thatappreciate you taking the time to makethat suggestion without further adolet's get into it if we go to ourterminalor ourfreebies d install and log inyou can find out how to install freebsdin one of my previous videosso here we go we're all logged inand the first thing we want to dois get the stuff installed so i'm goingtoinstall everything in one goso xorg we're going to use packageinstead of compiling from the portsbecause that will take an eternityso we want xorgmatelet's install slim as well shall we whynotand alsomy editor of choice because we'll need atext editorready here we gothis shouldn't take too long because ipre-fetched most of itdon't forget to have some coffee becauseyou'll need someif you don't have coffee you're going tofind this quite tediousjust a few more to gonow stephen did ask for gnome kde ormate and i've gone for matebecause it's the most lightweight andgiven this isrunning in a vmshould be a bit easier on my systemso there we golet's umclear that and the next thing we want todois justedit ourfs taband we want to add inthe procfs there we go that's that added inlet's add in all the services that wewant tohave start upas you can seethis is on a vmware guestwe want mouse d which i've already gotfromthe installwe want dbuswe wantheldand we want slim but i'm going tocomment this outso next we want to set upour x in it fileso x in it rcand we wantexecmate sessionnow if you are running this in a avmwareguestit's probably wise that you install thexf86video vmwareandxf86 import vm mouseif you don'tyou may have a few problemsso let's clear thatscreen so next thing we want to do isxorgconfigurebutton so there we go let's edit thefile that it's just createdand that's in the root directory becausewe're logged in as rootnow because again this isavm i'm just going to make a few changesokay that's done that for me which isgoodand then screen zero should be calledscreen zero card zero there we goexcellentsameyou'll need to um configure this comdepending on your hardware so if you'rerunning a g-force card or an amd radeonorati radion as it was in the dayyou'll need to just quickly configurethatfor that thathardwareso let's move thisactually let's not move it let's copythistouse local etcxl.confthere we go so we should be all ready togoshould we see what happensyou ready for itwe're therenicefairly easywe have our desktopso let's just change my resolutionbecause that's an awful resolutionand apply thatand we'll keep that there we gothere we goso we now havemates runninglet's umcheck out what it is1.26.0um coffeeyum yum as you can see umit's based on gnome 2 but we won't holdthat against itumright so let's um let's add a few bitsin shall we because this is quite sparsevery sparsehave amate terminalthat's an awfulawfulfonti mean why has it done that that's justawful in itthat's betterthat looks a bit morereasonableokay so let'sinstall a couple of bitsthis may take a few minutesi haven't pre-fetched these so it'll beinteresting to see how long this takesthere we go that's that done let's clearthat and we don't we'll minimize thatbecause we don't need that at the momentlet's take a look and see what have got audiowell that's amazing because i didn'teven configure thatwhat can i say about this operatingsystem wellitcame around whena couple of peopledecided that they didn't like thedirection of freebies okay that's a bitchoppy but that's fine ummuch better thanwhat it has been running so that's greatbrilliant so let's check outlibreoffice this didn't launch for me onthe last bsd i triedfantastic straight awayamazingi quite like thiswhat we got seven three one threei believe seven four is the latest atthe momentobs studio didn't launch for meit's launched straight away look at thatthis is brilliant most impressivequite flabbergastedalways good when things just worklove ityep no device of coursei'm very happy that's worked very nicelyvlc media playerone last thingi'm very happy with thatthat's just dumbfounded me how easy thatwas even i wasn't expecting it to bethat easymost impressivemost impressive oh yeah that's what weshould dolet's see if we can umget a dark mode there we go much betterbrillianti'm happy with that i uh seriously ihope you're you'vejust realized how quickly and easy it isto set up a desktop on on freebsdbecauseyeah most happy about that what's
