that is you could go to the</text><text start="29.519" dur="4.481">command line you could get root</text><text start="31.359" dur="2.641">privileges</text><text start="34.64" dur="4.16">you could then pkj update which will</text><text start="37.36" dur="3.76">bring in the latest</text><text start="38.8" dur="2.32">list</text><text start="43.04" dur="4.64">and then search for the software</text><text start="45.12" dur="3.599">using pkg search</text><text start="47.68" dur="3.199">in this case we&amp;#39;re going to look for</text><text start="48.719" dur="4.32">inkscape</text><text start="50.879" dur="4.641">and there it is</text><text start="53.039" dur="6.801">and then finally pkg</text><text start="55.52" dur="4.32">install and then in this case inkscape</text><text start="60.16" dur="3.999">you will then get a lot of text telling</text><text start="62.239" dur="3.681">you the dependencies it needs to install</text><text start="64.159" dur="4.64">and if you want to get rid of the</text><text start="65.92" dur="5.12">software it&amp;#39;s bkg delete the name of the</text><text start="68.799" dur="4.721">software you want to delete funny enough</text><text start="71.04" dur="4.24">will because psd being a visual</text><text start="73.52" dur="2.959">operating system we&amp;#39;re going to try and</text><text start="75.28" dur="3.04">find a nice</text><text start="76.479" dur="5.201">software package manager</text><text start="78.32" dur="5.52">via the software station which will call</text><text start="81.68" dur="4.16">up octopkg</text><text start="83.84" dur="4.4">which is a graphical front end for the</text><text start="85.84" dur="4.8">text mod um way of doing it that we&amp;#39;ve</text><text start="88.24" dur="2.4">just seen</text><text start="90.72" dur="5.68">and onstart it automatically grabs the</text><text start="93.6" dur="4.64">latest list the boxes with a ticking are</text><text start="96.4" dur="3.52">software that&amp;#39;s already installed and</text><text start="98.24" dur="3.68">there&amp;#39;s a large list to choose from and</text><text start="99.92" dur="3.76">uh it would take quite a while to search</text><text start="101.92" dur="4.64">down each individual one for the</text><text start="103.68" dur="2.88">software that you need</text><text start="107.6" dur="4.479">luckily at the top there is a search</text><text start="110.159" dur="3.28">function where you can type in in this</text><text start="112.079" dur="3.281">case we&amp;#39;re going to look for inkscape</text><text start="113.439" dur="3.68">again and there it is so it basically</text><text start="115.36" dur="3.2">just mimics what we did on the command</text><text start="117.119" dur="2.96">line but with a more graphical</text><text start="118.56" dur="4.64">representation</text><text start="120.079" dur="6.72">so click in the tick box</text><text start="123.2" dur="4.96">we&amp;#39;ll activate the cancel or apply</text><text start="126.799" dur="3.041">button buttons you can see and if you&amp;#39;re</text><text start="128.16" dur="3.52">happy within the installation that you</text><text start="129.84" dur="3.759">want to do click apply and you will be</text><text start="131.68" dur="3.919">presented with this again it&amp;#39;s another</text><text start="133.599" dur="3.441">list of dependencies but in a little</text><text start="135.599" dur="3.761">separate little box that pops up in the</text><text start="137.04" dur="2.32">middle</text><text start="140.48" dur="3.92">so confirm and it will set the process</text><text start="142.72" dur="3.68">off there&amp;#39;s a little status bar at the</text><text start="144.4" dur="4.8">bottom as you can see we have speeded up</text><text start="146.4" dur="4.64">a little bit and when it reaches the end</text><text start="149.2" dur="5.36">then we should be fully installed and</text><text start="151.04" dur="4.96">there it is inkscape is now installed</text><text start="154.56" dur="4.399">and you can check anyway just go to</text><text start="156" dur="5.28">graphics and there&amp;#39;s inscape very nice</text><text start="158.959" dur="2.321">indeed</text><text start="161.36" dur="6.76">again if we go to software station</text><text in that it should tell you if there</text><text start="226.879" dur="3.44">are any updates in this case there&amp;#39;s</text><text start="228.239" dur="4.321">some updates to some packages some 30</text><text start="230.319" dur="4.721">updates and two packages that need to be</text><text start="232.56" dur="5.039">reinstalled we change dependencies and</text><text start="235.04" dur="4.8">change libraries etc and there&amp;#39;s the</text><text start="237.599" dur="4.64">reinstall packages if there were any</text><text start="239.84" dur="4.24">system ones to be installed it will be</text><text start="242.239" dur="4.56">listed underneath and here we have a</text><text start="244.08" dur="3.84">create boot environment backup so when</text><text start="246.799" dur="3.601">that&amp;#39;s ticked</text><text start="247.92" dur="4.48">it will make a snapshot or a copy of a</text><text start="250.4" dur="4.8">working environment as it is now and</text><text start="252.4" dur="4.72">then if any updates don&amp;#39;t work properly</text><text start="255.2" dur="4.48">you can roll back to before you</text><text start="257.12" dur="4.079">installed which is really nice and then</text><text start="259.68" dur="5.079">that&amp;#39;s it for updating it really</text><text start="261.199" dur="3.56">couldn&amp;#39;t be any easier</text><text start="266.7" start="288.32" dur="6.319">pseudo s or sudo as it is or to us</text><text start="292.639" dur="4.481">and just to gain some root privileges</text><text start="294.639" dur="4.56">i&amp;#39;m just going to type in add user</text><text start="297.12" dur="3.44">and this will ask for a username now</text><text start="299.199" dur="3.041">this is not your full name this is</text><text start="300.56" dur="2.96">username you want to go by so you could</text><text start="302.24" dur="3.28">call yourself</text><text start="303.52" dur="4.239">bob if you wish but in this case
