very much.</text><text start="12.139" dur="7.821">We selected it in 2016 as part of a civil society
organisations local authority call for proposal.</text><text start="19.96" dur="6.25">It was proposed by the city of Da Nang, which
is one of the four major cities in Vietnam in the</text><text start="26.21" dur="2.28">central part of the country.</text><text start="28.49" dur="5.96">And with this project, the city of Da Nang
was requesting the EU to support its transition</text><text start="34.45" dur="2.879">towards solar energy development.</text><text start="37.329" dur="7.471">This is really great because with this happening
at the local level with the school, with the</text><text start="44.8" dur="6.79">hospitals, with selected households, it has
really triggered interest from the community.</text><text start="51.59" dur="6.34">I think what is great about this project;
what I like is the pilot project that</text><text start="57.93" dur="3.379">were implemented at the school level.</text><text start="61.309" dur="8.111">Because, while raising attention and awareness
about renewable energies, the teacher and</text><text start="69.42" dur="5.78">all the administrative staff of the school
also took the opportunity to raise awareness</text><text start="75.2" dur="8.83">with their children about their consumption,
plastic waste, about use of efficient resources.</text><text start="84.03" dur="7.829">The beauty of this is that the children went
back home and educated their parents, that</text><text start="91.859" dur="1.94">is absolutely fantastic.</text><text start="93.799" dur="8.89">On top of this, experts working on the project,
which have built capacities of the private sector and policymakers,</text><text start="102.689" dur="7.771">are also intervening at universities to train
future engineers working in the energy sector</text><text start="110.46" dur="1.189">in Vietnam.</text><text start="111.649" dur="6.47">So it's a very small local project,
less than 400 thousand euros in three years</text><text start="118.119" dur="4.53">and a half, but which makes much sense in
the context of Vietnam</text></transcript>
