<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?><transcript><text start="0" dur="5.25">hello everybody and welcome back to</text><text start="2.58" dur="3.989">another video now in today's video we're</text><text start="5.25" dur="4.83">going to be taking a look at another</text><text start="6.569" dur="5.28">user interface modification for Windows</text><text start="10.08" dur="5.429">and this one is actually pretty cool</text><text start="11.849" dur="5.43">it's called a bump top desktop now this</text><text start="15.509" dur="3.331">was actually made aware to me in a</text><text start="17.279" dur="4.5">couple of comments from some of you guys</text><text start="18.84" dur="4.859">actually back on my Cairo video which</text><text start="21.779" dur="3.301">was another user interface modification</text><text start="23.699" dur="4.32">for Windows and I think even a video</text><text start="25.08" dur="4.38">before that but what this is is it is a</text><text start="28.019" dur="4.531">3d UI</text><text start="29.46" dur="4.65">replacement for both Windows and Mac OS</text><text start="32.55" dur="3.779">there's actually a version of this that</text><text start="34.11" dur="3.96">works on Mac OS which is pretty cool now</text><text start="36.329" dur="3.271">this was initially released the very</text><text start="38.07" dur="4.41">first version was made publicly</text><text start="39.6" dur="5.01">available in the year 2009 but the</text><text start="42.48" dur="3.96">initial concept and I was actually very</text><text start="44.61" dur="5.58">interested to hear about this it</text><text start="46.44" dur="6.75">actually was conceived in the Year 2006</text><text start="50.19" dur="5.369">three years before it was released that</text><text start="53.19" dur="4.65">is a year after YouTube was launched</text><text start="55.559" dur="4.381">that is a year before the iPhone was</text><text start="57.84" dur="4.649">released and it was first shown publicly</text><text start="59.94" dur="4.109">that year with a YouTube video which I</text><text start="62.489" dur="3.301">will have down below it's still up on</text><text start="64.049" dur="3.211">YouTube right now I'll actually probably</text><text start="65.79" dur="2.78">put it up in the cards if you guys want</text><text start="67.26" dur="4.74">to go ahead and actually check it out</text><text start="68.57" dur="4.839">but it's a video of a of the very first</text><text start="72" dur="3.6">version of this project being</text><text start="73.409" dur="4.621">demonstrated and what's also pretty cool</text><text start="75.6" dur="5.85">is there's a point in that video where</text><text start="78.03" dur="5.67">it's actually shown running on an XP</text><text start="81.45" dur="4.08">tablet computer that looks identical to</text><text start="83.7" dur="3.48">one of the ones that I got from a viewer</text><text start="85.53" dur="3.33">out there named Mitchell that I've</text><text start="87.18" dur="4.16">showcase in a couple of videos on this</text><text start="88.86" dur="5.369">channel it's that toshiba portage a</text><text start="91.34" dur="4.54">laptop so this was kind of designed and</text><text start="94.229" dur="3.061">one of the unique things about this</text><text start="95.88" dur="2.61">project it makes it a little bit</text><text start="97.29" dur="2.67">different than some of these other ones</text><text start="98.49" dur="3.87">that we take a look at is not only is it</text><text start="99.96" dur="5.07">3d but it was also designed for a</text><text start="102.36" dur="4.23">touch-based interface like I said that</text><text start="105.03" dur="3.9">video shows it running on a tablet</text><text start="106.59" dur="4.349">computer and later versions supported a</text><text start="108.93" dur="4.2">multi-touch interaction with it so it</text><text start="110.939" dur="4.741">actually uses gestures as you can see</text><text start="113.13" dur="4.86">from this image right here you know and</text><text start="115.68" dur="3.96">if you go to the website this is the the</text><text start="117.99" dur="3.72">main site where you can download it from</text><text start="119.64" dur="3.869">and so yeah you can kind of see here all</text><text start="121.71" dur="4.199">these different gestures that he's doing</text><text start="123.509" dur="4.771">here to kind of interact with the system</text><text start="125.909" dur="4.171">I would actually like to use this</text><text start="128.28" dur="3.24">interface on like a tablet or or</text><text start="130.08" dur="2.51">something like that I just don't have a</text><text start="131.52" dur="2.95">Windows tab</text><text start="132.59" dur="4.47">that is a you know multi-touch tablet</text><text start="134.47" dur="3.7">that can run Windows at the moment so</text><text start="137.06" dur="3.33">we're going to have to just you know</text><text start="138.17" dur="3.84">resort to using this on a standard</text><text start="140.39" dur="3.36">desktop computer as you can probably</text><text start="142.01" dur="3.33">also kind of see with the way like that</text><text start="143.75" dur="4.2">whole top-down view it basically</text><text start="145.34" dur="3.69">imitates and one of the the goals of it</text><text start="147.95" dur="3.33">and one of the things that the author</text><text start="149.03" dur="4.679">actually talks about in this TED talk</text><text start="151.28" dur="4.2">right here this is a TED talk from 2007</text><text start="153.709" dur="4.161">and he kind of says that one of the</text><text start="155.48" dur="5.789">inspirations behind the program was</text><text start="157.87" dur="6.46">wanting to kind of make computers work a</text><text start="161.269" dur="4.411">little bit more like your desk just kind</text><text start="164.33" dur="3.3">of the way that you have things laid out</text><text start="165.68" dur="4.589">on your desk so that was kind of one of</text><text start="167.63" dur="5.07">the goals of this program so it's kind</text><text start="170.269" dur="5.821">of designed in some ways to imitate a</text><text start="172.7" dur="6.02">real computer desk with objects now this</text><text start="176.09" dur="5.009">project was actually kind of short-lived</text><text start="178.72" dur="3.37">but that's a good thing actually at</text><text start="181.099" dur="4.321">least for the people who actually</text><text start="182.09" dur="5.729">created it because just one year later</text><text start="185.42" dur="4.319">one year after it was initially released</text><text start="187.819" dur="4.801">the company was actually bought out by</text><text start="189.739" dur="4.681">Google yes Google actually bought them</text><text start="192.62" dur="3.63">out which is pretty awesome and when</text><text start="194.42" dur="4.53">they were bought out by Google sometime</text><text start="196.25" dur="4.23">after that happened bump technologies</text><text start="198.95" dur="5.069">which is the name of the actual company</text><text start="200.48" dur="5.43">actually removed a bump top from the</text><text start="204.019" dur="2.461">website so you could no longer download</text><text start="205.91" dur="2.25">it anymore</text><text start="206.48" dur="4.47">Google implemented some of the</text><text start="208.16" dur="6.18">technologies that we know were developed</text><text start="210.95" dur="4.86">by Boehm technologies into Android so</text><text start="214.34" dur="2.869">that is actually pretty cool as well and</text><text start="215.81" dur="5.22">they talked a little bit more about that</text><text start="217.209" dur="5.261">on this github page right here now there</text><text start="221.03" dur="3">were two different versions of this</text><text start="222.47" dur="5.129">program there was a free version and a</text><text start="224.03" dur="5.429">paid version and the activation server</text><text start="227.599" dur="4.17">some time once again after they were</text><text start="229.459" dur="3.9">acquired by Google the activation</text><text start="231.769" dur="4.111">servers were actually shut down so you</text><text start="233.359" dur="3.96">could no longer use the paid version now</text><text start="235.88" dur="2.969">you might be wondering okay so then how</text><text start="237.319" dur="3.991">are we able to actually take a look at</text><text start="238.849" dur="5.76">it today well that's because back in</text><text start="241.31" dur="5.399">2012 about eight years ago now Google</text><text start="244.609" dur="4.141">actually made this project open-source</text><text start="246.709" dur="4.081">so yes this is completely open-source</text><text start="248.75" dur="3.93">now and it is free to download once</text><text start="250.79" dur="5.129">again so you can go on here and they</text><text start="252.68" dur="5.07">have the free version like the the last</text><text start="255.919" dur="5.341">version that they made which is version</text><text start="257.75" dur="4.87">2.5 so that is a very very brief history</text><text start="261.26" dur="3.07">of this project</text><text start="262.62" dur="4.079">kind of how it came to be and what it</text><text start="264.33" dur="4.23">aim to do now let's actually let me</text><text start="266.699" dur="4.261">actually just close out of Firefox here</text><text start="268.56" dur="4.35">let's actually take a look at so we are</text><text start="270.96" dur="3.179">running a Windows 7 and the version that</text><text start="272.91" dur="4.8">were gonna be taking a look at today is</text><text start="274.139" dur="5.221">as I said 2.5 now this is newer than the</text><text start="277.71" dur="4.019">version that was demonstrated in both</text><text start="279.36" dur="5.01">that original YouTube video from 2006</text><text start="281.729" dur="4.591">and in the TED talk given by the author</text><text start="284.37" dur="4.799">he was also using I believe the same</text><text start="286.32" dur="4.98">version or maybe a slightly newer</text><text start="289.169" dur="4.141">version as what was shown in the</text><text start="291.3" dur="4.47">original YouTube video this one right</text><text start="293.31" dur="5.46">here is completely different there's a</text><text start="295.77" dur="4.86">lot of changes done from that initial</text><text start="298.77" dur="3.57">release so you might be wondering why</text><text start="300.63" dur="3.84">I've got all these icons on the desktop</text><text start="302.34" dur="4.44">here that is just so that we can</text><text start="304.47" dur="3.96">actually that I can actually show you</text><text start="306.78" dur="3.419">bump top in action because you need to</text><text start="308.43" dur="3.45">have some icons on your desktop to</text><text start="310.199" dur="3.181">really use one of the main</text><text start="311.88" dur="3.45">functionalities of this program and that</text><text start="313.38" dur="4.71">is organizing your desktop so let's just</text><text start="315.33" dur="4.68">go ahead and launch it right here so</text><text start="318.09" dur="3.9">there we go it launches up and you can</text><text start="320.01" dur="4.23">see that we still have access to the</text><text start="321.99" dur="4.59">Start menu and the taskbar so it does</text><text start="324.24" dur="4.08">not completely take over everything so</text><text start="326.58" dur="3.12">these are all of our shortcuts here I</text><text start="328.32" dur="3.21">just kind of have them you know thrown</text><text start="329.7" dur="3.5">around arranged in various different</text><text start="331.53" dur="4.53">ways now there's a couple different</text><text start="333.2" dur="4.51">surfaces that you have in this program</text><text start="336.06" dur="3.63">here so this one that you're looking</text><text start="337.71" dur="3.87">down on right now is kind of going to be</text><text start="339.69" dur="3.27">your main view this is where you're</text><text start="341.58" dur="3.69">gonna probably launch most of your</text><text start="342.96" dur="3.81">programs from then you also have these</text><text start="345.27" dur="3.45">walls up here which you can double click</text><text start="346.77" dur="4.709">on to actually you know change your a</text><text start="348.72" dur="5.43">viewpoint and actually look directly at</text><text start="351.479" dur="4.591">the wall so you can also like if I</text><text start="354.15" dur="3.51">wanted to drag this icon right here up</text><text start="356.07" dur="3.99">to the wall and have it be on the wall</text><text start="357.66" dur="5.1">instead you could definitely do that so</text><text start="360.06" dur="4.38">basically everything on this bottom</text><text start="362.76" dur="4.11">portion right here and also on the walls</text><text start="364.44" dur="4.38">can be moved around wherever you want so</text><text start="366.87" dur="3.66">there's a lot of customizability there</text><text start="368.82" dur="3.48">now I can even if I want to zoom in a</text><text start="370.53" dur="3.87">little bit closer I can double click on</text><text start="372.3" dur="3.78">the bottom surface and now it will</text><text start="374.4" dur="3.86">actually this is probably the closest</text><text start="376.08" dur="4.019">the bum top is ever going to look</text><text start="378.26" dur="3.55">compared to their regular Windows</text><text start="380.099" dur="4.581">desktop because right now aside from the</text><text start="381.81" dur="5.25">way these icons are arranged it</text><text start="384.68" dur="4.63">definitely looks like a standard Windows</text><text start="387.06" dur="3.72">desktop with a background but obviously</text><text start="389.31" dur="4.56">when you double click on that it will</text><text start="390.78" dur="4.76">kind of reset to the to the main view so</text><text start="393.87" dur="3.68">you can launch programs</text><text start="395.54" dur="3.66">just as you would from the Windows</text><text start="397.55" dur="3.39">desktop like if I want to launch Firefox</text><text start="399.2" dur="3.69">here I can double click on Firefox and</text><text start="400.94" dur="4.2">it'll do that nice kind of animation as</text><text start="402.89" dur="3.9">its launching the program so your icons</text><text start="405.14" dur="3.45">can be kind of moved around even kind of</text><text start="406.79" dur="4.17">like throwing around and just kind of</text><text start="408.59" dur="6.09">place wherever you want them to be on</text><text start="410.96" dur="5.55">the desktop but what's cool is is how</text><text start="414.68" dur="3.57">you actually organize everything well</text><text start="416.51" dur="4.2">what you can do with this is like group</text><text start="418.25" dur="4.02">these icons into they're called stacks</text><text start="420.71" dur="4.17">in this program and they basically</text><text start="422.27" dur="4.29">replace folders now folders also I'll</text><text start="424.88" dur="4.23">get into this in a minute do function</text><text start="426.56" dur="4.8">very similarly to stacks because I have</text><text start="429.11" dur="3.99">this folder right here created before</text><text start="431.36" dur="2.88">that I actually launch the program but</text><text start="433.1" dur="3.09">let's say that I want to take all of</text><text start="434.24" dur="3.84">these shortcuts right here my pictures</text><text start="436.19" dur="3.45">documents music let's take this help</text><text start="438.08" dur="3.45">document right here or this help</text><text start="439.64" dur="4.35">shortcut let's take the recycle bin and</text><text start="441.53" dur="5.4">maybe the default programs what I can do</text><text start="443.99" dur="4.8">is I can draw a circle around this and</text><text start="446.93" dur="4.86">then once this icon comes up right here</text><text start="448.79" dur="4.86">I can drag my mouse straight up and now</text><text start="451.79" dur="3.9">it has created a pile sorry they're not</text><text start="453.65" dur="4.53">called sacks are called piles now if you</text><text start="455.69" dur="4.32">double click on this pile right here it</text><text start="458.18" dur="3.84">will open up on what's called the grid</text><text start="460.01" dur="3.51">view and that just gives you basically</text><text start="462.02" dur="4.11">like a folder it actually kind of</text><text start="463.52" dur="4.38">reminds me of fences which is a startup</text><text start="466.13" dur="4.2">program that I used to use a lot which</text><text start="467.9" dur="5.79">basically let you group icons together</text><text start="470.33" dur="4.8">in there are called fences obviously so</text><text start="473.69" dur="3.6">this kind of interface right here kind</text><text start="475.13" dur="4.02">of reminds me of that but if you</text><text start="477.29" dur="3.33">right-click on this you can see right</text><text start="479.15" dur="3.42">here you've got a ton of different view</text><text start="480.62" dur="3.54">options so I can hit fan out and all of</text><text start="482.57" dur="3.51">these do have keyboard shortcuts by the</text><text start="484.16" dur="4.98">way as well so right now I'm kind of</text><text start="486.08" dur="5.07">fanning it out and if I click I can you</text><text start="489.14" dur="3.72">know open up any one of these so if I</text><text start="491.15" dur="3.39">want to open up documents there you go</text><text start="492.86" dur="2.28">and then I can click on this red X once</text><text start="494.54" dur="3.39">I'm done</text><text start="495.14" dur="5.01">and it'll kind of go right back to the</text><text start="497.93" dur="4.68">pile right there if I want to move these</text><text start="500.15" dur="3.93">into a regular windows folder I could</text><text start="502.61" dur="3.3">right click on it and click on folder</text><text start="504.08" dur="3.39">eyes it's obviously not going to be able</text><text start="505.91" dur="2.93">to work since I've got the recycle bin</text><text start="507.47" dur="3.6">in there so we're just gonna say no</text><text start="508.84" dur="4.57">because it was gonna have me break the</text><text start="511.07" dur="4.17">pile no breaking the pile just separates</text><text start="513.41" dur="3.99">everything and it takes it out of the</text><text start="515.24" dur="4.56">pile once again to remake I just got a</text><text start="517.4" dur="4.35">drawing a circle around them drag up and</text><text start="519.8" dur="4.43">then it creates city pile right there so</text><text start="521.75" dur="4.92">it's just kind of designed to give you a</text><text start="524.23" dur="4.3">different way to kind of manage all your</text><text start="526.67" dur="2.52">icons so like I said all of these do</text><text start="528.53" dur="2.25">have a</text><text start="529.19" dur="3.09">keyboard shortcuts and also like with</text><text start="530.78" dur="4.74">double-clicking and using the scroll</text><text start="532.28" dur="5.55">wheel they do have mouse shortcuts as</text><text start="535.52" dur="4.56">well so what I can do is if I don't want</text><text start="537.83" dur="2.55">to double click on this to see what's in</text><text start="540.08" dur="2.25">here</text><text start="540.38" dur="4.38">I can mouse over and then start using</text><text start="542.33" dur="5.34">the scroll wheel and I can get access to</text><text start="544.76" dur="4.38">all of the various icons in there so if</text><text start="547.67" dur="3.21">I wanted to launch a default program</text><text start="549.14" dur="3.66">which is at the bottom I can just mouse</text><text start="550.88" dur="4.14">over it scroll and then launch default</text><text start="552.8" dur="4.35">programs right there and there you go so</text><text start="555.02" dur="3.81">this is probably like your your quickest</text><text start="557.15" dur="3.69">way to launch these programs using the</text><text start="558.83" dur="4.23">least amount of clicks possible because</text><text start="560.84" dur="4.62">you're just going up here using the</text><text start="563.06" dur="3.99">scroll wheel to get to whatever item you</text><text start="565.46" dur="3.06">want and then just double click on it</text><text start="567.05" dur="3.03">and then you actually launch it now one</text><text start="568.52" dur="4.35">of the other cool things that you can do</text><text start="570.08" dur="4.83">is and this is kind of going back to the</text><text start="572.87" dur="3.66">desk analogy is you know you you</text><text start="574.91" dur="3.39">probably have some things on your desk</text><text start="576.53" dur="4.08">that are larger than other things so</text><text start="578.3" dur="4.5">what you can do is actually change the</text><text start="580.61" dur="4.68">size of every single thing here to</text><text start="582.8" dur="6.51">whatever size that you want and that</text><text start="585.29" dur="6.69">kind of is going to be a way to signify</text><text start="589.31" dur="5.61">what's most important or what is most</text><text start="591.98" dur="5.31">used so for example I use my browser a</text><text start="594.92" dur="3.9">lot so for Firefox here let's say that I</text><text start="597.29" dur="3.15">want to make this larger but what I can</text><text start="598.82" dur="4.59">do is right-click on it and click on</text><text start="600.44" dur="4.47">grow or I can press ctrl G because once</text><text start="603.41" dur="4.29">again everything has a keyboard shortcut</text><text start="604.91" dur="5.1">so I can press grow I can press ctrl G</text><text start="607.7" dur="3.81">to make it super large if I want to eat</text><text start="610.01" dur="3.51">to the point where it just is like</text><text start="611.51" dur="3.69">obnoxiously large and you know you can</text><text start="613.52" dur="3.06">have this wherever you want I would</text><text start="615.2" dur="4.11">probably not want to have it this large</text><text start="616.58" dur="4.17">so ctrl s is going to shrink it there so</text><text start="619.31" dur="3.27">I mean this right here this is much</text><text start="620.75" dur="3.48">larger than all these other icons so it</text><text start="622.58" dur="4.26">kind of signifies to the user that</text><text start="624.23" dur="4.44">that's a more important item so you</text><text start="626.84" dur="4.17">would probably want to have like your</text><text start="628.67" dur="3.9">browser you might want to have like</text><text start="631.01" dur="4.2">let's go ahead and set the browser up</text><text start="632.57" dur="4.17">here you might want to have maybe my</text><text start="635.21" dur="3.09">computer we can kind of you know grow</text><text start="636.74" dur="4.349">this a little bit maybe not have it as</text><text start="638.3" dur="4.89">large as Firefox but maybe larger than</text><text start="641.089" dur="3.661">all these other icons here and let's say</text><text start="643.19" dur="3.51">you may want to have them in like the</text><text start="644.75" dur="4.26">center of the screen you can maybe have</text><text start="646.7" dur="4.83">Firefox right here have the computer</text><text start="649.01" dur="5.55">here have your stack of let's say this</text><text start="651.53" dur="5.61">was your most commonly used items here</text><text start="654.56" dur="4.11">and then maybe have Microsoft Word of</text><text start="657.14" dur="3.27">course is like a super old version of it</text><text start="658.67" dur="3.44">but so yeah so these are kind of your</text><text start="660.41" dur="3.32">let's say your your mo</text><text start="662.11" dur="3.36">use programs and if you use word Allah</text><text start="663.73" dur="4.2">you can maybe make this a little bit</text><text start="665.47" dur="3.63">larger maybe as large as a firefox so</text><text start="667.93" dur="2.82">there's a lot of ways to actually</text><text start="669.1" dur="3.27">customize this now one of the other</text><text start="670.75" dur="3.959">things that you can do is even with</text><text start="672.37" dur="4.08">these different sized items is you can</text><text start="674.709" dur="3.181">make piles with them as well so if I</text><text start="676.45" dur="3.66">want to make a pile with all these items</text><text start="677.89" dur="4.68">here I can do that and you can see that</text><text start="680.11" dur="4.86">the size of the icons still takes effect</text><text start="682.57" dur="4.259">so you can see that Firefox and Word are</text><text start="684.97" dur="3.6">these two gigantic icons and then you've</text><text start="686.829" dur="2.281">got my computer and the music folder</text><text start="688.57" dur="3.389">right there</text><text start="689.11" dur="4.919">as much smaller items in there but I can</text><text start="691.959" dur="4.62">again go over to it I can scroll on it</text><text start="694.029" dur="4.831">and I can get access to all of these</text><text start="696.579" dur="4.861">items now another cool thing that you</text><text start="698.86" dur="5.7">can do is as I was saying before you can</text><text start="701.44" dur="6.18">drag anything in this interface around</text><text start="704.56" dur="4.98">to wherever you want so if I wanted</text><text start="707.62" dur="3.87">Internet Explorer maybe to be on this</text><text start="709.54" dur="3.33">side wall I could drag it up there and</text><text start="711.49" dur="3.089">then Internet Explorer will be pinned</text><text start="712.87" dur="4.709">right there and you can also do this</text><text start="714.579" dur="4.5">with widgets as well so bump top comes</text><text start="717.579" dur="3.69">with a couple of different widgets</text><text start="719.079" dur="4.051">there's a note widget over here there is</text><text start="721.269" dur="3.301">a Facebook widget right here which</text><text start="723.13" dur="3.81">unfortunately does not work anymore</text><text start="724.57" dur="5.129">because you can click on login here and</text><text start="726.94" dur="5.61">that attempts to load the facebook login</text><text start="729.699" dur="5.491">page but it is not not successful at</text><text start="732.55" dur="5.82">that you also have over here you've got</text><text start="735.19" dur="5.67">a Twitter widget and an email widget as</text><text start="738.37" dur="5.13">well so with the note widget if I want</text><text start="740.86" dur="5.039">to drag this down to my center area here</text><text start="743.5" dur="4.92">I can double click on it to create a new</text><text start="745.899" dur="4.141">note and it's got this default text here</text><text start="748.42" dur="3.12">which actually changes depending on each</text><text start="750.04" dur="3.03">note that you make so right now it says</text><text start="751.54" dur="4.109">read a book I could create a new one it</text><text start="753.07" dur="4.11">says clean on my desktop but let's say</text><text start="755.649" dur="3.601">for this one here I want to double click</text><text start="757.18" dur="5.25">on this to modify it and let's say that</text><text start="759.25" dur="5.519">I want to remind myself to edits this</text><text start="762.43" dur="4.95">video so I can do that and then click</text><text start="764.769" dur="4.801">out of that and now the actual widget</text><text start="767.38" dur="4.23">right here itself will change so now it</text><text start="769.57" dur="3.81">says edit this video and just like with</text><text start="771.61" dur="3.27">these other items I can change the size</text><text start="773.38" dur="3.959">of this so if I want this to be super</text><text start="774.88" dur="5.43">important I could kind of have it be a</text><text start="777.339" dur="5.911">gigantic up here and you can also put</text><text start="780.31" dur="4.649">this into a pile as well so if I want to</text><text start="783.25" dur="4.11">move this note into this pile right here</text><text start="784.959" dur="3.661">you could do that let's go ahead and fan</text><text start="787.36" dur="3.78">this out because I want to go ahead and</text><text start="788.62" dur="4.36">pull this note out of here so I'm gonna</text><text start="791.14" dur="3.46">remove from pile and now</text><text start="792.98" dur="3.15">the note is going to be out of the pile</text><text start="794.6" dur="3.09">you also have this nice widget right</text><text start="796.13" dur="3">here called send to printer and this is</text><text start="797.69" dur="3.149">basically if you have something that you</text><text start="799.13" dur="3.72">want to print you can literally just</text><text start="800.839" dur="3.211">drag it up to the printer icon and then</text><text start="802.85" dur="2.669">we'll say do you want to print these</text><text start="804.05" dur="3.089">files on your default printer we're</text><text start="805.519" dur="3.661">gonna say no because I don't have that</text><text start="807.139" dur="4.591">properly set up but if you had like a</text><text start="809.18" dur="3.75">text document for example I could drag</text><text start="811.73" dur="3.27">this up to the printer and then I could</text><text start="812.93" dur="5.219">say yes I want to print that so that's</text><text start="815" dur="4.92">just a way to kind of easily drag and</text><text start="818.149" dur="3.571">drop something and then after you</text><text start="819.92" dur="3.9">perform a pretty useful action with it</text><text start="821.72" dur="5.04">you also have if I double-click on the</text><text start="823.82" dur="5.43">wall right here this right here is</text><text start="826.76" dur="4.59">actually a frame which you can put a</text><text start="829.25" dur="3.899">picture or a slideshow in so you can</text><text start="831.35" dur="4.739">again make this super large if you want</text><text start="833.149" dur="5.011">to so what I could do is go to more here</text><text start="836.089" dur="4.951">and then click on change photo frame and</text><text start="838.16" dur="4.59">I can actually specify a location I</text><text start="841.04" dur="3.51">could also choose a Flickr tag this</text><text start="842.75" dur="4.17">doesn't appear to work I assume this is</text><text start="844.55" dur="4.77">going to basically take randomized</text><text start="846.92" dur="4.74">photos from Flickr depending on what tag</text><text start="849.32" dur="4.74">that you put here so for example I put</text><text start="851.66" dur="5.58">sunset in here and it should if it was</text><text start="854.06" dur="5.43">working properly an attempt to pull you</text><text start="857.24" dur="5.039">know sunset images or images that are</text><text start="859.49" dur="4.26">tagged sunset on Flickr but I don't</text><text start="862.279" dur="3.721">think that's really working here your</text><text start="863.75" dur="5.1">the last option if we go to change photo</text><text start="866" dur="5.459">frame is to get a photo RSS feed from</text><text start="868.85" dur="4.049">Flickr or Picasa Web Yin's kind of</text><text start="871.459" dur="3.18">showing its age right there now there's</text><text start="872.899" dur="3.721">also another widget which unfortunately</text><text start="874.639" dur="4.531">doesn't work anymore and that is the</text><text start="876.62" dur="4.409">sharing widget so if you right-click</text><text start="879.17" dur="4.02">anywhere on the desktop and go to this</text><text start="881.029" dur="4.321">widgets menu you're going to actually</text><text start="883.19" dur="3.48">get a list of all of the widgets that</text><text start="885.35" dur="3.539">are currently enabled so you could also</text><text start="886.67" dur="3.899">disable some of these so it's safe for</text><text start="888.889" dur="3.271">email maybe you don't use that one</text><text start="890.569" dur="4.08">you could uncheck that you see it's kind</text><text start="892.16" dur="4.979">of fall off the wall right there but we</text><text start="894.649" dur="4.711">can enable the sharing one and this is</text><text start="897.139" dur="4.291">actually pretty cool because what it did</text><text start="899.36" dur="4.229">it doesn't work anymore because once</text><text start="901.43" dur="4.8">again the actual server that hosted this</text><text start="903.589" dur="5.49">is not up anymore but you could drag any</text><text start="906.23" dur="5.4">file onto this and upload it it will</text><text start="909.079" dur="4.471">then upload it to their servers and then</text><text start="911.63" dur="4.11">it would give you a link to directly</text><text start="913.55" dur="3.779">share that file with somebody else PC it</text><text start="915.74" dur="3.75">doesn't actually work so if you were</text><text start="917.329" dur="5.07">comfortable with uploading whatever file</text><text start="919.49" dur="5.1">it was to their server this gives you a</text><text start="922.399" dur="4.261">very easy way to literally just</text><text start="924.59" dur="3.39">drag and drop something get the link and</text><text start="926.66" dur="3.45">then share it with whoever you were</text><text start="927.98" dur="3.6">gonna share it with but of course you</text><text start="930.11" dur="3.57">would have to be comfortable with having</text><text start="931.58" dur="5.4">this be on their server but you can also</text><text start="933.68" dur="5.19">actually create piles based on a couple</text><text start="936.98" dur="4.77">different parameter so you could pile by</text><text start="938.87" dur="3.51">type or pile by time so if I had pile by</text><text start="941.75" dur="1.92">type</text><text start="942.38" dur="3.27">it'll first come up with a warning and</text><text start="943.67" dur="3.45">say this will sort and move all icons on</text><text start="945.65" dur="4.23">the desktop but you want to continue and</text><text start="947.12" dur="6.09">if I say yes now we're gonna do is pile</text><text start="949.88" dur="4.59">everything up by the type that it is so</text><text start="953.21" dur="3.48">you've got your shortcuts here you've</text><text start="954.47" dur="3.66">got miscellaneous items here you've got</text><text start="956.69" dur="3.78">your sticky notes here and then you have</text><text start="958.13" dur="4.41">your system icons over here you see the</text><text start="960.47" dur="3.78">recycle bin is obviously separate</text><text start="962.54" dur="3.3">because there's something that you can</text><text start="964.25" dur="3.39">you know drag stuff to and yeah by the</text><text start="965.84" dur="4.08">way if I want to get rid of one of these</text><text start="967.64" dur="4.2">shortcuts say this one right here just</text><text start="969.92" dur="3.93">like on the desktop I can drag it to the</text><text start="971.84" dur="4.11">recycle bin it'll come up with the same</text><text start="973.85" dur="4.41">standard windows dialog and I can say</text><text start="975.95" dur="4.14">yes I wanted to delete that shortcut and</text><text start="978.26" dur="3.6">there you go now let me actually show</text><text start="980.09" dur="3.96">you some of these settings that you can</text><text start="981.86" dur="4.86">modify by right-clicking on the desktop</text><text start="984.05" dur="5.3">clicking on more and then going to bomb</text><text start="986.72" dur="5.94">top settings so this is the main</text><text start="989.35" dur="5.14">configuration window for palmtop now one</text><text start="992.66" dur="4.92">of the things that you guys if you watch</text><text start="994.49" dur="4.89">the original video of the very first</text><text start="997.58" dur="3">version of bum Tom one of the things</text><text start="999.38" dur="3.09">you're probably going to see is that</text><text start="1000.58" dur="3.57">when you drag the icons around they can</text><text start="1002.47" dur="3.24">kind of bump into each other and then</text><text start="1004.15" dur="4.02">kind of basically interact with each</text><text start="1005.71" dur="4.95">other and larger items will not be able</text><text start="1008.17" dur="4.29">to really be bumped as easily by smaller</text><text start="1010.66" dur="3.69">items and you guys have probably noticed</text><text start="1012.46" dur="3.78">that none of that has been happening in</text><text start="1014.35" dur="3.24">this version right here I've been trying</text><text start="1016.24" dur="2.7">to go through this settings menu off</text><text start="1017.59" dur="3.12">camera to kind of figure out how to</text><text start="1018.94" dur="4.17">enable that and I'm wondering if it's</text><text start="1020.71" dur="4.86">honestly a version or a feature that was</text><text start="1023.11" dur="4.86">available only in the pro version</text><text start="1025.57" dur="4.92">I can't tell because if you try to go to</text><text start="1027.97" dur="4.41">this comparison chart and we'll just go</text><text start="1030.49" dur="4.08">ahead and not update Firefox it just</text><text start="1032.38" dur="5.88">spits out a 404 error because it tries</text><text start="1034.57" dur="4.95">to go to bomb top comm slash Pro and</text><text start="1038.26" dur="3.09">then you know this whole string of text</text><text start="1039.52" dur="3.75">here so basically every link in this</text><text start="1041.35" dur="4.38">program is either going to redirect you</text><text start="1043.27" dur="3.96">to the main bomb top web site or it's</text><text start="1045.73" dur="4.05">going to say that it couldn't navigate</text><text start="1047.23" dur="4.74">to this page but I mean I've gone under</text><text start="1049.78" dur="3.42">icons and physics I've enabled both of</text><text start="1051.97" dur="3.33">these items right here they don't really</text><text start="1053.2" dur="3.3">talk about you know bumping anything all</text><text start="1055.3" dur="1.81">these settings in here don't really</text><text start="1056.5" dur="4.179">pertain</text><text start="1057.11" dur="5.85">- you know the actual bumping you can</text><text start="1060.679" dur="5.161">obviously still kind of throw up icons</text><text start="1062.96" dur="4.44">around and you know kind of mess with</text><text start="1065.84" dur="3.719">them that way but you just can't like</text><text start="1067.4" dur="3.84">bump this into another icon to kind of</text><text start="1069.559" dur="3.481">make them both move around so I don't</text><text start="1071.24" dur="4.2">know if that was in the demo kind of</text><text start="1073.04" dur="4.17">just a proof of concept type thing or if</text><text start="1075.44" dur="3.869">that was an original feature in the</text><text start="1077.21" dur="3.75">first version under visuals here you</text><text start="1079.309" dur="4.081">have a decent amount of visual</text><text start="1080.96" dur="4.65">modifications that you can do you can</text><text start="1083.39" dur="3.84">also go to themes here and there are a</text><text start="1085.61" dur="3.15">couple of different themes that are</text><text start="1087.23" dur="3.75">included so you can go to the bump top</text><text start="1088.76" dur="3.78">classic theme for example hit apply and</text><text start="1090.98" dur="4.59">you can see that it kind of changes the</text><text start="1092.54" dur="5.07">interface of the program a little bit so</text><text start="1095.57" dur="4.5">we go to bumped next is another theme</text><text start="1097.61" dur="4.86">here hit apply and there you go you can</text><text start="1100.07" dur="4.68">also change what wallpapers are used on</text><text start="1102.47" dur="3.57">the floor and all of the walls here so</text><text start="1104.75" dur="3.69">if I wanted to change the floor</text><text start="1106.04" dur="3.9">wallpaper to something else if I had</text><text start="1108.44" dur="3.27">like an image file that I wanted to use</text><text start="1109.94" dur="3.93">you could select that or you could just</text><text start="1111.71" dur="4.349">say use my windows background as the</text><text start="1113.87" dur="4.2">floor hit apply and now it will just</text><text start="1116.059" dur="4.651">take my desktop background which in this</text><text start="1118.07" dur="5.28">case is the default Windows 7 background</text><text start="1120.71" dur="4.349">and make that the floor now obviously</text><text start="1123.35" dur="4.74">since the bum top is kind of taken over</text><text start="1125.059" dur="5.851">your desktop here when you right-click</text><text start="1128.09" dur="4.079">to get to the context menu like you</text><text start="1130.91" dur="2.85">would normally do you obviously don't</text><text start="1132.169" dur="3.661">have that anymore you because it's been</text><text start="1133.76" dur="3.6">replaced with this new interface so when</text><text start="1135.83" dur="3.96">you go to more here you also have some</text><text start="1137.36" dur="3.72">other options that have been moved over</text><text start="1139.79" dur="3.09">here kind of from the regular</text><text start="1141.08" dur="3.839">right-click context menu so things like</text><text start="1142.88" dur="4.02">changing your screen resolution getting</text><text start="1144.919" dur="4.441">access to your gadgets or opening up the</text><text start="1146.9" dur="4.35">personalized properties have been moved</text><text start="1149.36" dur="3.09">down here so you can still get access to</text><text start="1151.25" dur="4.02">them like if I wanted to click on</text><text start="1152.45" dur="4.17">personalize change the theme for Windows</text><text start="1155.27" dur="3.24">there you go you also have some</text><text start="1156.62" dur="4.53">shortcuts to open a command prompt</text><text start="1158.51" dur="4.11">window or open an explorer window now</text><text start="1161.15" dur="3.779">one thing that I also want to touch on</text><text start="1162.62" dur="5.16">is how folders behave because folders</text><text start="1164.929" dur="5.161">behave very similarly to piles and bumm</text><text start="1167.78" dur="4.38">top right here and that's basically</text><text start="1170.09" dur="3.9">because when I open up this folder right</text><text start="1172.16" dur="5.31">here you can see it gives me the exact</text><text start="1173.99" dur="5.25">same interface as if I were to go into</text><text start="1177.47" dur="3.57">this pile and click on the grid view</text><text start="1179.24" dur="5.09">it's going to give me the exact same</text><text start="1181.04" dur="5.15">interface it's also treated as a pile</text><text start="1184.33" dur="5.1">in the sense that if I right-click on it</text><text start="1186.19" dur="5.73">and click on break pile it will break</text><text start="1189.43" dur="5.25">the items out of the folder and then</text><text start="1191.92" dur="4.41">completely get rid of the folder so that</text><text start="1194.68" dur="3.87">is how that you know folders actually</text><text start="1196.33" dur="4.38">functions so you can create piles by</text><text start="1198.55" dur="3.15">doing this gesture right here if you</text><text start="1200.71" dur="3.27">want to create a folder you can</text><text start="1201.7" dur="5.04">right-click on the desktop go to more</text><text start="1203.98" dur="4.65">and then you can click on new folder</text><text start="1206.74" dur="4.86">right here and then create a brand new</text><text start="1208.63" dur="5.13">folder I could rename this if I want to</text><text start="1211.6" dur="4.71">so you can go to more click on rename so</text><text start="1213.76" dur="4.77">let's say I want to name this new folder</text><text start="1216.31" dur="4.02">3 there you go</text><text start="1218.53" dur="4.59">and then you could also if I had like</text><text start="1220.33" dur="4.8">these items right here I'm selecting an</text><text start="1223.12" dur="5.25">inside of the folder and since this is</text><text start="1225.13" dur="5.19">actually changing the location of these</text><text start="1228.37" dur="3.03">items on the system because keep in mind</text><text start="1230.32" dur="2.73">that when you're moving things into a</text><text start="1231.4" dur="3.48">pile you're not changing the physical</text><text start="1233.05" dur="3.6">location of them on your hard drive</text><text start="1234.88" dur="3.12">since we are doing that in this case it</text><text start="1236.65" dur="3.54">will ask you are you sure you want to</text><text start="1238" dur="3.66">move these files to new folder 3 we'll</text><text start="1240.19" dur="3.54">click on yes and now it will actually</text><text start="1241.66" dur="4.2">you know physically move those items or</text><text start="1243.73" dur="4.29">shortcuts or whatever into the folder</text><text start="1245.86" dur="3.81">which is a new location which is exactly</text><text start="1248.02" dur="3.63">how our folder normally functions in</text><text start="1249.67" dur="3.87">Windows but what you can do is right</text><text start="1251.65" dur="3.87">click on it and click on expand to pile</text><text start="1253.54" dur="3.89">and this will it does not get rid of the</text><text start="1255.52" dur="4.5">folder but it will kind of give you the</text><text start="1257.43" dur="3.88">pile interface where you can kind of</text><text start="1260.02" dur="3.9">scroll through the items and all of that</text><text start="1261.31" dur="4.2">but it still functions like a folder and</text><text start="1263.92" dur="4.35">that is indicated by if we go to the</text><text start="1265.51" dur="4.47">grid here this icon up here which this</text><text start="1268.27" dur="3.45">one does not have you see if we go into</text><text start="1269.98" dur="4.35">this one here you see we do not have the</text><text start="1271.72" dur="4.5">little folder icon up here so this still</text><text start="1274.33" dur="3.96">if I right-click on it and go to a break</text><text start="1276.22" dur="4.17">pile it will ask me are you sure you</text><text start="1278.29" dur="3.51">want to move the items from the folder</text><text start="1280.39" dur="3.27">onto the desktop it will click break</text><text start="1281.8" dur="4.59">pile and now they will be back on the</text><text start="1283.66" dur="5.49">desktop but there you have it guys that</text><text start="1286.39" dur="5.97">is an in-depth look at a bump top and</text><text start="1289.15"
