<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?><transcript><text start="5.62" dur="3.18">The Philippines context is not an easy context</text><text start="8.8" dur="1.9">for gender equality and women empowerment,</text><text start="10.7" dur="4.48">for the time being, so we try to dialogue</text><text start="15.18" dur="5.16">with different stakeholders, civil society</text><text start="20.34" dur="2.12">and universities, that are</text><text start="22.46" dur="6.06">quite vocal and can still advance gender equality and</text><text start="28.52" dur="2.34">women empowerment in the country.</text><text start="30.86" dur="3.42">We also dialogue with the government agency</text><text start="34.28" dur="2.5">in charge of gender equality and women empowerment.</text><text start="36.92" dur="3.04">There are different ways to perform policy</text><text start="39.96" dur="4.3">dialogue, exchanging information, harmonising</text><text start="44.26" dur="2.136">and complementing our efforts altogether,</text><text start="46.396" dur="2.084">together with the member states as well.</text><text start="52.34" dur="2.66">In the Philippines, we have two big programmes</text><text start="55" dur="4.04">fostering and advancing gender equality and women empowerment.</text><text start="59.32" dur="3.02">It&amp;#39;s the &amp;quot;Safe and Fair&amp;quot; programme funded</text><text start="62.34" dur="3.8">by the EU and implemented by UN Women and ILO</text><text start="66.14" dur="3.76">for female migrant workers so that their</text><text start="69.9" dur="4.58">journey is safe to the new country but also</text><text start="74.48" dur="2.94">when they come back to the Philippines.</text><text start="77.42" dur="2.282">The other programme &amp;quot;WeEmpower&amp;quot; is the women</text><text start="79.702" dur="2.178">economic empowerment programme implemented</text><text start="81.88" dur="2.72">by UN Women that just started.</text><text start="88.68" dur="4.06">I worked together with the political and information section in the Delegation</text><text start="92.74" dur="5.14">to develop last March 8, so for the Women&amp;#39;s Day.</text><text start="97.88" dur="7.23">We organised an event in a University on harassment in universities,</text><text start="105.11" dur="3.349">and it was very interesting to see how students,</text><text start="108.459" dur="2.861">teachers, and the Delegation could debate</text><text start="111.32" dur="1.482">on this important topic,</text><text start="112.802" dur="2.038">in the Philippines in particular.</text><text start="115.18" dur="6.36">Another point indeed it&amp;#39;s also the way I initiated</text><text start="121.54" dur="1.8">the importance of gender mainstreaming in</text><text start="123.34" dur="2.635">the Delegation for programmes, with my colleagues,</text><text start="125.975" dur="2.424">and I&amp;#39;m very happy with the partnership I have</text><text start="128.399" dur="2.951">with my colleagues in the Delegation for ensuring</text><text start="131.35" dur="2.77">gender mainstreaming in all our interventions.</text></transcript>
