using an operating system that you'venever really used before can seem like alonely experience well you don't have tosuffer alone there's plenty of peopleout there and plenty of friends ofFreeBSD[Music][Music]right this is a list of Hardware vendorsthat can ship either compatible Hardwareor actually Hardware with FreeBSDinstalled it's not an exhaustive listit's only a few that I picked out andit's in no particular orderright the first one we're looking at isbargain Hardware based in Preston UK andthis is one that I've actually shoppedfrom on various occasions via eBay youcan order of course from the websitethemselves they're very reliable there'ssome really good cracking deals thatthey have and it's based in the UK inPrestonwhich is in the north of England and oneof the great things about bargainHardware is apart from theirprofessionalism is the choice ofmachines with FreeBSD actuallyinstallable as an option which to me isfantastic like for instance this HPElite desk 800 you can of course have itwindows but you can select there at thebottom it says 3bsd installation whichis brilliant of course you get UbuntuFedora and Debian but having FreeBSD isan option is fantastic again on this HPElite desk 705 I mean I'm just pickingthese at randomum again it's FreeBSD is an option it'llbe installed for you I don't very muchit's probably going to have a GUIinstall by default it'll be just thebase install but still it's there it'san option to have something with FreeBSDand and I think it also goes the samewith all the servers available so yeahvery good an excellent option a goodcompany give it a looknext on the list is abmx it's based inTustin California and again it's mainlyuh servers and moreoh I don't know maybe businessorientated hardware and there it is it'sbased in Tustin California looks veryniceand so for instance this two U MiniServerjust scroll down to option foroperating systems if I can find it rightat the bottomnearly there keep on going there we goalthough technically you can't installFreeBSD it you can select it for OScompatibilitywhichmay not be exactly shipping it out withFreeBSD but it's pretty close in thesense that they'll make sure that itworks with itand of course if it's got Linux as anoperating system to be installed there'sa good chance it will work with FreeBSDanywhere well I see sometimes you canget that some companies may not offerFreeBSD but if they offer Linux there'sa good chance it'll work so that'salways something to bear in mind so yeahgive them a check out and see what youcan seenext is eraxEd in Hayward and Los Gatos inCalifornia uh excuse the pronunciationandthey also have quite a friendlyrelationship with open source softwareand FreeBSD is listed at the bottom nowwhich is interestingyou can probably tell by the name of thecompany that they deal with a lot ofserver Hardwareand if you want to contact them therethey are in Hayward Los GatosDhaka in Bangladesh which is interestingoh of course you can email themthrough the web if we have a look atthis uh example of what they offerand if you go down to the configurationoptionsapart from the usual PCI HardwareEtc that you can configure if you lookat the installable OS uh scroll down ohthere we gouh he says oh there we go you can haveFreeBSD Legacy or FreeBSDreleaseour production so I just imagine theLegacy will be the last supportedrelease will be 12.1 Etc then less andthen the uhthe production will be the 13.1 nextwe'll have a look from me racks we'regoing to look at the idesk Q3 this ismore of a workstation and again it's thesame choice of FreeBSD can a productionor Legacy again like bargain Hardwarealthough this is newer Hardware it's agreat option and a great opportunity tohave FreeBSD installed and then shippedhereit's really nice indeed and they do awhole range of other large Machinerybusiness and Industrial so yeah veryprofessionally done very nicenext is SW Technology based in DallasTexasthey do storage systems serversEtc like theother companies were mentioned but italso says we have a full lineup ofpre-configured Linux and FreeBSDmachinesso we'll have a look atuh Xeon well we've got workstation theXeon workstation let's have a look therewe golovely xeonsand again like the previous site you geta hardware and software configurationand let's have a scroll down there yetthe default is for Dora 35 but there isan option for FreeBSD installation againbrilliant you can have servers orworkstations with FreeBSD installedand speaking of computers we have thinkpenguin pasting Keen New Hampshirenow this is a dedicated as far as I knowit's a dedicated company which onlysells Linux machines or Linux compatiblemachines as you would expect really alot of Hardware which isto them which would be provencompatible with Linux and again it'sprobably going to be compatible with3bsd although there are some caveats andthere's a long list of supported Linuxdistros if this is something you mightbe interested in uh it's quite a lot ofarch and Manjarobut yeah I don't know whether this Imean I don't really keep up with thelatest thing but if say for instancethis is the latest technology and itruns lurks yeah you might have a look ofit on free PSTand I think anyway I think even though Idon't use Linux I think just having a anexpanding range of companies that sellLinux based machines is a good thinganywhereyeah bothos's will benefit from this of courseyou've got peripherals that are mostlikely to be compatible with Linux andFreeBSD have a look and uh give them acall if you have any questionsnext we've got Netgear famously uhrenowned for thenetworking gear based in Austin in TexasI don't think really many people need tobe introduced to Netgear if you're inthe I.T sectorthey do some fantastic routersand switches Etc network cards but whyI've included them on here is you canbuy the netgatesystems with PF sense already installedand if you already know that pfSense isbased upon FreeBSDso in a sense you're getting a FreeBSDsystem pre-configuredthe firewall networking Etcand yeah I mean you could of course setup a just a generic box and put FreeBSDin a configure it manually of course youcan but this comes pre-configuredalready set up with a fantastic GUI viayour browserand they have aa brilliant reputationfor knowing what they're talking aboutand they have good support as welland if you're really in the market forGeneral networkingI think Netgear supplies everything youcould possibly need so they've got somerack mounted devices some under thetable or on the table devicesyeah it's pretty cool[Music]next we're looking at Services now theservices on offer here could be webhosting they could be after salessupport or just general inquiries orjobs to fix things and again in noparticular orderand the first one we're going to have alook at is Sam Sheridan of Sheridancomputers based in Manchester in Englandand yeah I mean he's a smart guy and hehas over 20 odd years of experience innetworking and fixing and you name ityou probably can do it for you and whyhe is listed in the friends of FreeBSDis because he has produced quite a fewvideos and that's how I came first toknow about him about FreeBSDon YouTube and that's like I'minterested in looking at his website andI became more impressed about what theyhad to offer and the videos that he'smade a there's a lot of subjects covereduh a lot of them are up in sales based alot of Security baseduh there's some himself hello Samandthe great thing is he's done quite a fewFreeBSD ones starting here a lot of theasterisk videos how to install thattelephony softwareand some Mullerah so look at thatinbound and outbound calls you know abit ofIP PBX yeah so yeah anyway yeah he'sdone quite a few videos on FreeBSD ifyou go to his uh YouTube web page checkthem out and send uh I send all off fromRob and lucky for me pleasenext is FreeBSD mall now established in1991 in Brentwood California now theseare someone that I've uh bought someitems from beforeandI I find it quite amazing that a companycansell FreeBSD related gear when reallyit's something which you don't seeanyone else really doing the coursesthere's one or two other ones wherepeople can or can order bespark itemsbut here is a company that sells booksand t-shirtsuh DVD ROMs if you uh if you want thecollect the set some people doand previous daymachines or you're in that particularmarket then you know it's somethingwhich is very useful and they'reactually backed by IX systems IX systemsknow what they're talking about when itcomes timeand he is someone which I've consultedon numerous occasions I always referpeople to his blog and he producesvaluable news by the way which is aweekly uh news compendium of all thethings related to just not just FreeBSDbut open BSD net BST Linux Etc and it'san essential reading and if you're onTwitter then you subscribe to him thenyou'll get notification when it releasesit and it's something that you reallyshouldn't Miss it's really really goodand like I said that whenever anyone'sgot any problems or uh questions I can'tanswer which is probably uhmore often than not I'll refer them tohis blog because he is also thedeveloper maintainer of a beat Mand he says he started BDM in2012 and developed support today in themeantime the FreeBSD project uh createdits own calledbectl aims to implant ba B dams in the Clanguage I'm not even pronouncing itright I want someone's pointed aboutthat they've never heard anyone exum pronounce b Dem and Bechtel in theway that I do but it's the way
