dur="4.17">barn door and they would scurry around</text><text start="18.24" dur="4.08">and I would hope that none of them would</text><text start="20.25" dur="3.539">stay around and one time I went back to</text><text start="22.32" dur="4.529">the house I said dad can you come with</text><text start="23.789" dur="5.101">me and he locked the door and he says go</text><text start="26.849" dur="4.321">out and do your chores and don&amp;#39;t come</text><text start="28.89" dur="4.11">back until they&amp;#39;re done it was kind of</text><text start="31.17" dur="4.049">the beginning of me realizing that I</text><text start="33" dur="4.11">wasn&amp;#39;t in a supportive environment and I</text><text start="35.219" dur="3.781">learned one thing and one thing only is</text><text start="37.11" dur="3.359">that if I was willing to work hard then</text><text start="39" dur="3.629">I could get my dad&amp;#39;s attention but I</text><text start="40.469" dur="4.171">remember waking up I was about 13 or 14</text><text start="42.629" dur="3.391">years old and this was the day my dad</text><text start="44.64" dur="3.3">had promised me it was going to be yes</text><text start="46.02" dur="3">this was the day we were gonna play</text><text start="47.94" dur="3.63">together we&amp;#39;re gonna throw the football</text><text start="49.02" dur="4.26">back and forth and I was super excited I</text><text start="51.57" dur="4.739">walked out of my bed and I went down the</text><text start="53.28" dur="6.869">stairs and I saw my father where he</text><text start="56.309" dur="6.961">always is his ankle is chained to the</text><text start="60.149" dur="4.951">desk but as I got closer I knew</text><text start="63.27" dur="3.599">something was wrong it was like I could</text><text start="65.1" dur="4.199">I could feel there was a heaviness in</text><text start="66.869" dur="6.091">the air and I started to get nervous I</text><text start="69.299" goes do you have any</text><text start="95.34" dur="3.69">idea what it takes to put food on the</text><text start="96.93" dur="4.05">table do you think that this roof just</text><text start="99.03" dur="4.11">puts itself there money doesn&amp;#39;t grow on</text><text start="100.98" dur="4.35">trees you know one day you&amp;#39;re gonna have</text><text start="103.14" dur="3.81">to work hard for money now get out and</text><text start="105.33" dur="12.47">play on your own before I put you to</text><text start="106.95" dur="10.85">work and I never asked to begin</text><text start="118.07" dropped me off in the</text><text start="137.63" dur="4.56">car and stayed in the car all the other</text><text start="140.33" dur="3.9">parents were tying their skates I was</text><text start="142.19" dur="3.63">there alone I would try to score as many</text><text start="144.23" dur="2.72">goals as I could so I could go in and</text><text start="145.82" dur="3.39">tell him how I score the winning goals</text><text start="146.95" dur="2.65">so he&amp;#39;d want to come and look I never</text><text start="149.21" dur="4.55">did</text><text start="149.6" dur="6.15">I remember winning honors in school for</text><text start="153.76" dur="3.24">academic achievement looking out in the</text><text start="155.75" dur="4.65">crowd</text><text start="157" dur="6.07">hoping to see my dad but he was never</text><text start="160.4" dur="4.71">there so the only solace I had was to</text><text start="163.07" dur="3.63">work hard so I doubled down on that and</text><text start="165.11" dur="2.91">I worked hard and I&amp;#39;d call him out to</text><text start="166.7" dur="3.45">look at the task being done and</text><text start="168.02" dur="3.9">invariably it was never good enough so I</text><text start="170.15" dur="3.69">doubled down again and work harder it</text><text start="171.92" dur="4.11">didn&amp;#39;t feel good at the time but in life</text><text start="173.84" dur="4.14">what you do if you do what is easy why</text><text start="176.03" dur="4.71">it&amp;#39;ll be difficult but if you do this</text><text start="177.98" dur="4.92">difficult I will be easy I got the</text><text start="180.74" dur="4.14">difficult part upfront and I got really</text><text start="182.9" dur="3.45">good at it by the time I was 14 I saved</text><text start="184.88" dur="3.57">up enough money to get a scooter but I</text><text start="186.35" dur="3.69">was 16 I had my first car right I&amp;#39;m I</text><text start="188.45" dur="1.89">was 17 I thought you know what I&amp;#39;m out</text><text start="190.04" dur="3.419">of here</text><text start="190.34" dur="4.02">this sucks I mean I could go out and</text><text start="193.459" dur="2.341">make four times the amount of money</text><text start="194.36" dur="1.74">living on my own even if I have to pay</text><text start="195.8" dur="2.58">rent</text><text start="196.1" dur="5.7">I don&amp;#39;t care so I moved out I drove a</text><text start="198.38" dur="5.1">taxi I did carpentry I cut lawns I</text><text start="201.8" dur="3.98">washed windows I did anything that was</text><text start="203.48" dur="6.09">hard work because that&amp;#39;s all I knew and</text><text start="205.78" dur="7.72">then my life changed I got a call from</text><text start="209.57" dur="5.88">my stepmom and she said your dad has</text><text start="213.5" dur="3.42">cancer so I jumped on a plane and I did</text><text start="215.45" dur="3.509">everything I could I took care of the</text><text start="216.92" dur="3.69">house he said to me he had some back</text><text start="218.959" dur="3.241">taxes from Canada that were unpaid I</text><text start="220.61" dur="3.03">said yes I&amp;#39;ll pay them for you I did</text><text start="222.2" dur="3.06">everything I possibly could and I</text><text start="223.64" dur="4.08">remember the day I had to leave to go</text><text start="225.26" dur="4.62">back to take care of my family I had a</text><text start="227.72" dur="3.59">young son at the time and I had nothing</text><text start="229.88" dur="3.38">left</text><text start="231.31" dur="3.63">asked my dad well he was probably 98</text><text start="233.26" dur="4.229">pounds sitting lying in the bed and I</text><text start="234.94" dur="7.2">said dad can you think of a time when um</text><text start="237.489" dur="9.33">when I made you proud and I&amp;#39;m thinking</text><text start="242.14" dur="6.599">to myself there&amp;#39;s a whole bunch I I was</text><text start="246.819" dur="4.021">almost a millionaire by that time I had</text><text start="248.739" dur="3.541">done so many things I&amp;#39;ve risen up I&amp;#39;d</text><text start="250.84" dur="3.06">opened a restaurant I&amp;#39;ve new learned a</text><text start="252.28" dur="3">new language done so many things this</text><text start="253.9" dur="6.5">was the time he&amp;#39;s gonna go of course son</text><text start="255.28" dur="5.12">let me read from the list but instead</text><text start="263.23" dur="4.41">and I don&amp;#39;t know if it broke my spirit</text><text start="264.94" dur="4.14">or if I thought I had hit rock bottom I</text><text start="267.64" dur="3.87">hit another layer but when I got back</text><text start="269.08" dur="5.1">home actually I was fired for my job my</text><text start="271.51" dur="4.47">marriage had fallen apart I had no money</text><text start="274.18" dur="3.24">left at it that I&amp;#39;d paid to support him</text><text start="275.98" dur="3.3">so I got evicted from my apartment and I</text><text start="277.42" dur="4.5">moved back at my mom with my mom at the</text><text start="279.28" dur="4.86">age of 30 so there I am 30 years old</text><text start="281.92" dur="3.63">working 16 hours a day for 20 years and</text><text start="284.14" dur="4.17">I have absolutely nothing to show for it</text><text start="285.55" dur="4.26">except maybe a skill set on how to work</text><text start="288.31" dur="2.7">hard but I&amp;#39;ll tell you what when you&amp;#39;re</text><text start="289.81" dur="4.41">down there and you think there&amp;#39;s nothing</text><text start="291.01" dur="5.55">left it&amp;#39;s the foundation to grow from I</text><text start="294.22" dur="4.68">thought what am I gonna do now and some</text><text start="296.56" dur="3.78">little bird mentioned real estate so I</text><text start="298.9" dur="3.54">thought I&amp;#39;d get into real estate I got</text><text start="300.34" dur="3.75">into real estate and that&amp;#39;s when I met</text><text start="302.44" dur="4.17">my first mentor that transformed my life</text><text start="304.09" dur="4.2">I was in my office one night really late</text><text start="306.61" dur="3.72">and I was having a conversation with my</text><text start="308.29" dur="3.48">mentor and he walks in and he leans</text><text start="310.33" dur="5.97">against the door and he goes just still</text><text start="311.77" dur="8.52">here and I said yeah and because you</text><text start="316.3" dur="6.24">really have a great work ethic when I&amp;#39;m</text><text start="320.29" dur="3.92">talking to me he was I&amp;#39;m talking to you</text><text start="322.54" dur="5.28">because you&amp;#39;re awesome</text><text start="324.21" dur="6.94">like he&amp;#39;s still talking to me it&amp;#39;s like</text><text start="327.82" dur="5.97">I never had anybody tell me that they</text><text start="331.15" dur="3.72">believed in me my father certain was</text><text start="333.79" dur="2.25">always you to do better you can do</text><text start="334.87" dur="2.76">better you could do better yeah it drove</text><text start="336.04" dur="3.72">me but it didn&amp;#39;t make me feel confident</text><text start="337.63" dur="4.62">and I doubted it at first and we started</text><text start="339.76" dur="5.22">to talk and he goes oh so you&amp;#39;ve labeled</text><text start="342.25" dur="4.29">yourself stupid as a loser and the</text><text start="344.98" dur="2.94">skinny little kid he goes how do you</text><text start="346.54" dur="3.81">feel about that and I said I still feel</text><text start="347.92" dur="5.13">that way says you&amp;#39;re 30 years old I go</text><text start="350.35" dur="4.8">yeah I know but I still felt that way</text><text start="353.05" dur="4.02">inside he says okay we&amp;#39;re gonna change</text><text start="355.15" dur="4.08">it who&amp;#39;s an idol that you have and said</text><text start="357.07" dur="3.09">well one of my favorite is is you know</text><text start="359.23" dur="2.88">like Clint Eastwood</text><text start="360.16" dur="3.6">he&amp;#39;s like rugged I&amp;#39;m kind of rugged I</text><text start="362.11" dur="3.63">feel rugged just perfect how does that</text><text start="363.76" dur="4.29">feel when you say that so that feels</text><text start="365.74" dur="4.74">pretty good because that&amp;#39;s it I want you</text><text start="368.05" dur="4.17">to say that a thousand times a thousand</text><text start="370.48" dur="4.8">times every day or more if you want</text><text start="372.22" dur="4.41">loser out ruggedly handsome in so now</text><text
