think and</text><text start="142.29" dur="5.25">will do next on that will give it a</text><text start="144.599" dur="9.03">couple of gig and memory just to be kind</text><text start="147.54" dur="7.62">and will create a virtual disk which</text><text start="153.629" dur="3.39">will be bigger than that I think so I</text><text start="155.16" dur="7.079">can play around with it a bit will be fine for</text><text start="212.91" dur="9.06">now we're testing it'll do and if we</text><text start="217.47" dur="9.03">just click on through and press ENTER to</text><text remarkably</text><text start="276.87" dur="4.979">Windows like again it all the scales and</text><text start="279.72" dur="4.949">operators like Windows machine which is</text><text start="281.849" these are</text><text start="289.259" dur="3.991">the things again up this is very</text><text start="290.729" dur="4.981">familiar for Windows system right</text><text start="293.25" dur="5.16">windows looking calculator up there so</text><text start="295.71" dur="5.13">we act OS a calculator apparently what</text><text start="298.41" dur="5.129">else have we got here we've got um games</text><text start="300.84" dur="4.169">of solitaire which looks some or all the</text><text start="303.539" dur="3.181">windows like it comes from reactor West</text><text start="305.009" dur="4.051">logo on the back but basically this is a</text><text start="306.72" dur="2.699">clearly for solitaire we all know and</text><text start="309.06" dur="1.8">love</text><text start="309.419" dur="4.021">quit twist walk quit from that one can</text><text start="310.86" dur="5.01">stuck in that today and we've also got</text><text start="313.44" dur="4.5">here various accessories which are very</text><text start="315.87" dur="4.68">very familiar to as paint is here and</text><text start="317.94" dur="5.099">also we've gotta I think down here and</text><text start="320.55" dur="5.22">we've got WordPad as well so this is a</text><text start="323.039" dur="4.35">very Windows type experience isn't it if</text><text start="325.77" dur="3.329">you like Windows XP you like Windows 7</text><text start="327.389" dur="5.25">you think you'll like what they're doing</text><text start="329.099" dur="4.951">with a react OS however in addition to</text><text start="332.639" dur="2.851">having this standard Windows stuff</text><text start="334.05" dur="4.2">they've also got to and here what they</text><text start="335.49" dur="4.53">call the Applications Manager if we open</text><text start="338.25" dur="4.32">this thing up this basically allows us</text><text start="340.02" dur="5.22">to install applications a bit like apps</text><text start="342.57" dur="3.719">in a more modern operating system so you</text><text start="345.24" dur="3.03">can see we've got lots different</text><text start="346.289" dur="4.35">categories and there's lots of things</text><text start="348.27" dur="3.6">available in these categories even lots</text><text start="350.639" dur="4.02">of games and things I luckily looked</text><text start="351.87" dur="5.099">down down there these are largely a open</text><text start="354.659" dur="3.721">source thing you can install but that's</text><text start="356.969" dur="4.32">still pretty handy to have it like this</text><text start="358.38" dur="4.469">but there isn't actually a web browser</text><text start="361.289" dur="3.18">installed by default so let's try</text><text start="362.849" dur="3.66">install the most recent web browser</text><text start="364.469" dur="6.601">we've got here which is Mozilla Firefox</text><text start="366.509" dur="6.951">48 we quickly in style icon see what</text><text start="371.07" dur="2.39">happens</text><text start="375.449" dur="4.05">they're wearing a pretty standard</text><text start="377.18" dur="5.229">Firefox install looks very much like</text><text start="379.499" dur="7.76">women story Windows doesn't it it will</text><text start="382.409" dur="7.171">make it hot default launch Firefox now</text><text start="387.259" dur="3.731">we went to what things means that</text><text start="389.58" dur="3">explore because I don't think it's here</text><text start="390.99" dur="8.639">Firefox doesn't know quite where it's</text><text start="392.58" dur="10.519">been installed does it and can't find</text><text start="399.629" dur="8.16">that server but never mind</text><text start="403.099" dur="6.671">it's got there this seems to be working</text><text start="407.789" dur="3.481">fairly well that's just news up that</text><text start="409.77" dur="3.359">might just be a page as an existent in</text><text start="411.27" dur="10.919">more cases a slightly older version of</text><text start="413.129" dur="10.921">Firefox let's go to laning yes this</text><text start="422.189" dur="3.84">seems to be working the front supports</text><text start="424.05" dur="3.899">not bad this is this is rather</text><text start="426.029" dur="3.36">impressive little bit slight things</text><text start="427.949" dur="3.21">going on there with a screen reader or</text><text start="429.389" dur="3.81">that might be a VirtualBox issue it says</text><text start="431.159" dur="4.56">this is an alpha operating system after</text><text start="433.199" dur="4.02">all that's actually working so I'm</text><text start="435.719" dur="3.57">rather impressed with this it says</text><text start="437.219" dur="8.67">Firefox is out of date so it need</text><text start="439.289" dur="12.75">updating let's try that see if we can</text><text start="445.889" dur="11.01">update this to a firefox or 52.6 and</text><text start="452.039" dur="7.65">we'll try running lout and again this</text><text start="456.899" dur="5.73">looks pretty good this is with any oh</text><text start="459.689" dur="4.59">yes fairly fairly reasonably wants us to</text><text start="462.629" dur="5.94">close what's going on already so I will</text><text start="464.279" dur="5.82">do that let's try that actually I'll be</text><text start="468.569" dur="3.39">I'll be good and close other things as</text><text start="470.099" dur="3.451">well let's try and give it the best</text><text start="471.959" dur="6.02">chance it's now for operating system</text><text start="473.55" dur="7.729">let's see if we can do this upgrade</text><text start="477.979" dur="3.3">launch it now</text><text start="483.449" dur="5.791">ah I think we've hit the point where</text><text start="486.84" dur="4.379">alpha operating system has got to us</text><text start="489.24" dur="4.349">that was a very nice fluid window slice</text><text start="491.219" dur="4.831">experiment there but clearly we can't</text><text start="493.589" dur="5.07">expect everything to work perfectly with</text><text start="496.05" dur="7.639">an alpha operating system but even so</text><text start="498.659" dur="5.03">I'm very impressed so far with react OS</text><text start="506.31" dur="5.31">well here I am back again and just to</text><text start="510.12" dur="3.66">let you know but eventually I got this</text><text start="511.62" dur="3.69">error message was Firefox who told me it</text><text start="513.78" dur="2.04">wouldn't work I couldn't get this thing</text><text start="515.31" dur="2.64">working</text><text start="515.82" dur="3.69">eventually I had to reinstall react OS</text><text start="517.95" dur="3.63">on to a new virtual machine to actually</text><text start="519.51" dur="3.54">get back to where we are now but this is</text><text start="521.58" dur="3.81">what happens when you play you</text><text start="523.05" dur="5.46">experiment with alpha software this is</text><text start="525.39" dur="5.31">all part of the excitement so what I</text><text start="528.51" dur="5.94">thought I'd do now is I'd put my</text><text start="530.7" dur="6.09">Photoshop 5.5 CD into this machine into</text><text start="534.45" dur="3.87">the test rig running this this cable in</text><text start="536.79" dur="3.39">this massive wait box with all these</text><text start="538.32" dur="5.16">manuals software used to be very very</text><text start="540.18" dur="5.46">big and if I go to my computer you'll</text><text start="543.48" dur="4.62">see we've got that a optical drive there</text><text start="545.64" dur="5.46">we can open that up and what about Rye</text><text start="548.1" dur="5.46">and do here now is to install Photoshop</text><text start="551.1" dur="3.72">5.5 is older version of Photoshop so I</text><text start="553.56" dur="4.17">think it might have a good chance of</text><text start="554.82" dur="4.23">working in react to s and the critical</text><text start="557.73" dur="3.03">thing I'm trying to prove here is we can</text><text start="559.05" dur="3.6">use this not just through an open source</text><text start="560.76" dur="3.9">software we might as well use Linux for</text><text start="562.65" dur="3.81">that but to use standard Windows</text><text start="564.66" dur="3.63">applications we might have available</text><text start="566.46" dur="3.96">which you couldn't install and use</text><text start="568.29" dur="3.84">directly natively in Linux says that's</text><text start="570.42" dur="4.59">going to be the real value of having an</text><text start="572.13" dur="4.65">operating system like react OS so let's</text><text start="575.01" dur="7.32">see how this will work I'll just flick</text><text start="576.78" dur="9.12">through the install and there we are</text><text start="582.33" dur="7.88">we've seen two other installed which is</text><text start="585.9" dur="8.34">pretty good and if we go to the the menu</text><text start="590.21" dur="9.07">yes we've got Adobe Photoshop 5.5 let's</text><text start="594.24" dur="6.96">see if it will launch and there we are</text><text start="599.28" dur="5.66">I thought it had crashed but it hasn't</text><text start="601.2" dur="7.2">it has got there so we are now running</text><text start="604.94" dur="5.83">Photoshop natively in an on Windows</text><text start="608.4" dur="4.35">operating system that is a fantastic</text><text start="610.77" dur="3.72">success for react so as I'm very</text><text start="612.75" dur="6.15">impressed with this can we open the</text><text start="614.49" dur="6.69">document I've got sitting in C Docs</text><text start="618.9" dur="4.83">what seems to be a good JPEG to use</text><text start="621.18" dur="6.06">there we are just brought a JPEG into</text><text start="623.73" dur="5.31">Photoshop in react to us isn't that</text><text start="627.24" dur="4.32">fantastic so presumably I've got my</text><text start="629.04" dur="5.13">normal Photoshop stuff there I can go</text><text start="631.56" dur="4.11">and pick up a brush sorts it is a</text><text start="634.17" dur="3.48">version back is not try remember how</text><text start="635.67" dur="3.419">this version worked but it must resume</text><text start="637.65" dur="1.92">Lee worked at us that's all the good</text><text start="639.089" dur="2.461">choices</text><text start="639.57" dur="4.53">Chris no no no no let's fix something a</text><text start="641.55" dur="3.99">bit better than that it's not not that</text><text start="644.1" dur="3.21">different to what you use Chris surely</text><text start="645.54" dur="2.97">how did we change brush settings here</text><text start="647.31" dur="4.11">there must have been a way of doing that</text><text start="648.51" dur="5.07">I can't quite remember but um yes it</text><text start="651.42" dur="4.14">works and presuming we can can we apply</text><text start="653.58" dur="6.12">filters and things maybe we can let's</text><text start="655.56" dur="5.19">try and do something this is this is</text><text start="659.7" dur="4.55">weird of course because the actual</text><text start="660.75" dur="6.27">harbour arm will be quite good for there</text><text start="664.25" dur="7.18">so that's a very rocky effect doesn't it</text><text start="667.02" dur="6.63">matter we can yes well there we are</text><text start="671.43" dur="3.87">this as you can probably tell I've done</text><text start="673.65" dur="3.54">this live for you and it's work this</text><text start="675.3" dur="7.67">this is impressive we're actually</text><text start="677.19" dur="5.78">running Photoshop in react OS</text><text start="686.11" dur="4.56">I really like reactor less it's got a</text><text start="688.18" dur="4.29">great look and feel it just gets on
