.849">collected well restart automatically ok</text><text start="2150.579" dur="6.551">but I believe this particular disk is</text><text start="2153.799" dur="9.99">one of my originals that I bought back</text><text start="2157.13" dur="9.39">in 1995 now I have an unopened copy of</text><text start="2163.789" dur="9.471">warp 3 Kinect Blu spy and I have an open</text><text start="2166.52" dur="10.849">copy of warp 3 Kinect red spine and</text><text start="2173.26" dur="8.2">those are purchased after the fact as</text><text start="2177.369" dur="8.141">collector collectible items just to have</text><text start="2181.46" dur="10.02">a nice reference um you know pristine</text><text start="2185.51" dur="9.39">reference copy I don&amp;#39;t know we can see</text><text start="2191.48" dur="9.139">the driver is loaded for the Ethernet</text><text start="2194.9" dur="8.159">card of course it&amp;#39;s not going to find</text><text start="2200.619" dur="4.391">it&amp;#39;s not going to be able to make an</text><text start="2203.059" dur="4.431">Ethernet connection because there&amp;#39;s no</text><text start="2205.01" dur="2.48">cable</text><text start="2211.87" dur="5.36">but elusive drivers right recognize the</text><text start="2214.99" dur="2.24">card</text><text start="2223.36" dur="3.86">yeah there&amp;#39;s one error</text><text start="2231.13" dur="7.65">as I said eventually we may be able to</text><text start="2233.71" dur="7.95">get this os/2 warp online I&amp;#39;m not</text><text
