as</text><text start="10.42" dur="4.83">of middle about the middle last month</text><text start="12.82" dur="4.35">I'd yes so it's not been now I've been</text><text start="15.25" dur="4.8">with with officially with them but I've</text><text start="17.17" dur="8.189">been working doing some the beta testing</text><text start="20.05" dur="7.289">and stuff for during the beta stage all</text><text start="25.359" dur="3.691">right so I'm gonna go ahead and restart</text><text start="27.339" dur="6.091">this I just need to make sure but</text><text start="29.05" dur="6.66">basically it's no this should be this</text><text start="33.43" dur="10.08">should be good here if I need to speak</text><text start="35.71" dur="9.84">up I can all right so the install is</text><text start="43.51" dur="5.45">very much the same as they all of them</text><text start="45.55" dur="6.18">have been with the that you know pate a</text><text start="48.96" dur="6.34">CD install and of course this requires</text><text start="51.73" dur="6.21">actually a DVD for the size because it</text><text start="55.3" dur="5.85">increases over the size of a CD for</text><text start="57.94" dur="6.89">quite some time now so moved from hard</text><text start="61.15" dur="8.37">disk boot from the Ark OS boot cd-rom</text><text start="64.83" dur="7.09">default values you know or me you know</text><text start="69.52" dur="3.659">you boot with menu for our own option</text><text start="71.92" dur="4.829">values I'm gonna go ahead and show that</text><text start="73.179" dur="6.15">one just so you see what's in there most</text><text start="76.749" dur="5.131">of the time you can probably use boot</text><text start="79.329" dur="8.57">with default values unless you're using</text><text start="81.88" dur="9.15">a modified virtual machine for instance</text><text start="87.899" dur="5.561">if you use the default values for</text><text start="91.03" dur="4.53">VirtualBox you can even boot with</text><text start="93.46" dur="3.57">default values but when you tweak them</text><text start="95.56" dur="5.009">like I do for trying to get a little</text><text start="97.03" dur="6.089">better performance out of them it goes</text><text start="100.569" dur="6.33">with the defaults of what VirtualBox is</text><text start="103.119" dur="5.49">so you'll have to change them for this</text><text start="106.899" dur="3.36">install I wouldn't have on this machine</text><text start="108.609" dur="4.521">I wouldn't need to wouldn't actually</text><text start="110.259" dur="2.871">need to change them</text><text start="115.63" dur="10.72">all right basic help structure here you</text><text start="121.52" dur="13.77">can get some more help with f1 depending</text><text start="126.35" dur="12.3">on the context pages alright so modern</text><text start="135.29" dur="7.86">hardware a CPI is what you'd use on most</text><text start="138.65" dur="8.13">of the modern systems something like a</text><text start="143.15" dur="8.059">t42 you can use the modern hardware a</text><text start="146.78" dur="8.69">CPI I figure most people or probably use</text><text start="151.209" dur="7">the older hardware so they get the APM</text><text start="155.47" dur="5.92">driver from it where they can put it and</text><text start="158.209" dur="5.461">suspend better and such but you can use</text><text start="161.39" dur="5.849">even on a t42 can use the modern</text><text start="163.67" dur="6.06">hardware so anything newer than a t42</text><text start="167.239" dur="9.171">you have the you know that modern</text><text start="169.73" dur="6.68">hardware will definitely work on yep yes</text><text start="177.91" dur="7.51">no I believe it's not going to be the SP</text><text start="182.09" dur="7.86">car hardware but a t42 doesn't have an</text><text start="185.42" dur="7.409">SMP so if you were using something as</text><text start="189.95" dur="5.4">SMP that is older like in the age of a</text><text start="192.829" dur="8.031">t42 you'd probably still want the a CPI</text><text start="195.35" dur="5.51">for getting the multi MP capability</text><text start="202.6" dur="6.22">alright one thing I do change here but</text><text start="207.26" dur="3.69">you don't have to do it in this you</text><text start="208.82" dur="3.3">don't have to do it from this here you</text><text start="210.95" dur="5.01">could always do it from the regular</text><text start="212.12" dur="10.5">install is on and ThinkPads the a mouse</text><text start="215.96" dur="8.25">driver does not play well with the with</text><text start="222.62" dur="3.21">the track point so I always always</text><text start="224.21" dur="9.48">change it from here but you can change</text><text start="225.83" dur="10.86">it in the Installer as well alright so</text><text start="233.69" dur="4.59">this is these are basically if you don't</text><text start="236.69" dur="3.3">make any changes these are you know</text><text start="238.28" dur="3.98">these are basically if you just was a</text><text start="239.99" dur="5.61">default install its gonna these are this</text><text start="242.26" dur="5.949">these would be the default now I tend to</text><text start="245.6" dur="5.28">from most of my installs I get rid of</text><text start="248.209" dur="3.511">the IDE because I don't have any IDE</text><text start="250.88" dur="7.53">hardware</text><text start="251.72" dur="8.639">even my CD ROM is HCI but it doesn't</text><text start="258.41" dur="3.78">hurt to leave it in there and it should</text><text start="260.359" dur="2.401">put it second in this in this in the</text><text start="262.19" dur="3.45">list</text><text start="262.76" dur="5.6">so therefore the age that I've used</text><text start="265.64" dur="2.72">first anyhow</text><text start="269.949" dur="12.201">one thing that they said no that's not</text><text start="278.919" dur="3.231">the right one where am I at</text><text start="283.65" dur="4.81">alright so then most of the rest this</text><text start="286.569" dur="3.241">unless you know that you have something</text><text start="288.46" dur="3.539">that you need to change</text><text start="289.81" dur="4.59">I don't not came across and installed</text><text start="291.999" dur="6.45">and I needed to change these with the</text><text start="294.4" dur="6.599">exception of I had certain ones that did</text><text start="298.449" dur="5.641">not turn on the support for support boot</text><text start="300.999" dur="5.491">for us from USB I don't think even then</text><text start="304.09" dur="4.379">it was necessary but because it talks</text><text start="306.49" dur="3.389">about requires mass storage support I</text><text start="308.469" dur="3.48">made sure it was checked to make sure</text><text start="309.879" dur="4.141">that it didn't say oh let's not install</text><text start="311.949" dur="3.421">the mass storage support I don't think</text><text start="314.02" dur="3.75">that'd be an issue but that is the only</text><text start="315.37" dur="4.53">thing I've ever changed besides the</text><text start="317.77" dur="11.06">storage controllers on this page for any</text><text start="319.9" dur="8.93">of my installs yeah yeah</text><text start="338.079" dur="20.29">how about this one yeah okay I don't</text><text start="352.159" dur="8.04">know okay yeah I never I never had it</text><text start="358.369" dur="3.96">happen on me in my installs because I</text><text start="360.199" dur="4.65">was using internal loins still never saw</text><text start="362.329" dur="14.37">it I also tested some with an external</text><text start="364.849" dur="13.83">CD cd-rom but yeah okay so so there's</text><text start="376.699" dur="4.38">another potential place to need that so</text><text start="378.679" dur="4.26">there there are reasons that this is you</text><text start="381.079" dur="3.12">know that these are these are basically</text><text start="382.939" dur="5.69">what this is going to do is determine</text><text start="384.199" dur="8.79">what the setup is going to be when it</text><text start="388.629" dur="9.27">boots to the install often I'll put in</text><text start="392.989" dur="4.91">here which</text><text start="398.83" dur="5.28">I'll go ahead and put my settings in</text><text start="401.319" dur="4.5">here for the or the HCI it's not rude</text><text start="404.11" dur="6.929">these are none of these are necessary</text><text start="405.819" dur="6.511">for the for the install but like the s I</text><text start="411.039" dur="7.741">put in there because that's what allows</text><text start="412.33" dur="12.6">me to burn CDs with our SJ yes I'm so</text><text start="418.78" dur="9">words the AHCI read Me's has the tells</text><text start="424.93" dur="5.37">you about those parameters the I guess</text><text start="427.78" dur="6.72">of the s basically what it does is it</text><text start="430.3" dur="9.03">tells the HCI driver to make available</text><text start="434.5" dur="10.789">the skuzzy commands so that's what makes</text><text start="439.33" dur="5.959">it work with the rsj driver what's that</text><text start="446.97" dur="7.9">basically that's what you yeah so with</text><text start="452.949" dur="4.171">the eight you know basically the the</text><text start="454.87" dur="3.81">specific like I said this here is very</text><text start="457.12" dur="3.539">limited in what it's going to tell you</text><text start="458.68" dur="6.12">about because this is just getting you</text><text start="460.659" dur="8.221">to boot off this DVD itself this is this</text><text start="464.8" dur="6.419">is not specifically like I said you</text><text start="468.88" dur="4.379">don't unless you have to go in here you</text><text start="471.219" dur="3.69">don't have to go in here you can make</text><text start="473.259" dur="3.511">all of any of these changes that you</text><text start="474.909" dur="5.461">wanted to make you can go ahead and let</text><text start="476.77" dur="6.09">it boot into the regular come to just</text><text start="480.37" dur="5.31">boot with defaults and then make those</text><text start="482.86" dur="5.07">changes in the Installer section</text><text start="485.68" dur="4.979">I'm only I went in here because you</text><text start="487.93" dur="4.349">might have one of the purposes of this</text><text start="490.659" dur="3.81">particular screen as it allows you to</text><text start="492.279" dur="5.281">make changes so that you can boot off</text><text start="494.469" dur="5.521">the DVD in case you can't boot with the</text><text start="497.56" dur="4.74">default parameters and I'm wanting to</text><text start="499.99" dur="3.2">make sure you understand you know some</text><text start="502.3" dur="4.28">of the things that are available</text><text start="503.19" dur="6.96">basically it's you know it's just a</text><text start="506.58" dur="6.069">simple way of getting into your system</text><text start="510.15" dur="5.319">in particular one of the things has a</text><text start="512.649" dur="5.43">lot of capability in this on this DVD is</text><text start="515.469" dur="4.74">to Bill are going to do some work on the</text><text start="518.079" dur="3.75">drive you know on your own your if your</text><text start="520.209" dur="3.96">camp boot into your regular partition</text><text start="521.829" dur="6.451">for some reason you can do some basic</text><text start="524.169" dur="38.711">troubleshooting off of the</text><text start="528.28" dur="36.34">yes I I have I'm not 100% sure on this</text><text start="562.88" dur="4.59">what I believe this is is it just</text><text start="564.62" dur="6.72">because you've got to this stage this</text><text start="567.47" dur="7.2">stage is relatively simple to get to but</text><text start="571.34" dur="7.08">to boot OS to the u.s. to offer USB</text><text start="574.67" dur="5.22">requires special stunts up and to be</text><text start="578.42" dur="3.39">honest with you I'm not sure that that's</text><text start="579.89" dur="4.83">ready this is just I think this is just</text><text start="581.81" dur="5.58">preparing for that it's not Act I don't</text><text start="584.72" dur="4.35">think it's actually where you can you</text><text start="587.39" dur="3.66">know other than if that may need to be</text><text start="589.07" dur="18.09">checked for being able to boot off a USB</text><text start="591.05" dur="19.44">CD wrong not at that stage no yeah this</text><text start="607.16" dur="4.91">is yeah this is just the install so this</text><text start="610.49" dur="4.53">like I said this is just booting off</text><text start="612.07" dur="5.25">things up to the Installer is what's</text><text start="615.02" dur="2.3">this useful</text><text start="620.26" dur="5.28">our OS the big debts that spoke volumes</text><text start="623.74" dur="4.2">that that said quotes there by default</text><text start="625.54" dur="6.18">in case you want to move from an</text><text start="627.94" dur="5.85">external USB controller the confusion</text><text start="631.72" dur="5.07">that people happens yes that you need to</text><text start="633.79" dur="5.91">turn it on first but since a lot of</text><text start="636.79" dur="5.37">devices these days don't have her USB</text><text start="639.7" dur="4.86">device built in that's why it's switched</text><text start="642.16" dur="5.13">on by default this does not provide</text><text start="644.56" dur="5.37">support booting from USB stick it's</text><text start="647.29" dur="7.69">purely there it involves an extra move I</text><text start="649.93" dur="8.89">see people doing this yes yeah</text><text start="654.98" dur="6.479">all right if you if this allows you to</text><text start="658.82" dur="3.99">have Network you know assuming that</text><text start="661.459" dur="6.451">you're you know that you've got the</text><text start="662.81" dur="9.779">drivers for the email for Kyle we'll</text><text start="667.91" dur="6.84">call it a standard Network you can you</text><text start="672.589" dur="6.06">can get Network capability at the</text><text start="674.75" dur="5.519">install or maintenance windows you know</text><text start="678.649" dur="3.63">you don't really don't need it at the</text><text start="680.269" dur="5.37">install phase but you may need it for</text><text start="682.279" dur="4.74">the maintenance because you may have may</text><text start="685.639" dur="2.911">need to be able to get to the web to</text><text start="687.019" dur="8.82">look up something you know why am I</text><text start="688.55" dur="10.89">having this problem type issues no</text><text start="695.839" dur="5.671">that's not what this is doing so when</text><text start="699.44" dur="4.019">this thing boots up so I boot to the to</text><text start="701.51" dur="4.35">the maintenance went to the well to the</text><text start="703.459" dur="5.07">installation window I have the option of</text><text start="705.86" dur="4.529">going to a maintenance window from that</text><text start="708.529" dur="4.831">maintenance window I can bring up a</text><text start="710.389" dur="4.26">browser and I can say you know what is</text><text start="713.36" dur="3.99">causing this you know what would cause</text><text start="714.649" dur="4.62">this error whatever the error is that I</text><text start="717.35" dur="5.58">can't boot you know why can't I boot</text><text start="719.269" dur="6.211">type thing so this is not necessarily so</text><text start="722.93" dur="3.959">much for installation issues but as</text><text start="725.48" dur="2.849">you're going along you're working along</text><text start="726.889" dur="3.69">and all of a sudden you're having a</text><text start="728.329" dur="4.32">problem you have the option to go look</text><text start="730.579" dur="6.75">up something even if you can't boot into</text><text start="732.649" dur="7.081">your normal partition so this basically</text><text start="737.329" dur="4.471">is you can use this like I don't</text><text start="739.73" dur="4.409">typically put a maintenance partition on</text><text start="741.8" dur="5.099">my systems I know what most people do</text><text start="744.139" dur="5.611">I don't this allows me to boot off the</text><text start="746.899" dur="6.651">DVD and still be able to get to the</text><text start="749.75" dur="3.8">network yes</text><text start="753.72" dur="7.84">yes Louis too only has ipv4 at this</text><text start="757.03" dur="9.65">point so yes you know and don't have any</text><text start="761.56" dur="9.47">idea what time frame if any for an ipv6</text><text start="766.68" dur="13.15">it the amount of work involved is still</text><text start="771.03" dur="12.88">uncertain even and you can edit the</text><text start="779.83" dur="6.42">config sis but you know so if again</text><text start="783.91" dur="4.5">there's a lot of the stuff is gives you</text><text start="786.25" dur="6">the ability to do things not that you</text><text start="788.41" dur="16.98">need to do such things but you might</text><text start="792.25" dur="14.67">have a reason yeah at this point yes</text><text start="805.39" dur="6.81">because there's nothing but English at</text><text start="806.92" dur="7.28">this back yeah</text><text start="812.2" dur="5.16">Arco OS five that just launched as</text><text start="814.2" dur="7.15">English only source no other no other</text><text start="817.36" dur="5.7">option at this point but that's what I'm</text><text start="821.35" dur="4.11">about with the edit that config sis you</text><text start="823.06" dur="3.78">it gives you like it's a lot of power if</text><text start="825.46" dur="4.17">you need to go and make those changes</text><text start="826.84" dur="6.6">I've needed I've done it before for</text><text start="829.63" dur="5.7">checking something I'm in reality it's</text><text start="833.44" dur="3.6">not something you're going to often need</text><text start="835.33" dur="5.73">but it gives you that it has that</text><text start="837.04" dur="5.19">ability if it's needed now what you</text><text start="841.06" dur="3.54">can't look one of the things it does</text><text start="842.23" dur="5.22">have those and say ok boot moded by</text><text start="844.6" dur="4.53">defaults to the installation program so</text><text start="847.45" dur="3.75">that you can go into install but even if</text><text start="849.13" dur="3.63">you go into the installation program you</text><text start="851.2" dur="4.95">can from there go to the maintenance</text><text start="852.76" dur="6.27">window but you can boot straight to a</text><text start="856.15" dur="4.53">command interface or straight into the</text><text start="859.03" dur="3.03">maintenance system so instead of its if</text><text start="860.68" dur="3.27">you know what you're wanting to go into</text><text start="862.06" dur="6.66">the maintenance system instead of</text><text start="863.95" dur="6.47">booting into the Installer you can't</text><text start="868.72" that but we couldn't think of a</text><text start="2319.51" dur="4.92">way around it at this point because it</text><text start="2322.72" dur="4.53">needs yeah it has to go check to
